Greater Noida: The streets of Greater Noida plunged into darkness on Monday evening as workers engaged in maintaining the lights did not switch them on to protest the lack of a fixed monthly stipend and other issues.
Residents were left clueless as they had no information about any such shutdown. Around 9pm on Monday, the streetlights were yet to be switched on in several sectors. There was, however, no disruption in power supply inside houses.
“Initially, I thought it was some technical problem that had caused the blackout in my area alone. But when I went around, I realised that the entire block and nearby areas had plunged into darkness,” said Paritosh Bhati, general secretary of the P3 Residents Welfare Association.
