what's old is new. the tricks retailers are getting back to this year that may have you spending like the old days. nobody puts baby in a corner. >> it was a line, a scene, and a film that made him a household name. patrick swayze has lost his battle with cancer. . we start tonight in northeast baltimore. first he was a victim. then an offduty cop turns the tables and his gun on the suspect. good evening, i'm marybeth marsden. bullets went flying and tonight police try to identify shell casings found at the seen. brian keebler joins us with more. >> reporter: police are saying that offduty officer was protecting himself from a robbery suspect, a crime scene that crossed three city blocks in the crossfire. hours after the shutout, police were still processing this three-block crime scene. the evidence marker just one piece of a wide and dizzying puzzle. >> right here. to the left -- to right of the window. >> reporter: geena pointed out one of two bullet holes in her house and took us inside to see the damage. both bullets came through the walls and into her home. >> it's done a lot of damage. furniture shot up. and they can't get to the bullets in my home. >> reporter: luckily she wasn't at home when a 19-year-old suspect and an offduty police officer were in the middle of a shootout. he was unlocking the door on his own home when a 19-year-old put a gun to his back and told him to go inside and lay on the floor. he reached for his gun and that set off a three-block chase. >> the other guy was walking and chuting. >> reporter: a wild west shoot shootout that ended the suspect in the hospital with critical injuries and a quiet street rattled. >> it's unfortunate that people are desperate. i count my blessings and got to be careful and watch yourself at all times. that's pretty much about it. >> reporter: now if that suspect survives he'll be charged with attempted robbery. the officer is relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of the investigation. city police continue to investigate an overnight murder in the druid hill neighborhood. they found the man shot multiple times next to st. katherine's church. a bogus accusation that is a teacher trying to return to normalcy. a 15-year-old student claimed that 60-year-old jeffrey mccool touched him inappropriately. but in a follow-up interview he told the police he made the story up to avoid getting in trouble with his parents. mccool is expected to get back to work soon. no word if he plans to pursue legal action. the fallout continues for a.c.o.r.n.. the u.s. senate voted to block h.u.d. from giving grants to the organization which has come under scrutiny in the wake of videos, including one shot here in baltimore. a new video surfaced, shot at the a.c.o.r.n. office in new york. in each case, one of two conservative bloggers posed as a prostitute seeking help in getting a home to operate a brothel. according to videos a.c.o.r.n. encouraged the woman to lie. >> you can use them. >> four employees have been fired, two in baltimore, two in dc. the new york employees have been suspended and the bloggers behind the camera video could face charges since it appears they broke maryland law by taping the interaction without the a.c.o.r.n. employees' knowledge. in connecticut tonight, an autopsy confirms that the body of a woman found inside a wall of a yale university research building is that missing graduate stewent annie le. she was targeted and her murder was not random say police. but that's all that saying. her classmates held a candle light vigil tonight in her memory. a flurry of activity in new york city where members of a joint terrorism task force raided several locations in the borough of queens. search warrants were issued after the suspects were tracked apparently linked to al-qaeda. the intended target of this latest alleged plot has not been made public. temperaturewise across the region, starting to cool off, with the cooling we get increased humidity and look at the humidity at the waldorf school in baltimore, 100% out at the airport and humidity up in the 90s which means fog is forming in areas. mostly clear skies but patchy fog particularly north and west of the beltway. another nice day on tap tomorrow. how long can this nice weather hold on? joesy sterman has secret scores that tell more about you including how much money you might make them. >> reporter: your credit score should be above 700, what about your revenue score or your response score. do you know what those are? >> no, i don't. >> reporter: then there's the attrition score and bankruptcy score. >> never heard of that, either. >> reporter: they're what consumer experts refer to as your secret scores. you don't get to know what your scores are in most cases. >> you can't necessarily buy your secret score. your secret score is proprietary or owned by the bank so it's not a matter of public records. >> i wish i knew more about it. >> reporter: they combine tall kinds of seemingly random information about you to help lenders decide whether to loan you money. not everybody uses them but those who did get the information from you, sometimes indirectly. >> when you use your credit card you are generating information statistics that are used by the companies and other companies in many cases to predict what you will do, how you will behave, and what risk you might be to the company. >> reporter: for example, your revenue score tells the lender how much money you might make them in interest. >> there are obviously some consumers who pay their credit card bill in full every month. and they really don't make much interest. there are other people who carry balances. those people generate interest income for the banks but generate a lot of risk. >> reporter: and are you the kind of person who fill out those applications for credit in the mail or do you trash them? that determines your response score and the bankruptcy score looks at a likelihood you'll miss a payment or, worse, go bankrupt. >> if you have a bankruptcy score that's bad, they might cut your credit limits, they might call you if your payment was one day late. they'll take more interest in your account. >> reporter: even the type of transactions you make matter. >> it might be a situation where you were buying a lot of groceries and practical things for a long time and then suddenly you're paying for like your rent and other things with credit cards. and they're going to judge that you're more risky. >> reporter: and that may mean the next letter you get from the creditor will be a drop in the amount available. . another score to be aware of is your attrition risk score. it tells lenders the likelihood that you will stop using a card and that may either trigger them to give you a higher credit limit or credit checks to entice you to spend again. . so what is your score on the weather for today?
