Band spokesperson told us that they are responsive and are being treated. Were also told we will get an update on their condition later today. This all happened in oakland last night at around 8 00. The two band members with the iconic r skpb group, tower of power, were hit by an amtrak train last night on embarcadero west in washington street, right next to yoshis. Thats the venue where they were set to take the stage. David garibaldi and Marc Van Wageningen were not in the designated crosswalk when they were hit. David garibaldi is one of the original members of tower of power and bassist Van Wageningen was filling in last night. Fantastic drummer. I cant believe that he wouldnt cross right in front of the train. Thats not like him at all. Reporter in a statement, amtrak says the two men were trespassing on the tracks. San joses Fire Department confirms deicing fluid is to blame for getting a Flight Attendant sick at san joses Mineta International airport. The fluid is nontoxic. A San Francisco Fire Department paramedic is scheduled to be sentenced today after pleading guilty to felony arson. The District Attorneys Office is recommending that 32yearold James Novello be sentenced to three years probation. He was arrested last august after a bomb went off outside his neighbors home. Novello was charged with 26 counts including possession of a destructive device and attempted arson. Police need your help tracking down a purse snatcher or snatchers targeting women at the stanford shopping center. They arrested these two men in San Francisco this week, one for being the smted get away driver in two snatchings and the other for an outstanding warrant. Police are now looking for at least two other people who were seen in get away cars. A newer red or maroon fourdoor sedan, possibly a toyota camry in saturdays incident and a black 1996 lexus es 300 fourdoor sedan in tuesdays attempted purse snatching. Novato police are searching for three people who robbed two Stores Within just one hour. First investigators say two women with a child stole thousands of dollars of items at a safeway on diablo avenue then 30 minutes later a man along with the woman from the safeway incident robbed a sephora. In both incidents, the woman threatened employees with a stun gun. The east bay Sports Community is making a huge donation to oaklands ghost ship fire relief effort. Representatives from the warriors, the raiders and the as presented a 750,000 check last night to the American Red Cross and the city of oakland. They have cleared that up and restored service in downtown oakland and trains are moving in all directions through downtown oakland people are waiting for the San Francisco millbrae train. The train took off so thats a good news for people who are here. And they are making an announcement right now over the loud speaker saying that there is a disruption in service so well see how long these delays are worked through and how long it will take for them to go through. I do see a train that is parked right outside the station here. Its not moving toward us, so im not sure what that means, and well have to use our patience here along with all the rest of the passengers who are waiting for their next train. New this morning, someone who lived in marin died of meningitis and now theres fear of exposure. The Health Department is currently trying to track down hundreds who took suolcycle classes with the victim. Reporter classes are scheduled this morning after a rider reportedly died from bacterial meningitis. Health officials are concerned that hundreds of people who shared a classroom with that person could have been exposed. This was first reported in the marin independent journal. It says that the patient died from bacterial meningitis and that Health Officials were notified tuesday. A soul cycle manager sent a note to other riders saying classrooms and bikes have been clean and had sterilized. Here are some of the ways bacterial meningitis can spread. Through saliva, coughing, kissing, or other lengthy contact. The risk of actually contracting it is low. We have new video from drone 7 showing the enormity of this damage from the weeks powerful weather. It flew over Alhambra Valley road minor pinole yesterday and you can see the massive hole caused by storm erosion underneath the pavement. The breach measures 70 feet wide and 30 feet deep. You can see as drone 7 flies into the gap, the fast moving river of water at the base washed away a whole lot of earth. That road is closed indefinitely. Deicing fluid is what kauded a Flight Attendant to get sick on a plane yesterday. Alaska Airlines Told san joses Fire Department residue from the fluid is what caused the issue. But that its actually nontoxic. Three Flight Attendants reported feeling sick about 20 minutes before the plane landed in san jose. Only one went to the hospital. Passengers say they heard from the pilot about what happened. The deicing fluid they put on in seattle created some kind of powder that got in the air system and they were checking it out. One of them was talking about he had he felt like his chest something was wrong with him for like 10 minutes. He felt woozy or Something Like that. We are working to get an update on that crew members condition. None of the 181 passengers on the plane was affected. The family of a man shot in a confrontation with San Francisco police says officers used excessive force. You shot another black man in San Francisco. Hes not an animal. Hes a person with a mental condition. Abc7 news was at a packed town hall meeting where the mother and brother of sean moore stoke directly to the interim police chief last night. Officers shot moore twice in the city last week. Police say they were breaking up a fight between him and his neighbor when they were assaulted. Subject had already kicked one officer and punched another officer in the face and that officer fell backwards down the start and that subject was coming down the stairs toward the second officer when he discharged his firearm. Moores family says he is bipolar and schizophrenic and they believe they could have deescalated the situation. Moore is many intensive care conscious and talking. He faces felony assault charges. Vallejo police need your help in identifying the gunman in the deadly shooting of a pawnshop owner. Armed robbers killed 49yearold tom thooe pult on december 20. They also wounded a store worker who was in a wheelchair. This is a surveillance video, shows the two men considered suspects in the crime. They burst into the shop on springs road pointing wechz weapons. Police want you to look at the sketch they released of one of those men. We just saw matt at west oakland station and it looks like those trains that are moving through are making up folks quickly and im not seeing a huge stackup on the platforms but that is a major delay systemwide but the problem has been resolved. That is reportedly due to Police Activity and that is all the information we have about that. And weve gotten the bay bridge metering lights flipped on in the last few minutes as well. San francisco officials have given the Millennium Towers developer to respond to questions made by three independent engineers. The city wants informing ant the condition of the sinking tower. Altogether hearing was held at city hall. It was revealed on december 15, the department of building inspection asked the developer to reveal how the building would perform if it settles any more than it has. It is currently leaning toward a neighboring sky scraper. The building is not anchored like those that are around it. Yeah, this was a really big problem earlier this morning about 4 40, we got word they could not get a maintenance vehicle off the tracks. They got that resolved but that was a long time that trains could not pass through the downtown oakland area. They are moving now in all directions and just checked in with matt keller at west oakland station, trains are coming through quickly. Its a major delay, though. So that means more than 20 minutes, usually about 30 minutes. I think theyre starting to make some progress, though. Overall, pretty light day on the roads here. Check out westbound 580 approaching Altamont Pass, only 22 miles an hour. Thats really not too bad. Reporter really frustrating morning. It is really cold out here at the macarthur station. A lot of people are bundling up waiting for the next train. Weve seen a lot of trains coming through over the last half hour. But one of the problems that is happening for these passengers that are coming here is theyre getting stacked up at the beginning of the macarthur station so all these trains are actually stopping on the tracks long before they get to the station here, so the delays, you can really see them coming in to the station here in oakland. I talked with one passenger who was really frustrated by his morning on b. A. R. T. We just got here. Im fed up.
