Early voting results released by the Lubbock County Elections Office on Saturday evening show 64% of votes for the Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance.
Polls closed at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The final vote count, which will include the votes cast on Election Day, will be released later this evening.
Only about 19% of registered voters in Lubbock County voted in this election. The closest comparison to this election — a well-known ordinance on a May ballot during a non election year — is Lubbock's alcohol vote in 2009. Turnout for the Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance did not reach the 50,811 turnout for the alcohol vote in 2009.
