A San Francisco Fire Department strike team left who help out in El Dorado County earlier today fully loaded rig. They will be providing mutual aid to wildland fire crews. They could be there up to two weeks. Youre looking live at the town of weed, which has been devastated by the boles fire. The flames wiped out more than 100 homes and damaged 90 more. This fire is much smaller than the king fire, just a few hundred acres. But its been far more destructive to the town of 3,000 people. Now, we want to show you some video from the roseburg mill. The fire reached this massive pile of wood chips and crews are trying to make sure it doesnt ignite again. They are working on it around the clock. What the fire will do in Something Like that is it worms down and burrows in, very difficult to access because of the material. So we have crews on scene today. Its a whole division dedicated to just keeping that under control. Basically, you know, searching out where that fire is at finding hot spots. The plant itself was damaged, as well. A yearlong investigation ended with the arrests of julio sanchez, an necessary sanchez and sarah abraham. Police say they committed several felonies including wage theft, tax and insurance violations. The d. A. s office claims the sanchez, abraham care homes have accumulated nearly a Million Dollars in unpaid minimum and overtime wages. A federal Appeals Court is refusing to reconsider a ruling that allowed a south Bay High School to ask students to turn their American Flags tshirts inside out. It stems from a Cinco De Mayo celebration back in 2010 when students wore American Flag t shirts at Live Oak High School in morgan hill. School officials asked the students to cover up or go home. El dorado county is under an air quality advisory. Parts of neighboring Placer County are also in unhealthy range. Many schools in the area are limiting or canceling Outdoor Activities for now. All right. We see a little bit of activity coming in on the radar but its not all as precipitation. Really interesting. Just driving this smoke thing home, we are seeing a huge plume of smoke coming from that fire causing the air quality issues and also really lighting up our radar. Our radar sends out a signal. If it hits something, most of the time rain, some of the time smoke, well get a signal back. Reporter researchers are using a remotely operated camera to explore the shipwrecks just off the coast of San Francisco part of a two year archaeological study under way in the farralons National Marine sanctuary. Reporter this first series of dives focused on four sites, one wreck from 100 years ago still hasnt been identified. All of these going down and all of a sudden, a shape appears on the tv screen and in the boat. And everyone gathers around the corner stares at it excitedly, what is this . You know . Reporter they only know its a tugboat from around the early 1900s. Now an octopus lives where the skipper once commanded the vessel. We also look for knowledge. There are so many sunken ships they wont get to them all but one ship stands out. There is the Aircraft Carrier independence. Reporter an Aircraft Carrier . It is a very historic ship. Reporter after world war ii, the Aircraft Carrier independence was one of many ships used for blast studies at the bikini nuclear tests. In 1951 it was scuttled in deep water west of the farralons. Now soon it will be subject to a modern study. Noaa says scientists will have remote cameras on the sunken Aircraft Carrier sometime within the next year. That too is going to be pretty interesting. The Carolina Panthers also removed one of their players involved in a Domestic Violence case. They placed greg hardy on the exempt list today. He was found guilty over the summer of assaulting and threatening his exgirlfriend. He is appealing the verdicts and the panthers want to wait until the case is resolved before letting him play while he appeals the verdict. The one thing that the nfl and other professional leagues have going for them is that they are small enough to put in place regulations policies programs, exposure that gives them a greater opportunity to manage and control this absolutely horrendous situation. A second offense the player can get kicked out of the league for life but as we are seeing with ray rice the Nfl Players Union is appealing his indefinite suspension.
