As you look to the south and east were looking at less than an inch. Well look ahead towards the workweek in just a few minutes. Happening now, crews are putting out hot spots from an Apartment Fire in camden county. Nbc 10 is at the Emerald Ridge apartments on gibbsboro road in lindenwold. The fire broke out in a twostory building of the complex around 2 00 this morning. Flames spread to several apartment units. Firefighters had to clear out after the roof collapsed. The American Red Cross is helping about two dozen residents who had to evacuate. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. We had fire through the roof when we pulled up. Naturally the cold and the ice play a part in putting it out. Luckily, the winds have died down, so that was a contributing factor. We are also following breaking news in philadelphias East Mount Airy neighborhood where a house fire forced people out into the bitter cold this morning. The fire started on the third floor of this row home on east sharp neck street also just before 4 00. Six people were inside at the time but they did make it out safely. Investigators are looking into the cause of this fire. They say it appears to be accidental. As the extreme cold continues to impact our area amtrak will operate on a normal weekend schedule along the northeast corridor. That includes trains running from boston with be new york and washington. Both acela express and regional trains will operate on normal weekend schedules as well. This comes after four days of weatherrelated disruptions. Yesterday, service on the northeast corridor ran at half its normal capacity. Amtrak blames the disrupted service on the frigid temperatures but says that all passengers were able to catch different trains this week. If you take the cape may lewis ferry, keep checking on service today. As of now, trips are canceled through 9 15 this morning because of ice in the water. Officials say with the frigid temperatures Additional Service could be affected later today. Of course with the storm coming that could also impact service. New from overnight a twocar crash sent two people to the hospital this happened at fifth and lehigh in north philadelphia just after midnight. A 20yearold man was treated for a broken hip while a 26yearold man was treated for a concussion. No word yet on what caused this crash. Philadelphia police say a fight over a woman led to the stabbing death of a member of nicki minajs tour group. The stabbing happened early wednesday at chibar and grill at east mount arie. One member was killed, another stabbed but survived. Officials are close to making an arrest. I believe we have identified all of the participants involved in this fight and ultimate murder. The victims were in town rehearsing for nicki minajs tour thats set to begin next month. This morning, Philadelphia Police are looking for deadly for clues in a deadly shooting that happened last night. Skyforce 10 was over west butler street in nicetown where somebody shot a man inside a car. We are working to find out more about the victims id it i. As soon as we get more info well pass it along. Police say they do know who theyre looking for. Theyre looking for this man, wanted in connection with the murder of a Temple University student. Hes 25yearold leanaldo rivera. Police believe hes the man in this Surveillance Video who shot and killed Alejandro Rojas last month. A philadelphia woman accused of beating her 10yearold stepdaughter to death has been sentenced to life in prison. Prosecutors say that Margarita Garabito began abusing her stepdaughter when she was just 6 years old. The young girl died in 2009 from repeated beatings. Authorities say garabito allowed her son to sexually abuse the girl. Now to news out of atlantic county. Atlantic county prosecutors charged Richard Doherty with manslaughter. He was already facing dwi charges. Authorities say that he was drunk when he hit and killed a man walking in Galloway Township two weeks ago. Doherty is now being held on 200,000 bail. Pennsylvania attorney general Kathleen Kane is taking aim at her critics, launching a website called the truth about Kathleen Kane. The attorney general said the site challenges what she calls the smears and false accusations against her. Kane is fighting the results of a grand jury report. The panel recommended charging her in connection with a leak of grand jury information. Kane says the investigation is politically motivated. The time right now is 5 36. At Heritage Vineyards in mullica hill owners say the snow serves as a thermal blanket of sorts to protect the roots. We have new information this morning in that deadly las vegas road rage killing. A Police Report says that the 19yearold suspect in the case bragged to his friends about killing the mother of two outside of her house with a semiautomatic handgun. Police say that he fired 22 shots at tammy meyers and her son brandon last week. After the shooting he allegedly told his friends that he quote, got them. The suspect and the victim knew each other, police say. Back in our area police are warning local College Students about the dangers of using fake i. D. S after a college dean helped to break up a fake i. D. Scam. Heres what we know. Radnor Township Police tell us that a name mixup allowed them to intercept the delivery of four fake i. D. S bought by College Students on a website. They wont identify the school but the i. D. S were mailed to the dean instead of a student named dean. Police want to remind young people that getting caught with a fake i. D. Could lead to serious charges. Its really more about us wanting kids to be safe. Theres a reason the laws were established and we follow them. Police say the students involved in this case will not be charged. Thats because they never received the i. D. S. They may be punished by the school. The case is also headed to the department of Homeland Security because the i. D. S were bought on a foreign website. News in chester couldnt it i, officials posted a 1,000 reward in a vandalism case at lincoln university. Police say that somebody spray paint racist graffiti on an entrance sign at the historically black school. The vandalism was discovered on thursday. The countys District Attorney and chamber of commerce put up the reward money. The red light program, the Camera Program in new jersey has come to an end. We are learning just how much money it brought into the state when it was in effect. The program generated 156 million in fines over five years. The cameras were placed at 73 intersections in 24 towns across the state. The Program Ended in december. Supporters say the cameras made the roads safer, opponents say that people paid more in fines than the state saved from prevented crashes and injury. In Atlantic City donald trump is one step closer to his fight to remove his name from the troubled taj mahal casino. A Bankruptcy Court judge sided with trump which means he can move forward with his lawsuit to strip the trump name from the taj. Trump says the taj mahals parent company, Trump Entertainment Resorts let the casino go downhill damaging his personal brand. Donald trump no longer has ties to the company. A department of transportation worker in tennessee had a close call with a pickup truck this week because of the icy roads there. Were hearing from that man about the near miss caught on camera. David leak was standing along i40 interstate 40 in knoxville, tennessee, taking pictures of an accident when a truck lost control and skidded right across the median. The nbc 10 investigators are getting answers about thousands of questionable gas bills in south jersey. A Security Camera shows a meter reader from south jersey gas going into this hair salon and leaving minutes later. Its why he was surprised to get this letter telling him the company had not been able to get an actual reading for months. The company told him the meter reader reported his gas usage but those numbers were not put into its new billing system. After months of getting estimated bills, latigona found out exactly what he owed. This was a big red flag for me. My case im underpaid for 836 and some cents. When nbc 10s investigators started raises questions, the utility admitted in the most recent cycle, approximately 3 of its customers may have received the lower than anticipated bills. The utility is now offering payment plans to latigona and 11,000 other people who were undercharged. This isnt too much of a surprise but new Research Shows that smartphone users are becoming dependent on their devices. The people who use the devices the most 21 say they couldnt maintain a relationship with a significant other without the apps on their smartphones. 19 say they wouldnt be able to find new friends and 17 say they wouldnt be able to do their jobs.
