A crash reported on the boulevard northbound around elbridge street taking out lanes into the outer drive. This morning were following breaking news in allentown where flames ripped through eight row homes. Overnight crews got control of the flames. The fire started early last night on north fulton street. Cruise evacuated people on the block as they fought the flames for hours. Nbc10s katy zachry is on the scene with an update. What do we know . Reporter tracy, it was some incredibly tense and very sad moments last night and in the overnight hours on fulton street. This is block of row homes is the stretch that was damaged. Some homes a total loss. The fire is now out. You can see an engine is staying on the scene to watch for hot spots in case they flare up. Lets go to video of what happened overnight. Allentown Fire Department called in for extra manpower as the fire grew in size. It took four hours for firefighters to get it under control. A firefighter tells us it began in the middle row home. We are told everyone on the block made it out okay, though i am still waiting for official word that no one, including firefighters, was injured. Neighbors say it is the worst thing thats happened on their street. Theyre just grateful it did not happen overnight while people were sleeping. The time of night, what time it start, nobody was sleeping. It was early. That means someone was able to combat it. Reporter people were awake enough to get out. Yeah, nobody was sleeping. Nobody was sleeping. Reporter you may have caught in the middle of that comment that witness speculating about the cause of the fire being a heater. At this point the fire marshal has not come out with the official cause of what began this fire. At the top of the broadcast we told you more than 20 people are being assisted by the red cross. 23 to be exact are being helped with food, shelter and lodging by that agency. When our crew arrived around 1 30, there were still flames coming from the roof of this row home at 24th and montgomery avenue. Firefighters quickly put out those flames and no one was hurt. Were following breaking news this morning in allentown where overnight firefighters got kroefl these flames ripping through a city block in allentown. This morning eight row homes are damaged and nearly two dozen people are out in the cold. The fire started early last night along north fulton street and some of the people who live on this block have lost everything. This comes weeks before christmas. Nbc10s katy zachry has been on the scene all morning long and talking to some victims. What can youl affas has been restored to the 400 block of north fulton in allentown with the exception of this stretch of row homes, eight to be exact. Vai, as you said, fire tore through these row homes last night. More than half a dozen families were forced out in the cold. Now, this fastmoving fire on north fulton in allentown began after 8 00 last night. Firefighters tell us it began in the middle row home of the block, possibly in the back of the house. A man and two children, were told, were the first to report it. Neighbors say this block is filled with families. Many just poured out of their homes into the cold because of the fire. A couple of eyewitnesss tell me it was heartbreaking to see. Young children forced out of their homes and shivering in the cold. They were crying, laying on the ground, shaking their head. Reporter and there were some kids who lived here . , yeah a lot of kids lived over there. All the houses have kids. Everybody lose everything like that. Reporter now, some rescue workers and eyewitnesss who were here at the scene tell me there were no injuries to any of the people who live on this block or to firefighters. I am still waiting for official confirmation there were no injuries as a result of last nights fire. Im also waiting to hear from the fire marshal as to what they think caused this fire. Some families who were evacuate ready back in their homes this morning. From our delaware bureau. Wilmington Fire Department is mourning one of its own. The city commissioner announced the dead of senior firefighter ardy hope. Shes one of three who died battling flames at a row home in september. She was listed in icu and critical and stable earlier this week. Captain Christopher Leach and lieutenant engineery fickes were also killed in the fire. Beatrice fanaruiz was arrested. She lived in the house with her mother and stepfather and admitted to setting the fire. We have more details on the explosion of a center city home last month. Were getting new video and pictures of the who the fbi calls a person of interest. They refer to the person as a male but acknowledge it could be a woman. They say the person on surveillance cameras on pine and lombard a couple days before the blast. Jim alden suffered shrapnel scars on his face, arms and chest when he was delivered a package to his home and it exploded. Police are offering 10,000 for any information in this case. A partial reelection begins in pennsylvania. Pamela osborne explains how this plays into the larger recount effort. It begins today in philadelphia. Thats all it is. Election officials will not inspect Election Software for malware that could have manipulated votes as the green party had requested. At 1 00 this afternoon the recounts and Voting Results from 75 machines across 1700 wards in philly will take place at the voting machine warehouse on wissahickon avenue. Why thesetic wards . Voters in each of the wards in question actually petitioned for the recounts. This is an effort, as you know, from Green Party Candidate jill stein. Shes pushed the recounts in michigan and wisconsin as well. We know president elect trump has been against recount efforts. His attorneys have even filed paperwork in an effort to stop the recount in michigan. That recount was set to start today in michigan. Wisconsins recount is already under way. Here in pa, trump defeated Hillary Clinton by 68,000 votes. Clinton, however, defeated trump by a margin of nearly 455,000 votes in philadelphia. High schools in ocean county have a new tool to help drug overdoses. Nurses are armed with narcan nasal spray kits. The spray can reverse overdoses from heroine and other opioids. Police are trying to figure out if anything was stolen. This is the chatman chevrolet dealership. Theres broken glass and a busted fence there.
