This creek has overflowed its banks in a number of areas, spilling onto walkways and trails. People have been flocking to this neighborhood to see the Alameda Creek and how much its raging. At the Alameda Creek regional park, we saw one guy try to get as close to the water as he could. But most people have been keeping their distance. Because not only is it raging at a high speed, its very loud. There is a huge concern for safety tonightniles canyon at mission blvd has been closed for some time. And thats because parts of the roadway is flooded. The Alameda County sheriff also closed niles canyon due to a mudslide. A number of people that came here today, did so after hearing about the traffic alert. People that have been living in this neighborhood for decades arent used to seeing this much water so its fascinating. A large sinkhole and river erosion is threatening four homes in monte rio. And the foundation to one of the homes is starting to sink. The erosion had been occuring for the last few weeks now. Crews have tried to shore up the river bank with tons of rocks. We are monitoring the situation at Lake Oroville this morning. Which threatened to flood nearly 200thousand people early last week. Authorities now say the risk is greatly reduced. Theyre continuing to release water from the dam and make repairs to the damaged spillways, which was the problem in the first place. The creek is expected to rise near eleven feet above flood stage with the rain we have been getting. Happening now in the Central Valley. Mandatory evacuations in orders in effect following a levee breach along the san joaquin river. This is happening near the rural town of manteca, south of stockton. The National Weather service issued a flash Flood Warning in the area until 7 00 this morning. The breach was halted, but evacuations remain in place. People who live near lathrop had been preparing since friday for the potential the river could overflow its banks. Some of them already packed up their belongings and left town. And this wet weather is causing for several Flight Cancellations at San Francisco international airport. More than 100 flights were cancelled yesterday because of the storm. Sfo officals say nearly 300 flights were also delayed. The east and south bay had better luck. Airports in oakland and san jose have had zero cancellations last night. This was the scene yesterday at the south bay Mobile Home Park. You can see some of the roads were completely underwater, in some sections a foot deep. The back side of the Mobile Home Park is protected by levees and train tracks, but water came over the tracks and flooded the streets. Crews worked into the night to clear out the water. Despite all the flooding, the evacuations were only voluntary. That Flood Warning along the coyote creek a edenvale is in effect until further notice. Other parts of it is under a Flood Warning until 11 30 this morning. And three people had to be rescued from flood waters near coyote creek in san jose. The San Jose Fire Department originally reported that two people were trapped by the water. When they got to the scene they found that it was actually three people. The Fire Department launched a boat to rescue them. There are no reports of serious injuries. A large section of highway 84 is closed because of storm damage. Palomares road in fremont is shut down between niles canyon road and palo verde this morning. Yesterday morning boulders from the hillside came crashing down. Blocking the road. And as the rain continues, more rocks and mud keep falling onto the road. Officials with Alameda County public works say they are working to secure the hillside. Thanks yoli. Firefighters started blocking the road at around 6 30 yesterday morning. There is at least one foot of water at the deepest point. Chp is urging cars to stay at least a mile away from the closures. This didnt stop some People Living in the area to go see the flooding. Water. You may remember earlier this month, people had to be rescued on highway 121 in schellville because of the heavy flooding. Which is why chp and caltrans is advising drivers to steer clear of the area nad Pay Attention to road signs. Flooding forced street closures in Alameda County. Alameda creek overflowed in a number of spots spilling onto walkways and trails. The flooding forced the closure of niles canyon road at mission boulevard. This was the scene yesterday at the south bay Mobile Home Park. You can see some of the roads were completely underwater, in some sections a foot deep. The back side of the Mobile Home Park is protected by levees and train tracks, but water came over the tracks and flooded the streets. Crews worked into the night to clear out the water. The spillway to the Don Pedro Reservoir is expected to stay open for at least four days. It is the first time its been used in twenty years.
