TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s Charlotte Heath, Lottie Woad, and Frederik Kjettrup have been named to the International Team for the 27th Annual Arnold Palmer Cup matches at the Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, Pa., June 8-10, 2023. The Ryder Cup-style competition features men’s and women’s collegiate golfers from the United States versus their International counterparts. Heath and Woad, who both played in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in March of 2023, will make their first career appearances in the Palmer Cup. Kjettrup is making his second consecutive appearance in the Palmer Cup. The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began in 1997. The event features the top ranked men’s and women’s university/college golfers. The Palmer Cup has been played at some of the world’s greatest courses, including The Old Course at St. Andrews, The Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Baltusrol, and the Honors Course in Tennessee. The Palmer Cup is the only major tournament which features men and women playing side-by-side as partners. “I’m super excited to be named to play in the Palmer Cup,” said Heath. “I’m especially excited that I will have the experience of playing with two of my Florida State teammates. The International team enters the competition as the defending champions, as it earned a 33-27 win over the U.S. team at the Golf Club of Genève in Switzerland. A pair of Seminoles – Kjettrup and Amelia Williamson – helped lead the International Team to victory in 2022. “I’m very happy to be selected to play in the Palmer Cup,” said Woad. “It has been a goal of mine, and I’m looking forward to competing alongside two of my FSU teammates, as well.” The selections of Heath and Woad to the 2023 Palmer Cup mark the fourth time since 2019 that the Seminole Women’s Golf team has been represented in the Event. Including Amelia Williamson in 2022, Beatrice Wallin in 2021 and Frida Kinhult in 2019 have represented Amy Bond’s program in the event, which began in 2017. Robert Duck, a Seminole Assistant Coach and current member of the Arnold Palmer Cup selection committee, helped lead the International team along with Kinhult in 2019. Heath and Woad are ranked Nos. 1 and 2, among their Florida State teammates with stroke averages of 70.36 and 70.84 respectively for the No. 12 ranked Seminoles. Heath’s 70.36 scoring average this season is currently ranked as the best in school history, while Woad’s scoring average in her first collegiate season is ranked as the fourth best for a single season in school history. “I am thrilled to have two more players with the opportunity to play in the Arnold Palmer Cup.,” said Seminole Head Coach Amy Bond. “This tournament is so unique, fun, and is a great experience for all the players. Mr. Palmer was such a great ambassador for the game of golf, and his legacy lives on in this tournament. For us to add two more players to the list of participants in this event is something we truly value as a program. Kjettrup is currently the low scorer for the Seminole men with a 70.15 stroke average. He has earned four top-six finishes in his last four events with the individual victory at the Watersound Invitational, and two runner-up finishes at the Cabo Collegiate Invitational and the Seminole Intercollegiate. Kjettrup was on the Haskins Award Watch List in 2022, while Heath and Woad are currently on the ANNIKA Award Watch List, as the top players in men’s and women’s collegiate golf.
