There are four ways to examine Loyola's 11-9 win over Georgetown at the Ridley Athletic Complex on Thursday night: through a 10-year lens, through a three-month lens, through a 60-minute lens and through a 60-second lens.
From 2008 through 2019, the Greyhounds won 11-of-12 matchups in the series, through the one-sided nature was reflected in the final scores — eight of those games were decided by two goals or fewer, including 2011’s epic four-OT matchup. It’s an important game for both programs, Jesuit universities in the Mid-Atlantic with a lot of shared DNA.
Coming into this game, though, there is little question the Hoyas were favored, amassing a 10-1 record, having avenged their lone loss to the season against Denver 10 days prior. The Hounds, on the other hand, were 6-5 and playing without three starters in attackman Joey Kamish, who is done for the season due to injury, A/M Evan James, who was held out due to lingering injuries but is expected to play Tuesday in the Patriot League Quarterfinals, and defenseman Kyle LeBlanc.
