New Whiteland families unite for first-ever holiday light contest

What started as a question in a community Facebook group blossomed into a way to unite families and spread Christmas cheer in the midst of a global pandemic.
Having moved to New Whiteland from Carroll County this year, Dee Appleton didn’t know how the town celebrated Christmas, so she asked the town Facebook group if there was a town tree.
Appleton found out via the group there wasn’t a celebration — yet. Neighbors had a strong interest in a house decorating contest and a public Christmas display.
