A deadly wreck overnight a car slams into a truck that had stopped on the Grand Central parkway. Today in new yorks Tracie Strahan just arrived at the scene. Be reporter were just getting official details from the nypd about exactly what has traffic stopped here on the Grand Central heading eastbound. This involved a box truck that remains on the right shoulder where it was when a 2014 Hyundai Elantra plowed into it just before 3 00 this morning. I want to show you video now of the scene that has things blocked off in this area right after the rfk bridge. Two men who were inside that hyundai Hyundai Elantra were killed as a result of what happened here. They were pronounced dead at the scene. As for the driver of that box truck that for some reason was parked on the shoulder of the road when it was hit, hes at elmhurst hospital in stable condition. No word yet as to why he was parked on the shoulder. Again, this is an accident that has the eastbound Grand Central right about 31st street shut down totraffic. It happened last night around 7 00 at linden boulevard and pennsylvania avenue in east new york. Police say he hit and killed a 56yearold woman as she was getting into yer car. Then he slammed into several parked cars. He got out, tried to run away. Officers caught him a few blocks away. One brooklyn family spent thanksgiving grieving for a wife and mother of six killed by an mta bus. She was struck wednesday night crossing ocean avenue in midwood. She was supposed to pick up her youngest child. She never made it there. Her husband spoke to news 4. Translator she she take our kids to school all the time. She was a good mother. A good mother. This morning a connecticut man is in custody for setting off a scare at the white house just as the first people was family was sitting down for thanksgiving dinner. Cameras captured him scaling the white house fence. He was wrapped in an American Flag. More from that mans hometown in stanford. Reporter you can see the secret service as they swarm the white house from the roof to the groundy chasing down a man who climbed over the fence. Draped in an American Flag, the white house says this man is joseph caputo. Witnesses outside describe a chaotic scene as he scaled an tfoot spiked fence. In 2011, a local online newspaper profiled caputo as a student with aspergers ndrose. At the time, he was a senior in high school. The article called him an inspiration. Shes been in contact with police all morning. Reporter rob, Emergency Responders are actually on the Grand Central parkway right now. Not necessarily tending to the box truck that was hit, but the Hyundai Elantra that struck the box truck. This is all happening at Grand Central parkway right about 31st street. Were told by police they found two men unconscious and unresponsive when they responded to the crash around 2 42 this morning. That elantra had slammed into the back of the box truck on the righthand shoulder. Its unclear why the driver stopped. That 35yearold driver was taken to elmhurst hospital. Thats what police told me over the phone. He is said to be in stable condition. The identity of the two men killed inside the elantra has not yet been released. Police say this man attacked a 26yearold woman jogging through East River Park. This was on wednesday night. After raping her, he also robbed her. The Surveillance Video comes from a store where police say he used the womans credit card. The woman was reportedly dragged behind the amphitheater there and sexually assaulted around 7 30 wednesday night. The suspect got away on a bicycle. 5 37. Moving to long island now. Two parents giving thanks to two people who saved their sons life. There was a 10yearold boy that stopped breathing wednesday at the Laurel Park Elementary School playground in brentwood. Officer john mccully arrived and found the boy unresponsive. He and a school nurse performed cpr and the boy started breathing once again. Amazingly, hes in stable condition at the hospital. There were two men iaside of that elantra when it slammed into the box truck that was actually pulled over on to the bohh men idside were unconscious and unresponsive when officers arrived. The driver of the box truck, however, a 35yearold man, second base said to be in stable condition according to police, who told me that over the phone. Hes at elmhurst hospital right now. It really remains unclear as to why that box truck was pulled over and really unclear as to why those men in the elantra slammed into it. Their identities so far have not been released. Its unclear why the elantra slammed into it, but we do know that officers responding found two men inside of that black vehicle unconscious and unresponsive. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The 35yearold driver of the box truck, according to police, was taken to h mhurst hospital, where hes in stable condition. He remained at the scene and gave police rame information on at happened. But again, it remains unclear why that vehicle slammed into the box truck when it was pulled over. Now, again, they are in the process of removing the bodies of tse men from the car right now. Then after that, they have to scour the scene for any evidence that could point them in the right direction as to why this happened. In new jersey, dozens of families get a Second Chance at thanksgiving today now that their water is running again. Crews worked through the holiday to repair a busd water main in cranford. About 70 homes near lincoln avenue lost water yesterday morning. Two houses were flooded. What a mess. No word on what caused that break. For one family on long island, thanksgiving had a very special meaning this year. Their sons life was saved by a lice officer and a school nurse just before the holiday. Their 10yearold boy had stopped breathing on wednesday Laurel Park Elementary School in brentwoondd. Officer john mccully arrived and found that boy unresponsive. He didnt even have a pulse. So officer mccully and the school nurse performed cpr. The victim started breathi w again. Amazingly, hes in stable condition at the hospital. Thankfully he was there. 6 49 right now.
