WASHINGTON, D.C. â Congressman Paul Tonko announced that several local public health organizations have been awarded a combined $83,913,889 to be administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) funding programs that support local mental health services, crisis response, cancer research, technology systems updates and more.
âThis year has offered powerful, often painful lessons in the importance of public health and the vital services our health centers and workers provide,â Tonko said. âWe need to make sure these local facilities and staff can get the resources they need to get themselves and all of us through this challenging time, all while continuing to provide the critical lifesaving support that our communities depend on. This federal support will help ensure these folks and all who depend on them here in our Capital Region can access the resources they need. I will never stop working to deliver and expand essential federal investments like these that strengthen our local health systems, staff and the health and wellness of our Capital Region.â
