Reducing the speed around a notorious Palmwoods intersection was the best solution to improve road safety in the growing hinterland town, an expert has said.
University of Sunshine Coast research associate Levi Anderson said safer signage and reducing speed - not speed bumps - around the rail bridge intersection could solve the town's traffic woes.
"(With) speed bumps, while they will slow down drivers momentarily, if drivers are in a hurry they're going to increase their speed immediately afterwards," he said.
"(This) makes larger infrastructure investments like traffic lights with passenger crossing or a zebra crossing going to be more productive.
