The crash happened at 4 30 this morning. People called in to report that a deer may have been in the road. California Highway Patrol responded and found this person dead in the roy. Then the freeway was shot down. Again, the transition from eastbound 80 to westbound 580 is shut down for the investigation. The victim was hit by several cars. None of the drivers remained at the scene. Heres what california Highway Patrol is asking the drivers to do this morning. If you hit the body and you are home and you are scared to call the police, let us know, we are conducting an accident investigation and the family has the right to a full, thorough investigation. Reporter because of the condition the body is in, california Highway Patrol does not know if the victim is a man or woman, they do not know the age of the person. What we have learned is that this person was trying to cross the lanes of westbound 580 just west of interstate 80 and that person was struck by several cars and ultimately was killed here at the scene. You can see all of the lanes of traffic are stopped no traffic is getting through. And ultimately trying to get over to the bridge here on westbound 580 chp is still investigating the corner can just a short time ago and removed the bodies of this person who was killed.
