The first flight was canceled the crew approached tampa and started telling everyone to brace themselves. It was nerve racking because you didnt know what might happen, if the wheels were going to be open or if we were going to reporter but the good news is that everybody is fine. In a statement that reads, aa flight 574, an a 320 aircraft from phoenix to tampa experienced an indicator light. Aircraft landed normally and passengers were deplaned via air stairs and driven by bus to the terminal. No one was injured. There were 146 passengers onboard. The aircraft is currently being evaluated by our maintenance statement. End quote. That statement from American Airlines. An American Airlines flight made an Emergency Landing at Tampa International airport shortly after midnight this morning. Passengers on flight 574 tell us the plane had problems with the landing gear. Our Jerry Penacoli, the host of daytime right here on news channel 8 was onboard that jerry tells us that the planes left side landing gear would not activate and flight attendants had passengers brace for a crash landing. Fortunately, at the 11th hour, the malfunctioning landing gear engaged and the plane landed safely. No one was hurt. Passengers however had to deplane from portable staircases on the tarmac. Hear from passengers onboard the flight coming up in about 15 minutes. The u. S. Department of justice is looking into the filed. This happened in tulsa, oklahoma. Jerry said something was terribly wrong when the plane went to land but the pilot suddenly pulled up. And then the plane circled around the bay area for quite a while. The pilot explained a light went off showing a problem with the landing gear. It as well. Initially the left side of the planes landing gear was not engaging. We heard the mechanism under the plane. [imitates noise . Like something was trying to release and it wasnt. And we started to get a little curious. Reporter the flight crew screamed for everyone onboard to brace upon landing. They got into crash positions but again, thankfully the plane and passengers onboard flight 574 to use me canal stairs to get off the plane which was pretty much parked in the middle or on the middle of the runway. And then they all came here to the baggage area to pick up the luggage. When they are hear, it was certainly a good sign and finally a good morning for all of them. Hah a relief for those what a relief for those folks. Yeah, so unsettling when the blown tire isnt the only problem with the flight. And we started circling and circling and then, you know, people started talking a little bit.
