Police were responding to a report of shots fired and discovered an urban dale in his patrol car. 20 minutes later, a second shooting a few blocks away where a des moines officer was found shot in his vehicle who was responding to the initial call. He was taken to the hospital where he died. At this time, its very early in the investigation. No information on suspects and no arrests yet. This is described as an ambush attack because police say there does not appear to be prior interaction with suspects before it happened. Again, the Police Officers were just sitting in their vehicles. The chief of Des Moines Police said they are working hard to develop more information and we learned for better protection, officers are doing patrols in pairs.
