The Trump Campaign releasing a letter from melanias speechwriter, meredith mciver, who described herself as an inhouse staff writer at the Trump Organization and a longtime friend and admirer of the trump family. Mciver says she worked on the speech with melania, adding, quote, we discussed many people who inspired her. A person she has always liked is Michelle Obama. Mciver says melania read her passages from mrs. Obamas 2008 speech, adding, quote, i wrote them down and later included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech. She claims she, quote, did not check mrs. Obamas speeches. The question now . Did Melania Trump not recognize that the words she spoke were virtually identical to the Michelle Obama quotes she herself read to her speechwriter . Mciver says she offered to resign, but trump refused to let her go. Now, shes apologizing for the whole mess, saying, this was my mistake, and i feel terrible for the chaos that i have caused melania and the trumps, as well as mrs. Obama. So, will the trumps apologize to the first lady, as well . David asked donald trump jr. Do you believe Michelle Obama is owed an apology in any kind of way because of the similarities in those two speeches . I dont know. Captain Robert Melton was gunned down after responding to drive by shooting this week, as many as 20 shots fired. Police now say it was not an ambush, but a tragic death in the line of duty. We believe this case is another example of a known criminal trying to escape arrest. Reporter police around the country on edge, now facing greater threats. And this devastating loss is yet another reminder that our courageous officers put their lives on the line every day in order to serve the public. Reporter so far this year, 32 officers have died in firearmsrelated incidents, a 78 spike compared to last year. Eight officers killed in the last two weeks alone in coldblooded assassinations. In dallas, and then, just this past weekend, the apparent targeted execution of officers in baton rouge. We are up against a force that is not playing by the rules. They havent played by the rules.
