Thank you so much. First to the top story which were looking at. We have a lot going on. Its a man hunt for two dangerous inmates mistakenly released from prison. Mark potter is in orlando. Reporter good morning. Paperwork was filed here at the Orange County courthouse ordering the Early Release of two dangerous criminals. As a result, they are out and being sought. They are convicted killers on the run. Both serving life sentences for murder, but walked out the door. We are apprehending these guys and putting them back. They were released based on forged documents that reduced the sentences. It had the signature of a judge who gained fame as the judge for the Casey Anthony trial. They had to have help from outside. Anyone with any computer skills can look at a document and take that document off of the internet and lift the signature and paste it somewhere else. Authorities say a third convict tried a d a similar sch earlier this year but failed. Jeffrey forbes was serving time for attempting to kill a Police Officer. The state Attorneys Office says he tried to use forge ed documes to get out, but an alert detective foiled the plot. It is now clear that the use of formed documents to obtain release from prison is an ongoing threat. Their mistaken release was discovered on tuesday, when a Family Member was notified of the release and called authorities. Now investigators are trying to find out how the two men pulled it off. Its very ingenius. Its a breakout without having to break out. Reporter now overnight, the family of roscoe pugh issued a statement saying they never because of the long sentence. Authorities are trying to learn if other innates may have escaped early this way as they concentrate on the man hunt for the two escapees who walked out. Thank you so much. Amazing. Until a panicked stampede away from a door. A vurt camera captured what theyre running from. A gunman from al shabab, he shot a man behind a counter. He struggled to move until another gunman came to finish him. As gun shots tore through the mall, trapped shoppers ran, falling over each othe in a restaurant, a few organized defenses. Two armed men can be seen trying to protect the room as the hostage roundup began in the supermarket. A mother and her two children pushed a ca ed ed a cart. In it, what seems to be a wounded child. And teenage girl limped forward as a gunman ordered them to keep moving. Through the first day with the gunmen seemed calm and methodical. Talking on cell phones. Kenyan Police Believe this were receiving instructions from aboard. As shabab leaders tweeted status reports to the world. This is the most accurate report to the massacre that would drag on for four ter fieing days. The mother pushing the cart and the children all survived the atrocity. These are also extremely useful to Law Enforcement officials, including in this country. They can study the videos, how the gunmen moved, how they congregated with a similar situation. The frightening episode outside little rock began thursday morning when he pulled a knife on a woman walking down the street and tried to carjack her, but she had no car. So he jumped on the bus, ordered the driver out of their seat and hit the gas. It went across two towns, but plus put up a road block. They deployed spike strips, he did not run over it. Reporter he gave up without a fight. None of the kids were hurt. Parents were alerted by an automated message. Parents, this message is to inform you that all students on bus 47 were safe. He looked like the pictureperfect family man. He gave her drugs, and she died. Reporter he married a beauty queen, eight children, but his waif wife came crashing down when his wife, michelle, was found dead in the familys home. Whos in the bathtub . My wife. Reporter her death was never rule had homicide. But her daughter long accused him of murder. He killed my mother who was my best friend. The most incredible person. Reporter after michelle underwent a facelift, prosecutors say martin mckneel overdrugged and drowned her in the bathtub. But they say he was at work. In court, they hammered home the coroners report. None of the medical examiners believed that michelles death was due to a homicide. If this guys innocent, he has a lot to answe hes accused of pressuring her in the facelift, overseeing the medications, almost overmedicating her once. He maybe gave her so many pills that she died and got rid of the pills. Yeah, but circumstantial cases are difficult to prove. This is a murder case. What is the weakest part of the case . Thats true. And causation is going to be a problem. Showing he overmedicated her and did to intentionally. My wife was recovering from surgery, she was in a lot of pain, we were controlling that by way of medication. Yes, i gave her the pills, but with a good intent to try to help her heal. And by the way, he says he has an alibi, he was either at work or driving his daughter to or from school. Thats right. But apparently his office is only about five minutes away from the home. And if you kill somebody by giving them a lot of pills, they dont necessarily die instantly. Not like a gunshot. I think the prosecution can find enough time to show hes good for the crime. And having the mistress move in posing as a nanny shortly after the death. If he was on trial for being a heel, he would be convicted. Theres a higher standard. We have a couple incidentson the peninsula 280 near ocean. Thats causing drama into the city via 280, which is unusually slow there. And 101, more traffic coming across the san mateo bridge from the east bay sideo where folks are using that as an alternate. We have slowing westbound, but you can see the red zone on the left. And across the bay, theres 92 slow into foster city, but not so slow on the peninsula. The dumbarton bridge is looking good and not a lot of slowing past the area into fremont. The south bay is looking really good as well. The bart strike and the approach to the bay bridge is the big issue. And the feeder roads throughout the area. Joseph jenkins and charles walkers were both serving life sentences. The men were released based on forged documents that reduced their sentences. A third inmate apparently tried the same thing earlier and officials feared the use of forged documents could be more widespread. Shoppers are seen rushing for cover in newly released video of the mall siege last month in nairobi kenya. Theres a panicked stampede away from the door. One terrorist can be seen casually walking up to a man cowering on the ground and then firing. The four day siege left at least 72 people dead. A high risk sex offender who fled canada has been tracked down in seattle. U. S. Authorities are now ordering him to register or face possible arrest. Reporter Seattle Police say officers found Michael Sean Stanley thursday when staff stopped the convicted sex offender from trying to contact a guest and called the police. He is considered a violent sexual predator. Reporter hes been the subject of a search for more than two weeks. He cutoff his electronic monitoring bracelet and fled to seattle. And while his whereabouts are known, stanley has not been arrested in the u. S. The reason, canadian authorities declined to extradite him. He will be forced to register as a sex offender and could be arrested if he fails to do so. We cant arrest someone when the person issuing the warrant wont come get them. He has a long history of sexual offenses against women and children. After his release in canada he was monitored by police and required to wear an ankle bracelet at all times. Stanley has not committed any recent crimes in the u. S. At this time he is homeless but police say he told them he has a plan to get himself off the streets soon. I think the mean girls are getting meaner because with all the social media thats going on these days, its a lot easier for rumors to spread. Reporter amelia says someone targeted her. She just would criticize if i wore shorts with cowgirl boots. Shed say thats so ugly. Why would you come to school . At one point on the bus it just got, like, physical. This year we decided to home school because it was just enough. Reporter meanness, they all agree, has become a path to popularity. Well, i feel like most mean girls, they do it for power. And i feel like some people are just sucked in, like my friend, shes been my friend for year, and recently in her middle school shes popular because of some of her mean friends. Ive been talking to girls about this the entire week and a lot of them describe bullying, female bullies, as vicious, backstabbing, gossipy. Theres a verbal element to female bullying and also online, the girls say this happens a lot on social networks, and it gets females power. How do we change that . I mean, is it parents who have to get in and break it up thems . How do we give the power to the good girls . Parents can break it up. One of my favorite answers from a young girl this week was you can be yourself, the more confident you are, the more empowered you feel, the more secure you are, the less that bully will get to you, the less power that bully will have over you and the less it will tear you down. Are girls struggling with more selfesteem issues than ever before because they can billion bullied at school, online, trying to please boys, trying to be good girls, they dont know what to do . Yes, absolutely. Cyber bullying, social media has its impact, creating permanent and public and lasting humiliation. So a lot of what parents need to do is to be able to a, monitor whats involved, and b, bolster that selfesteem and confidence. A lot of times you see kids that are vulnerable to bullying may have a history of anxiety or depression or may develop selfesteem issues or confidence or academic problems as a result of the bullying. That also makes them more susceptible for continued bullying. What is it do you think is that the ath the root of all this . Is it just the anonymous way that you can bully today . Is it that girls are more anxious than ever before . Yes. And i think the fact that there is more accessibility to this because of the internet option, but also because a lot of times children really are looking to peers. And at the age of 11 from onwards, we dont look to parents for approval anymore, we dont look to our teachers. Were looking to our peers. This gives the bullies a lot of attention and reinforcement. If the bully knows i can reinforcement. If they know i can go online and create more fans, so to speak. And you dont leave school and get away from the bully. That bully is in your phone, theyre on your computer. As a mother, i have two daughters and two boys and the boys are always commenting about how mean all the girls are. My daughters say dont get involved. Other people tell you to get involved. Some say dont go on their facebook and look at their Text Messages. Others say go in and get involved. Thats a big question. I think a big thing parents can do is be careful not to isolate your child. Its tempting to take away their facebook or move schools. Youre saying dont do that . I think you need to take bullying seriously and consider those options but if you isolate if youre being bullied and youre isolated that sort of gives the bully the power. Lets talk about that. People say were not an empatheic society and culture. How do you teach empathy. Its part of emotional intelligence. As we go to the work force thats something well take with us. Parents can help identify and validate your childs emotional experience. You may not always agree with their behavior but you can teach them to identify and selfregulate their own emotions. And thats a big part. Another thing is to teach them to walk a mile in somebody elses shoes. Use the Kitchen Table to talk about how would that make you feel, try to find out whats going on in school. Talk to them about feeling talk to them about feelings and showing them physical affection. Thats key not only on an emotional level but neurobiological level. Oxytocin helps us identify and connect with other people. Role of fathers. I think fathers play a very big role in empowering young women. I think most fathers dont know that. Tell me what a father can do if he sees his daughter closing down and feeling anxious, lowering her selfesteem. The first thing is recognize it. Be aware of it. Pay attention. If your daughters sleeping habits are changing or social habits are changing. Be in touch with it and reach out. Have a conversation. Be able to talk about it and offer her a way to. Okay. I stay out of the way and let the pros do it. But its still pretty cool to be on broadway. Reporter we tacked along to watch rehearsals and meet the cast, including familiar faces. Former senator Fred Thompson and the veteran actor. Its a nice revisit of a lot of the characters. I hope i do it justice. Reporter its hard to imagine now but when he wrote the book it was far from a best seller. I had never written before. I didnt know when i started if i was going to finish it. I didnt know when i finished it that i would ever get it published and then i didnt know if it would ever sell. It had a slow birth. It was almost a death. They put in 5,000 hardback copies and i bought 1,000 copies to try to sell out of the trunk of my car. Literally. I went to 35 libraries in mississippi for tea and cookies and at some libraries i would sell two or three copies and at some id sell 30. That was a big day. His next book, the firm changed all of that. Its success relaunched a time to kill. How many copies have sold . Probably close to the 12 million in 40 some odd languages. Wow. Reporter but while he always wanted to write a sequel, grisham was looking for the right story and he also had to convince a certain someone. His wife renee. Renee was not too keen on a sequel because she said when you wrote a time to kill, you were that young lawyer and im not sure you can recapture the authenticity of what we were living through 30 years ago. And i said i hear you but im going to try. And she said, you know, most sequels dont work, which is true. She was really encouraging. She is pretty blunt. I said, okay, let me write a few chapters. I think i can convince you after a few chapters. And i did. Reporter the result is sycamore row and a trial that keeps you guessing. I have a bone to pick with you. You kept me up all night. I love to hear that. Without giving too much away, it starts with a death of a man and he has a secret. He made a lot of money and left everything to his housekeeper and once that explodes, the town wants to know what was really going on. Thats the first two chapters and thats all im going to tell you. You have to read. Yeah, you have to buy the book, okay. Reporter after 32 books he is still selling and hopes his latest book is as good as his first. We have new details about a gruesome crash that pinned down 6yearold twin boys leaving one in critical condition. Police say a 90yearold man hit the gas instead of the brake striking the young twin boys. It happened yesterday afternoon on a busy santa cruz avenue in downtown menlo park. One of the boys was taken to stanford hospital in critical condition, and he is still fighting for his life. Doctors there performed surgery for several hours. The twin brother only suffered minor injuries. The driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs and has not been charged at this time. Grout it after that, grouting is very simple. Apply the grout into the cracks like that. 45 degree angle with your float and rinse it off with a sponge and then you got the nice cracks filled up. Looks beautiful, right . You can buff up that haze and get the finished look. This is exciting because nighttime is a great way to enhance the way your home looks. If you have a little bit of lighting, it can improve the exterior. You can light a tree like we see here and at night it gives you the dramatic look and feel to the property, right . Never have it. Then i found out i had it. You had it bad. I had stage 2a and a grade 3 tumor. So when i found out, i was lucky enough to have fantastic doctors who led me down the path of education. And once i found out about what i had, and that i was going to be fine, all right, i then put myself into taking care of my own health care. And it its really its eye opening. Its life altering, and then you have youre in charge of what you have to do. And once you get the education about what is happening to you, you are in control. And it gives you some sense of power . A very big sense of power. The funny thing, i remember when i was telling my boss, that i had it, i remember what he said. He said i know a lot of women with Breast Cancer and they have one thing in common. And i said whats that, he said theyre still here. The diagnosis used to be im not saying it isnt terrible for a lot of women, but it used to be a death sentence. It was so scary. When i had the when i found out i had to go through four months of chemotherapy, that terrified me because chemotherapy, of course, has, you know, side effects, but it has that look it has a reputation. Did you work through it . Did you take off the four months while you had the chemo . I took off the four months with the chemotherapy. I lost my hair, i lost, you know, everything, you know, my eyebrows, eyelashes, everything. It comes back. It comes back. I didnt know things. I found a website that was called tourdiva. Com that had everything you could ever imagine for, you know, Breast Cancer survivors and while youre going through it and what was amazing is i didnt know about any of this. I would find things. A spicy treat straight from the past. Kathie lees favorite fondue made in a pumpkin from one my favorite people in the world, andy medina. Were in todays kitchen with flavors for the fall. It is harvest season, with pull contin pumpkins at their peak. Why not put them to work outside and inside. Served in a hollowed out pumpkin and sure to please your guest, it is my very good friend, andy medina. Andy, so excited. Kathie has been raving about this dish since you made it a couple of weeks ago. We had a big party and what did you do . You took a pumpkin well, what i like about this, because you can get pumpkins once a year, thats what makes this so special. Okay. There are two great ingredients about this, which i like, which are the new mexico chili you put in here, only grown in the fall and pumpkins. You appreciate it all the more, because you can only have it at this time of year. Exactly. Like you can have the chili anytime, but the pumpkin you can only get once a year. You hollow out the pumpkin. We clean it out. Get all the gook out. Get all the gook out. What we want to do when you get all the gook out, you want to make sure you dont thin out the walls too much. Okay. Youre going to cook those walls. Right. Here is a clean one. It will look like that when youre finished. Okay. The most important thing is making sure we dont thin the walls out too much because this is our bowl. Our bowl. Our bowl. You got how much water . About an inch of water in there. After we pour the fondue in there, were going to cover it lightly with tin foil and cook it up. For about an hour. Yes. Were going to add our ingredients, the flour, cumin and paprika. What are you adding to that . Some chorizo in there, dried. Stir that up, incorporate it all together. This is new mexico green chile. I order this every year, it comes from hatch, new mexico. Im from colorado. This is a great dump that in there. It makes it special. Pour that all together, we incorporate it all. Okay. Until the flour is a little toasty. What you do is pour in the chicken broth. Mmhmm. Stir it up. Looks so good already. Smells like it is just it is the most delicious thing youve ever had. It is so much fun. Everybody was fighting over this. What is this . This is a mozzarella and a combination of Monterey Jack cheese and cheddar. Dump it in. Oh, my god. It is deadly, but delicious. It is worth it. You take all this in and put it back in the pumpkin . Yes, i do. Get it to where it melts a legal bit. So it is really not that difficult at all. You made me think this was we got to try it. We have a few seconds. Come on. Pour it in, cover it, andy, or no . Cover it with tin foil for an hour an take it off and cook it for ten more minutes. Cant wait. While youre enjoying that, andy made me the greatest margarita. The most delicious. You get a little side of the pumpkin with it too, dont you . Yes. So delicious. Get in there. How is it .
