Thousands in Craven, Jones and Pamlico counties rely on free food

There are also many nonprofits who offer support for those needs with free food distributions.  
But they are always in need of assistance themselves, with money and food donations. 
Here are six of the many giving groups that are worthy of support. 
Religious Community Services  
The Community Kitchen, 919 George St., New Bern. provides hot meals, available "to go" from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., Monday through Saturday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. 
The Food Pantry is dispensing groceries daily. Clients needing assistance are asked to call RCS at 633-2767. Requests will be taken by phone and instructions given on how the client should proceed. For other requests from Client Services, call 633-2767.
