On this tuesday, april 16th. Yes, we cant wait to share that with you. But first we want to start with a check of our forecast with drew. Yeah. If you have to walk your dog this morning, youre totally fine. This afternoon is going to be very lovely. We have a warming trend getting underway here the next couple of days. Live look from our east bay hills camera this morning showing you we have a little bit of patchy fog in areas, but for the most part we are expecting a lot of sunshine coming our way this afternoon. And noticeably warmer temperatures compared to yesterday. Our coolest areas starting out in the 40s like danville at 4548 in palo alto. Good morning. Were at 49 in oakland in the north bay, slightly cooler, 46 in calistoga, 43. That current temperature in santa rosa. Looking at our day planner today, its a mostly sunny day. Well have some clouds from time to time. Your suns up here at 632 this morning at about 30 minutes, and youll see those temperatures are mild. This afternoon. Well have widespread 70s away from the coast. So going above average for this time of the year, a high of 70 in oakland today, 75 in santa rosa, 67. In the city it will feel mild, 77 in san jose will hit about 76. In concord. It gets even warmer here tomorrow. Reggie, well show you those numbers coming up in about eight minutes. Drew. Thank you. Were going to start with the protests across the bay area. The last one wrapping up with Police Firing pepper balls. These gatherings were not massive in numbers, but they had a huge impact. The chp arrested 38 people tied to the first round of protests yesterday. Protesters targeted three spots the Golden Gate Bridge and one location in each direction of 880 in oakland. For drivers ended up trapped for hours as chp worked to break up these demonstrations. Protesters went to extremes to make sure it lasted as long as possible, linking themselves to cars through tubes and chaining themselves to barrels filled with concrete. It took jackhammer hours to get them out. 12 hours after the protests first started, another group gathered outside the tesla factory in fremont. All the demonstrations were a part of what organizers say is the a15 day of protest. The protest took place on april 15th, or tax day. As a way to cause economic disruption. Protesters believe the demonstrations would target those who are helping to fund the israelhamas war. Is this tesla factory is one of the most productive factories in the state, and so in this area, we wanted to target a big center of production and really cause an impact. A lot of these companies are just thinking about their profits and uh unless, unless theyre affected, they need pressure. Protesters who spoke with abc seven say they will continue to make their voices heard. Abc seven news spoke with legal experts about possible consequences for these protesters. You can see this frustrated driver confronting some of them. San Jose State University professor greg woods categorized the actions on the Golden Gate Bridge and interstate 880 in oakland as illegal without the benefit of a license to engage in protest at these particular locations. These individuals are engaging in trespass. If we allow those individuals to engage in such disruption without any form of accountability, then we can absolutely expect more of the same in the future. Five months ago, while President Biden was in San Francisco for the apec summit, 80 protesters were arrested on the bay bridge and charged. Some of those charges included false imprisonment, refusing to disperse and refusing to comply with the peace officer. Those charges were dismissed with prosecution. Protesters getting a deal for five hours of Community Service and to pay 4,500 in restitution. As the story broke yesterday morning, we were live on the air with protests and the impact on traffic for hours. You can live stream us on abc seven news. Com, or make it easier and download the abc seven bay area app. You can also set up the app for push alerts, so you can get breaking news like this and avoid being stuck in traffic. Developing news tension is growing in the middle east. For two days now, the israeli war cabinet has been meeting to decide its next move after iran launched an attack on israel. Now, the Biden Administration is urging congress to pass a National Security funding bill, which is related to what we are spending in the middle east. A man is at the live desk tracking the latest reggie, the u. S. And other World Leaders are urging israel to deescalate the conflict with iran. White house Officials Say the u. S. Is not involved in israels Decision Making process, and its unclear what options israel is considering they are. There are concerns about a possible strike on Irans Nuclear facilities. Officials say iran did not give the us warning about the time frame of its attack. Irans intent was clearly to cause significant destruction and casualties. The white house is currently pushing for a National Security bill to be passed. House speaker mike johnson, who has been preventing the bill from moving through congress, says he wants to break the bill into four separate votes. Johnson says the voting should be done this week. The white house is against the idea of breaking up the bill and would like the funding for israel and ukraine to be approved quickly. Back to you at the desk, kumasi. Thank you. It is set to close in august and that has some patients worried. Abc seven News ReporterGloria Rodriguez joining us live in gloria, the board of supervisors will be hearing how this closure could impact the Community Later today. Good morning. Kumasi. The board of supervisors will hear a report. And from residents of East San Jose during a meeting today, the Emergency Medical Services agency studied the impact that closing these services will have on the community. Yesterday, some San Jose City leaders spoke about the need to save Critical Services at Regional Medical center of san jose. In february. The center announced the imminent closure of its level two Trauma Center, stemi services and other cardiac services. The center said they were just not being utilized enough to outweigh the cost of keeping them open. San Jose City Council members peter ortiz and domingo candelas, both have family members whose lives were saved at Regional Medical center without access to Regional Medical center, people like my mom would never have had a second chance. This closure signifies more than just the end of services. It represents a loss of hope and support for those who need it most. Critical services at the center are slated to close in august, but if the board votes to fight the closure today, they will take the concerns from ems and the community to the department of health services.
