Family members, the victims were visibly upset as the judge read the ruling. They had one of the death penalty. Jury came to this decision after 7 hours of deliberations over 2 days. It ended a 3 month trial that included graphic videos and photos from the massacre and its aftermath. Also heartwrenching testimony from the victims, family members and a tour of the still blood spattered building. The 24 yearold will now spend the rest of his life in prison. It was on valentines day of 2018 that the shooter killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman douglas high school. The Supreme Court has rejected former President Trumps request to intervene in the legal battle over the search of his florida home. Trump asked the high court to overturn an Appeals Court ruling that denied a special master from reviewing more than 100 classified documents. The papers found at his maralago estate. The courts denial means the independent party will not have access to those papers. Meantime, a source with knowledge of the document investigation says the maralago worker has talked to a grand jury that person reportedly claims that trump ordered boxes of documents to be moved to other locations. The city of santa rosa is moving forward with the plan to try and stop sideshows in the city. The new laws theyre talking about could take effect as early as next month. Kron 4 Sarah Stinson has the story. Santa rosa city council is one step closer to approving the sideshow ordinance. I caught up with the mayor to find out why this would be so important to crack down on these illegal events. It destroys us some of the infrastructure that we have. We can go after those folks live and make them liable now for the cost of the damage that they do to our community. The ordinance would give police the ability to arrest or cite everyone involved. That side shows, including those driving the cars, passengers people watching on the street and organizers Officials Say the city has seen an increase in illegal sideshows over the last few years. It really reached a fever pitch during the pandemic. Sideshows include hundreds of people showing up to watch cars drifting, doing burnouts and doughnuts. Theyre held several times a month. Usually at night on city streets or parking lots. Yeah. One of the things thats the most disturbing that youve seen with the sideshows. When police do engage the sideshow and tried to break it up. Some of the crowd gets very hostile, starts throwing bottles really assaults. The Police Officers. Not only does the mayor want to see this push forward, but the police chief says sideshows will not be tolerated in the new ordinance would be a tool that would deter that type of dangerous behavior. The overall message is very, very clear. Dont come here and dont do this. You put our community at risk and it is not something that we are willing to tolerate here in santa rosa, the Santa Rosa City council will continue to discuss this ordinance on october 25th. In the south bay, San Jose Police say an elderly man was very badly hurt and i hit and run crash today. It happened in the area of monterey road and mount a vista drive. Police have not released last description of the suspects car and they say the man does have life threatening injuries will give you more details as we get them. Daly city police have made an arrest in a Home Invasion that was caught on camera earlier this month. We first told you about the story back on october. 3rd, when a man disguised himself as a pg e worker and attacked this elderly woman and forced his way into her home. Police say the suspect got away with money and jewelry. The granddaughter of the victim told us that she believes that her grandmother was targeted because shes an older asian woman. Police have now arrested. 34 yearold you shed serve richmond and said that he was tied to a series of Home Invasion robberies. Hes been booked into the San Mateo County jail on several felony charges. Oakland police are investigating the citys 100th homicide of the year. A person was found dead on the 2500 block of 82nd avenue and not far from castleman High School Police not yet releasing a lot of details. They say the victim died from Blunt Force Trauma after being assaulted and anyone with information as always being asked to call oakland police. The man authorities believe is responsible for the death of 4 family members in merced said pleaded not guilty in court this morning. Investigators say that Jesus Manuel Salgado had kidnapped to 8 months old. Her mother and father and her uncle from the familys trucking business. The family of 4 was found dead in an orchard 2 days later. Salgado is next. Court appearance is scheduled for december 15th. Well switch it up and get our check of the forecast right now. Its happening across the country and will definitely impact the number of birds available for thanksgiving. We ourselves have been told that were going to be short around 30 of our order. An army really like 7, 8, 100 birds, 7800 birds. And were expecting like maybe for 50 or 500. While supply chain issues and employee shortages are playing a part in the turkey shortage. The main reason is an outbreak of bird flu, which the u. S. Department of agriculture says hes impacted more than 47 million birds. More than 600,000 of which are in california. Right now, were mainly concerned about thanksgiving. So were trying to keep every bird is healthy as we can right now because the birds are very closely to being particularly for frozen birds in the fresh season will start in a couple of weeks. Well start to process birds for the fresh season film at us. But the California Poultry Federation says while there will be a shortage of fresh turkeys, the rule likely be in a frozen turkeys from out of state to meet demand.
