State senator aisha wahab says after talks with advocates and constituents in san jose, she authored senate bill 40p bad actors will be fired and terminated and announcements will be made and the public has full transparency of the incident. It was signed by Governor Newsom late last month to clarify that Police Departments can inform the public about why a Police Officer was fired. The officer goes through their entire due process, you know, has their union rep defending them and much more. The 63 page Defense Department report examined previously classified government documents dating back to 1945. Now, the pentagon found no evidence of any aliens visiting earth or any sign the Us Government conducted a ufo cover up. What we found is that claims of hidden programs are largely the result of circular reporting by a small group repeating what they heard from others, and that many people have sincerely misinterpreted real events or mistaken sensitive us programs as uap, or being extra terrestrial exploitation. The pentagon report says. The dramatic spike in ufo sightings in the 1950s and 60s was due mainly to the large number of tests of advanced us spy planes, perhaps in the 50s and 60s. They werent as used to seeing a lot spof things in the sky also, but very interesting. All right, lets check in with Steve Paulson for our weather. What do you see today . Tiktok sort of proved our point yesterday. We had kids. It was compelling kids to call members of congress, in some cases threatening suicide. Usually its, the staffers on the house who answer the phones are quite young, and they would say, does your teacher know youre calling us right now . And they woulduget a hanguup . And this is a delicate issue around here with politicians wanting to crack down on tiktok, while at the same time trying desperately reach its huge audience of young potential voters in washington. All right, frank is here. Good. Better . Worse. What . Its actually getting better, steve. But yeah, i had my track shoes on that first hour. Rain is not traffics friend. We all know that. Theres some fender benders out there, some slick roads, including. We had a fatal accident right after you got off the bay bridge west bound highway 80 between fourth and fifth street. Chp was out there for a good three hours as they diverted traffic off the highway. That hasusince opened up, but there is a little residual traffic getting off the bridge right now. Lets take a look at our triple a traffic bay bridge toll plaza camera. There you can see traffic isumoving well at this hour around 530 you effect once you get off the span into the city. But that seems to be clearing up highway 24. Lets take a look at that. And that is pretty caked at this hour right now. A lot of red tail lights on their way to orinda and into oakland and presumably into the city. So if youre coming in from the east bay, give yourself some time. Those roads are slick. And finally, a look in the south bay, where we got a few fender benders out there. But for the most part, south bay is incident free. Thats a look at traffic time. Now is 531. More than 300 jewish students, allies and others are expected to march through cals campus this morning. They say they hope to highlight the universitys quote, selective treatment of jewish people on campus. The march is set to head through sather gate, which has been blocked by propalestinian protesters and demonstrations within the past couple of weeks to liberate theugate. March really is our entire Jewish Community coming together for the first time and being aligned that its not okay, that our University Administration is not enforcing their policy. Hannah schlachter is an organizer of the march and a graduate student at cal who testified in front of Congress Last month about what she sees as the mistreated of jewish students on campus. Plans are also underway for a counterprotest to the march, and the University Says it has been in talks with both groups in order to keep the efforts peaceful. Liberate the gate is one of two demonstrations in support of the Jewish Community taking place at the university today. Is on his fourth day of a lock in inside of his office at cal. Jewish students on the Berkeley Campus have had to suffer a good deal of harassment , theres been a blockade in the middle of campus, and, the, the students who are sort of guarding that blockade, are targeting jewish students specifically, sort of threatening them, intimidating them. The university argues that the use of force against turmoil and escalation. And the university hopes it might use alternate means to mitigate the negative impacts of campus protests. Dave. All right. Tori. Thank you. Time 534 well, Governor Newsom signed a bill into law that was inspired by a Sexual Misconduct case involving a former Police Officer in san jose. It allows Police Departments statewide to release specific information about why a Police Officer was fired. Now, california Law Enforcement agencies can now voluntarily release that information without a formal request for information. A state lawmaker from fremont wrote the bill. The officer goes through their entire due process, you know, has their union rep defending them and much more. And when wrongdoing is found, and termination is approved, then the, you know, Police Department can be very proactive and let the public know. And that was the whole point of this bill. Now the bill comes in response to the case of former san jose Police Officer Matthew Dominguez in 2022. Dominguez was later fired and placed on a list which could prevent him from joining another Police Department in california. The president said but a former department ofords, Homeland Security said the president technically didnt say anything incorrect. Its not derogatory. Its in law. Its how courts have been referred to it. Its how the department, dhs, still refers to him as illegal aliens in court proceedings. I shouldnt have used illegal. I should as undocumented. So you regret using that word . Yes now, today, President Biden will be in New Hampshire. Hell be on the campaign trail. Immigration has been one of the main issues during the primaries. The Justice Department has reportedly launched a criminal investigation into the door panel blowout of an Alaska Airlines jet, the wall street journal reports.
