The Routt softball team banged out 11 hits, and got hits when it needed them most, in a 13-8 win over West Central in the Rockets’ season opener Monday in Jacksonville.
“Kind of what I expected,” Routt coach Jamie Martin said. “I knew we were going to give up some runs. I mean, pitching — our pitchers did a nice job throwing strikes, but we’re not going to shut anybody out on that end of it. We’ve got to let our defense work, and they did a nice job most of the innings — and luckily, our bats came to hit, and we had a nice finish to the game.”
