As a member of the military for the past 19 years, Matthew Davis has served his country. Mr. Davis said being in the military teaches the importance of civil service and doing what is best for the group, not the individual. A group-oriented philosophy should bode well for the newest candidate running for Mashpee School Committee.
Mr. Davis, a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard at Joint Base Cape Cod, is one of two candidates seeking a spot on the school committee. He and Brian M. Weeden are running unopposed for the two open three-year seats on the committee.
âWith my current career, you have to be unbiased at times. Iâm not going to let whatâs best for me and my family let me interfere with whatâs best for the majority of families,â he said. âI try to be that person that doesnât go, âWhatâs good for me?â I go, âWhatâs good for who I am serving?â Thatâs a part of the civil service. Itâs not about âthe meâ; itâs about âthe them.â â
