Kemar Lawrence in action for the Reggae Boyz.
Toronto FC has signed experienced Jamaican international left-back Kemar Lawrence from Belgian side Anderlecht. The deal, which sees the Jamaican returning to the US Major League Soccer (MLS), will run through 2024.
The Canadian club announced the signing on Friday.
It has been reported that Toronto FC paid a $600,000 transfer fee to Anderlecht for Lawrence, who was sold by the New York Red Bulls for $1.2 million in January of 2020.
The 28-year-old previously spent five seasons with Red Bulls, establishing himself as one of the best left-backs in the league and earning an MLS Best XI selection in 2018 and an MLS All-Star selection the same year—under current Toronto FC head coach Chris Armas.
