In the last hour the department of justice announced its opening a civil rights investigation into the death of a man in the custody of Baltimore Police. Freddie gray died saturday nearly a week after being arrested. Six officers between the ages of 25 and 45 are suspended during this investigation. A vigil for freddie gray is set to begin within the hour. We will take you to it live coming up at 5 30. And we have new developments to tell you about tonight in the wrongful death of a man at the hands of Fairfax County police. Today, the board of supervisors announced a nearly 3 million settlement in the death of john geer. Geer was shot and killed by a Police Officer after that officer responded to a domestic disturbance in august 2013. That officer is no longer on the force. We will have more on the settlement today coming up at 6 00. Scott . Scott a developing story, alison tonight about the vaccines designed to keep us from getting measles, mumps and rubella. Tonight, a massive study finds there is no definitive link between that m. M. R. Vaccine and autism. Kelly lynn is here to explain. Kelly . Reporter even though multiple studies have indicated no link between the vaccine and autism some people continue to make the association. Now a new study in the journal of the American Medical Association could help put that belief to rest. The researchers wanted to know if recipients of the m. M. R. Vaccine had an increased risk of developing an Autism Spectrum Disorder especially children who had an older sibling with autism. After studying more than 95,000 children who enrolled in a large health plan and following them from birth to 5, scientists conclude theres not a connection. We found no evidence of a harmful association between the m. M. R. Vaccine and Autism Spectrum Disorders. This is true even among those children who are at increased risk of having Autism Spectrum Disorders by virtue of having an older sibling with it. Reporter its important to note that using a large objective data base is very important with analyzing these disorders. The condition can differ depending on the child. Back to you. Now the intervention specialists from virginia colorado and missouri are going to indiana to help track down people who may have shared needles or had unprotected sex with those testing positive. The university of Mary Washington street was strangleed in her fredricksburg home last week. Police charged one of manns roommates with first degree murder. M. , as you said, and just in the last halfhour, they got this road open and you can see that the tracks are the cars are now moving over the area where the crash was. You can see that the disturbed area, that was it. The work that was going on now and environmental crew out here cleaning up some of the oil that was spilled. This was a massive crash. The two big rigs are barely recognizable. In the foreground, the burned out remains of the truck which had been headed eastbound with a load of lumber. State police found the body of a male driver in there. Behind it that twisted mess is the cab of the westbound truck. A man and his female passenger killed in there as the trucks hit head on at highway speeds. The impact was it was a devastating impact. Brad the state Police Investigation is just Getting Started but it appears that it was the westbound truck which fails to stay in its lane. This tractortrailer shows the first impact of this terrible collision. You can see the marks on the side. It was sideswiped by the truck heading in the opposite direction which about a couple hundred yards down the road crossed the double yellow line and hit another truck head on. This stretch of route 404 is a major cross shore route for beach goers, commuters and commerce, it is a road with a bad reputation. Its a crazy road. I hate driving on it. Brad regular users of 404 say the combination of high speeds and just two lanes makes it a frightening route. Thats a dangerous road. Its been dangerous for a long time. Thats why they have you keep your headlights when youre driving on it and not see people drive on that road at 90 miles an hour. Brad now the Maryland State Police just in the last minute have released the identities of the People Killed in the crash out here. The driver of that westbound tractortrailer, 38yearold Brian Hutchison of raymer tennessee. His passenger, 24yearold danielle mumford, del mar delaware is her home. They had a pet dog in the truck. Dog also died in the crash. The deceased driver of the eastbound tractortrailer was identified as terry coward 52 years old of culpepper, virginia. And now the police say that their investigation is still ongoing into exactly what happened out here. But at this point, they are confirming what we reported and that is that that westbound truck, the man and woman aboard crossed the double yellow line and hit that other tractortrailer head on. Diane . Diane they were arrested this morning here at the jail behind me after an investigators say they were caught smuggling in cell phones and cigarettes in exchange for money. These four detention officers are now facing a number of charges after a grand jury indicted them on friday. Im horrified at the apparent breach of public trust that we just learned about. Diane between all of them they face 61 charges ranging from attempted bribery to misconduct in office. We believe its isolated to this group of four here and we dont believe there was anyone that was the leader but we believe its isolated to this group of four and not a widespread problem. Diane Authorities Say a three month long investigation was launched after a tip came in from the detention center. They say the Correctional Officers bought the contraband that also included cigarettes and matches into the jail in annapolis where they work and dropped them off at predetermined locations.
