Josh well, good saturday morning and its a wet saturday morning in many parts of the state this morning. So much needed rain. Were not getting what we need, but at least its a start. Degrees. A cool start and guess what . Were only going to add a few degrees onto where we stand right now. Thanks to the showers and some fog, weve got lower visibility in many locations. These are miles of visibility. Two and a half mile visibility in the upper valley. Four miles visibility in manchester. And in terms of rainfall amounts, a couple hundredths of an inch through midnight. From midnight on, a little bit more. This is certa its a start and well see the rain fall at times and it could continue at times through the day today as well. So well keep that going, as long as we can here with the rain showers moving across the state right now, all over. Western New Hampshire, youre going to see youre largely done with most of the rain that stacks up in terms of amounts. You can see a few showers, and the focus is slowly moving eastward. Meanwhile, were watching a major hurricane well down into the south in the caribbean. It briefly category 5 and it doesnt happen often. Its back down to a category 4 and its expected to remain a major storm, a major storm means category 3 or higher. And thats expected for the next few days before it eventually moves over cuba and starts to lose some of its strength. And youve heard of these categories, plenty of times before. What do they mean . Well, category 1 storm as you can see here in the 70s, 80s than that, and it all has to do with the wind speed and also how much water and storm surge, it can push ashore. Once you get up to category 3, thats what we consider a major storm and category 4, thats when major damage occurs due to storm surge and the winds. Category 5, which it briefly was. Things start to disappear. Heck, even the flag could blow away at any moment, goes. This is a category 4 storm now and it was a 5 briefly overnight. Around here, were not looking for that right now, but well have to wait and see where that storm tracks. Theres a slight chance it comes here. Temperatures today into the 50 to 55 range with scattered showers. Tomorrow, a passing shower, but a lot drier and a couple of degrees warmer. Scattered showers possible at anytime, but i think it will be drier this afternoon at times with lulls in the action. You can see whats going on with rain showers all over the northeast. And the amounts that weve seen since midnight are quite varied, all over the state. Upper 40s and lower 50s right now and only headed for 50 to 55, most spots. Maybe a couple of degrees warmer than that. In the north country, another look at the rest of your weekend and could Hurricane Matthew affect us here . The tra according to a report released by the Attorney Generals Office, not only did former state representative kyle tasker use marijuana at the state house, but it also says he sold it to fellow lawmakers. Wmurs mike cronin joins us to explain the allegations made in that report. Tasker has pled not guilty to several felony charges. This report says no further lawmakers named. Five elected leaders are named in the attorney generals report, but it says none will face charges because the evidence is insufficient to prosecute them. In march, kyle tasker was arrested for online st. Louistation of a miner and potential with intent to distribute controlled drugs. Wmur first reported that evidence found at his home, showed he had sold drugs to other members of the house. Im just really, really co i think it is deeply concerning that any elected official would engage in in kind of behavior and i think the voters should hold them accountable. The Attorney Generals Office says Pamela Tucker of greenland, the former Deputy Speaker of the house, bought marijuana once and marijuana elixir on another occasion. The report says she told investigators they were for medicinal reasons. Joseph lachance allegedly brought marijuana from tasker same. The report says Amanda Bolden, also of manchester, used pot with tasker in his car and recalled the conversation about a big drug purchase he made in legislature. Investigators say sanbornville representative ted wright bought marijuana to help with his wifes battle with breast cancer. And plaistow representative was named, but he died of cancer in june and never interviewed. The housepe are confident they will have their say. All the officials take an oath of office and this is a very serious transgression and im very deeply concerned about it and i hope the voters will take this very seriously. The lawyer for state representative amanda golden says in part, amanda did not buy drugs from tasker. In fact, she never inquired about buying drugs from tasker, not once. The other lawmakers didnt respond to our request for comment. Obtained through a dispensary. Mike cronin, wmur news 9. Amy a member of the u. S. Coast guard is recovering after he was hit by a van. Now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch 9 forecast. On a saturday morning, its a wet start to our day. Havent seen that happen a whole lot lately so we will take it in and enjoy it out there. The visibility is on the lower side this morning, thanks to extra low clouds, fog, and a little bit of rain as well. So, take it easy out there on the roads. Were not used to driving with wet roads and a few puddles here and there, as well as this the lower visibility. Here is your now. Notice those lines moving across the screen. That is the wind direction, and its out of the northeast, bringing down the cooler air and because of that, we continue to see the cooler weather today cool, raw type of feel out there. Temperatures today are not going to max out much higher than where they are right now. And maybe we add another 3 to 5 a cool day for the entire day. So far the high in concord has been 53. Nowhere near the average of 66 and look at that, the record is 87 degrees from way back in 1922. Obviously, were not coming anywhere near that, but you see the other end of the scale here, it can get down into the 20s this time of year and we wont be doing that either. Here is a look at Doppler Radar. You can see the rain showers have been off and o that way through the day and gradually shifting eastward a little bit. Western New Hampshire, you had some decent downpours overnight. As we go through the day. There will be times of lulls and then you can see a shower pop up at anytime through the day and well take all the rain we can, and the nice thing is, since its lasted all night and off and on through the day today. Even though these arent huge rainfall amounts, at least its now to the caribbean. We were just talking about this, here is major Hurricane Matthew. It was briefly a hurricane five, weakened this morning back to hurricane four north of aruba and south american and making that turn and headed up to jamaica, hispanola and cuba and perhaps do some big time damage as it moves across the islands and right over the bahamas. All of our computer pretty much agree on that. And what they dont agree on after that. A lot and some keep it out to sea and some of it move it over us. Obviously, we need to Pay Attention to what happens. The next few days is the upper low that spins and smalls eastward and that continues to bring the chance of showers off and on right through the day today. As you see here, really, there could be lulls and more showers through the day into the shower or two tomorrow and the same thing can be said about monday. So highs 50 to 55 for today. Tomorrow, a couple of degrees higher, but not much. Its still another cool day, but cloudy and just a passing shower or drizzle tomorrow. Same with monday before tuesday starts to bring clearing skies and the middle of the week looks nice. Any impact from matthew if it does come here will be nex weekend at some point. There is your temperatures, upper 40s and lower 50s right now and were not going to see the temperatures go much higher today. Ill tell you what, its going to be in the low and mid 50s pretty much everywhere around the state. So, thats going to feel quite chilly, a raw feel because of those winds, you see them there out of the northeast. And that keeps the temperatures theres the cooler winds, theyre light and comes out of the northeast and keeps feeling coolerment now onto the showers and you can see theyve been off and on throughout the state. But beginning to shift eastward. So, the higher rainfall apartments are probably go done in western New Hampshire. Were continuing to see them push eastward and more to the south coming up. Southeastern New Hampshire that needs the most in the state, we all need it, but the highest nom. Some good downpours, this pulled through the portsmouth area and down to the south. A few more, slightly heavier downpours are south to north and roll through the southeastern part of the state as well. Thats good news there. Once we get those through here, theres breaks in the action today at times, but there still could be afternoon showers. The pressure, slowly pushes eastward. As it does so the next couple of days, theres the chance for occasional showers and today is category 4 storm. It was a five briefly overnight and back down to four south of america and making the turn over the caribbean islands in the next several days, especially the second half of the weekend and early next week, it will be over jamaica, cuba, the bahamas, and then where it goes interest there is anybodys guess. So its a very strong storm and strengthening. Currently, a category 4. Here is a look at what the different categories mean in terms of winds. You see, as we go along here. Category 1, category 2, the winds strengthen and the amount of storm surge, also, increases and more damage and more damage is possible. By the time you get to a category 3, 4 or 5, these are the major hurricanes and major damage can be done, in fact, houses can even disappear with the category 4 or 5. We have to watch that b could be in our neighborhood next weekend and greatly reduced form or stay out to sea. Not quite sure. A look at rainfall today. Scattered showers still a possibility off and on through the day and tonight. Tomorrow, a largely drier day, but still drizzle or a sprinkle or shower a possibility. Highs today, low to mid 50s out there. Cool and raw feel. And then for tomorrow, as i mentioned, drier, but still a chance of a shower or two and still cool, 55 to 60 for to around 70 this upcoming week. Do you treat women with respect . Now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch 9 forecast. Josh its a cool start and wet out there in so many parts of the state. Havent seen that a whole lot this year. Will take a look at how much longer it lasts over the next couple of days. Upper 40s and lower 50s is what the temperatures are reading right now. And guess what, they are not going to go up a whole lot more. So if youre going out for anything today, you can step outside right now and have a pretty good idea what the temperature will be feeling like much of the day, as were only going to see the temperatures rise a few more degrees from where they are at the moment. Low to mid 50s for the highs for the most part. Because the winds coming down out of the things cooler and capping in those clouds quite a bit as well. So far weve maxed out at 53 in concord. The average is 66, but as you heard me say, we are only going to top off in the low to mid 50s. No word on the record of 87 degrees. Theres a look at the rain showers, theyve been at times, all over the granite state. Thats the good news. Everybody at least seeing a little drink for the plant life and hopefully some of it down heaviest rain is, its over in southeastern New Hampshire, some downpours rolled through the seacoast region which needs the rain so desperately and a little bit more upstream in massachusetts moving through west of boston and about to head into the Merrimack Valley areas and southeastern New Hampshire as well. So more showers are on the way. This upper level spinning system will stay there for the next couple of days and gradually drifting in our direction. That keeps the chance of showers here and there bot monday as well. Today, the most rain, sunday and monday, a passing shower or two. Now to the latest on major Hurricane Matthew, which is way down in the Caribbean Sea right now just off the coast of south america. It just went past aruba, about to turn and head up toward places like jamaica, cuba, sort of grazing by hispanola which has haiti and Dominican Republic will be seeing footage in the next week or so of damage and flooding to those locations. After that, where does it go. All of our commuter models agree. Look what happens after that. The lines are the various different computer models and you dont know where its going. Some are very good computer models and put it over us next weekend and many of them keep it out to sea as well. Theres no telling right now, the odds favoring it out and a real chance here as well. Keep watching this week as we track it. On again, off again rain showers in southeastern New Hampshire and then a bit of a break and more scattered showers popping up at times through the day today. And into tonight. And then tomorrow, a drier day, but still the chance of a couple of showers here and there, the same goes for monday. With lots of clouds on monday and a couple of showers a possibility. The rain chances then for today, pretty high. Tomorrow, a little lower, but still there. For the rest of the week as things dry out. Low to mid 50s, cool, raw, occasional showers and breaks in between and theres your extended forecast. By the time you get to tuesday, sun starts returning and so do the warmer temperatures. Now we check out your scores. Now, jason king and news 9 sports. All right.
