reporting life from the west front lawn of the capitol, suzanne kennedy, abc 7 news. alison: ok. in the last hour the department of justice announced it s opening a civil rights investigation into the death of a man in the custody of baltimore police. freddie gray died saturday nearly a week after being arrested. six officers between the ages of 25 and 45 are suspended during this investigation. a vigil for freddie gray is set to begin within the hour. we will take you to it live coming up at 5:30. and we have new developments to tell you about tonight in the wrongful death of a man at the hands of fairfax county police. today, the board of supervisors announced a nearly $3 million settlement in the death of john geer. geer was shot and killed by a police officer after that officer responded to a domestic disturbance in august 2013. that officer is no longer on the force. we will have more on the settlement today coming up at 6:00. scott? scott: a developing story, alison ton
and that s thanks in large part to those men who jumped down. now, the spokesperson for metro says unquestionably those two good samaritans are heroes. if you find yourself in a similar situation, he said one thing he recommends is somebody get the station manager and try to have him turn off the third rail because there is the potential if you jump down there that you could be electrocuted if you hit that third rail. didn t happen in this case thankfully and again, he says those two men were heroes. fortunately, no train was about to come but the men very likely didn t know that so they took a big risk and were able to get the man and again, his wheelchair as well off those tracks. reporting live tonight at the u street metro station in northwest, i m tom roussey, abc 7 news. maureen: thank you, tom. just in from the district tonight, metro police say they have identified people responsible for attacking a man at the congress heights metro station. it happened april 13th at
