are still spotting light flurries outside right now and going to have really, really cold temperatures moving in. first alert live doppler is telling the story. this is a monster of a storm intensifying so rapidly within the last few hours. it intensified the type of storm we see takes 24 hours to happen. this storm did it in seven hours and now battering new york and boston with heavier snow bands and really, really strong winds. we saw strong winds around here as well. ocean city maryland had wind gusts of 50 miles per hour. now we are getting flurries around the d.c. area. light snow around buoy and flurries in the college park area with cloudy skies. d.c. right now mostly flurries but around florida avenue northeast a break for you also around howard university. they are getting a break from the snow and still light snow around the only area along 97. rockville gets a break for now. this the shift over to the east. flurries are about what we are expecting until 3: 0 ....
bombagenesis? bill: bomb cyclone. i retreated stuff from the satellite that showed it wound up and lookedded like a hurricane out there. that is the deep drop of pressure we talked about last night. it s pushing up to new england. for the most part out of our area in terms of what is going on with the snowfall. now we have driving winds out of the northwest. that moves us forward to the next story. it s a big story. wind chill advisory posted for the entire region. of course, it includes d.c. metro. that goes all the way up out of our region as well. the wind gusts right now, if you ve been outside you know this and you might hear this. the tree flowing around. we have a wind gust of 40 in winchester. 36 miles per hour is the wind gust around d.c. 38 in gaithersburg, frederick, the same thing. if you look at the temperatures now the big chill begins. 26 in d.c. 22 in gaithersburg. the feels like temperature is what you need to prepare for if you are going outside now is ....
outside the stadium where people were rushed out of harm s way at a packed concert. roz: the rain caused a number of rain delays and an evacuation of a number of places, including at r.f.k. park police ordered evacuations of the west lawn of the capitol where folks are gathered for tonight s concert, as well as folks near the washington monument and put into play operation safe haven encouraging folks to seek shelter at a museum or metro stop. organizers cleared the field brought the performers off the stage and spectators into the stands. that lasted, we were told, half an hour, 40 minutes, and then the concert resumed and it is continuing as we speak. people are still streaming in coming from the metro. they have looked forward to this concert, the 20th anniversary of the foo fighters and they are celebrating on america s birthday. it is supposed to be an all-day concert featuring other performers including dave grohl, joan jett and the black hearts buddy guy, l.l. co ....
