That flight was headed to San Francisco from newark, new jersey on september 11th. The flight 93 memorial in shanksville, pennsylvania, are which is where the craft went down, will remember the 40 passengers and crew who thwarted the attack on the u. S. Capitol. Last night hundreds gathered for a service to honor those victims and represents the lives lost. Tremendous pride as i look around and know we are all part of a Wonderful Team as we celebrate the great nation and the courage ultimately of those individuals. And today the names of the 40 victims ll be read allowed at a wreathlaying ceremony at the national memorial. This morning in San Francisco the Fair Department will hold a moment. Silence. The department has done this on september 11th every year since the attack. A sittingwide a citywide ceremony to honor the men and women who died that day. They will also unavailable a piece of rubber from one of the World Trade Center towers. That ceremony starts at 6 45 this morning at the San FranciscoPublic Safety building on third street. Everyone is welcome to attend. Also here in the bay area, several other memorials. The uss hornet in almeda will hold a moment of silence and visitors can make cards for local First Responders. That starts at 9 45 this morning. And in the south bay the san jose Fire Department will commemorate the anniversary with a patriot day ceremony. A memorial mass and procession starts at 11 00 at the cathedral basilica. And in union city, a congressman will speak in honor of the fallen. The chp is looking for a driver that they say hit and killed a motorist in oakland. It happened near 580 and the 127th street on ramp. When the chp arrived they found a man in the far right lane with his motorcycle off to the shoulder. Officers said the driver may have made an unsafe lane change, running into the back of the motorcycle. The cchp said the victim may have been affiliated with a motorcycle club. All indications at the time he was riding the witnesses we had said he was traveling by himself. Officers do not have a description of the driver or the car, just the suspect car. It was a dark van. Another hitandrun crash, this one in san jose. Firefighters say one car tboned another, leaving three people trapped inside. It matcheddal 1 00 at the intersection of alyn rock and Pleasant Ridge avenue. Those three victims have been taken to the hospital with major injuries. San jose police are looking for the driver that hit the other car. We are learning more with a driver who was arrested after a violent san ramon crash that left a young boy dead on friday night. My family is going everything was doing everything they could, given their circumstances, but unfortunately she slammed into the back of the vehicle the children were all properly buckled, but elijah took the brunt of many impact and had to be airlifted to Childrens Hospital in oakland. He died right on the table. An 11yearold eric junior arrived in an ambulance, but they are okay. Malihan had minor injuries. And all they want to hear from her is im sorry. I cant have my son back but she should feel remorse about what she did. We approached malihans home for comment, but the people inside did not answer the door. They said she did not have prior dui convictions and she had a valid drivers license. Abc news. Protesters vandalized a busy afternoon. Abc7 news was at the bank of america near lake merritt where messengers covered the windows and atms all around the building. They painted over the Security Camera on one atm. There was enough damage the bank had to shut it down. Police arrested at least one person. Protesters want to stop prison labor, and the corporations they say are profiting from it. To be honest, if this happened during the day and i was trying to get money from the bank, i wouldnt feel safe at all. With this kind of vandalism, to this severity, i havent seen it before. That repairman estimates the damage to be at least 2,000. The atm company will be back out later this morning to clean up the mess and replace parts of that machine. She was back home a few days getting ready for the competition and we caught up with her. Our new miss california, Jessa Carmack from the looks of it, she was not expecting this moment. But many people behind the scenes saw it coming. Her coach, missy, still remembers the moment six years ago when she saw jessa in her first pageant. She was 15 or 16, ad when we saw her walk on stage, we knew she had a Little Something extra. Jessa had been competing in gymnastics. But when she was a sophomore in santa clara, she decided to try a pageant instead, hoping to win a college scholarship. I had no idea really what i was doing. We had to do talent, and i didnt know how to choreograph a talent, but i picked up something. I picked up my cheerleading uniform. We brought in all our family to come watch jessa compete. And low and behold, she won the title. Jessas mom was thrilled to see her named the most outstanding teen and later californias most outstanding teen. But it was a big change. We are a sports family. We wear football jerseys. Our baseball jerseys. So its a lot different. Theres a lot more sparkle. As a senior in high school she tried another dream. She tried out to be a 49ers cheerleader. Something she dreamed about with when she was little. And she made it. She got to experience a dream that not a lot of people get to experience. She was on the squad for four years while she went to college at san jose state. Then she went back to the pageant world and started winning again. Shes been miss santa clara, miss mission city, and nice miss north bay. In july she won miss california, bringing her scholarship total to more than 35,000. I paid for college 100 on my own, and with the help of this program im proud to say im debtfree off of any loans. Next stop, the miss america competition. Shes promoting healthy lifestyles.
