Name change. They think it will be confusing. Well have more on that. Im daria and im james. Yeah. Before we get to that, though, lets step outside. Weve got a beautiful start to this Tuesday Morning where this from high above mount tam looking over the clouds. Very nice. And its going to be pretty warm today, john. Yeah, for a lot of us today is going to be a warmer day than yesterday. San jose. Ive got you up to 77 degrees this afternoon. So definitely getting on the warmer side of things. We do have the return of fog to the coastline, which to the adverse is actually going to keep the coast a little bit cooler than yesterday was this is your view from sutro tower right now. The reason because that fog is pushed back in. We are seeing the return of an onshore breeze thats carrying that cool coastal air right back into the bay. Yesterday was an offshore wind so complete different direction. Watch for a few low visibility spots, especially in the north bay. Aside from that skies will clear out really nicely this afternoon. And weve got another day of sunshine and warmth just around the corner. 40s to 50s for our current temperatures later on today, we will be looking at a range of 60s at the coast to 70s further inland right now. All right, john, thank you for that probably back to work and school and it shows the high was starting to pick up get busier. The team in a ride into the city this morning. No accidents hazards there. Little bit slower along san mateo bridge about 22 minutes getting on and off. That bridge is going take a little extra time. Richmond center fell bridge 13 minutes last hour about 15 and the golden gate bridge. 37 in the tolls. 23 minute ride that reaches get to that strike now. Santa clara county nurses are on strike. They are. Yeah, its expected to last. A few days kron fours will tran been following. The story joins us now live from san jose with the latest and the picket lines which are supposed to be happening right now, right . Well. And it is happening right now. They sho ed up at around 6. 50, this morning in full force. This is one of 3 hospitals in Santa Clara County. And ill step out of the way and you can clearly see now its a Public Relations battle. They want the public to support them against the county, which are their bosses right now instead of being inside, they are outside. This is at Santa Clara Valley medical center. The other 2 hospitals were talking oconnor. Thats in san jose in the other one is saint louise regional in gilroy. Not to mention 13 clinics at them all together. And we are talking 4,000 nurses, so Emergency Services are still available. Non Emergency Services. They will probably be pushed back because they dont have the manpower takes to take care of all of your needs. You can still see people pulling into the hospital. But they only have 1000 replacement nurses, and that clearly does not cover 4,000 on the picket lines. This will happen all the way through early friday morning that nurses are looking for a pay raise not to mention, they say safer working conditions. The county is offering a 10. 5 pay raise. But the nurses say that is simply not enough, especially with what they are asked to do, which is why they broke off negotiations and they are hitting the picket lines. We will talk to them as the morning moves on. But again, this is not an depth in that strike where we have seen that weather on the picket line for as long as it takes for them to reach a contract. We do know with certainty it will be back at work early friday morning. And this is, by the way, costing the county reportedly millions of dollars to bring in the nurses not to mention rescheduling all of those appointments. Back to you. All right. Thanks a lot. Well. 703, is the time. And developing this morning, traffic was blocked on northbound as barry and boulevard between spring lake drive in colby street was closed at about 8. 30, last night. Today, the San Francisco board of supervisors hold a protest vote. Theyre not happy about the Oakland Airport wanting to change its name. Yeah. To include San Francisco, it might be confusing for some. Weve got kron fours michael thomas. Standby actually out at the airport now with why San Francisco, oakland or San Francisco, San Francisco. Good morning, michael. For now, im just going to say the east airport, i should say. But this new proposal really sending people into a panic. And if it does change, it would be San Francisco bay, Oakland International airport. But even the thought of that is already making San Francisco city officials relief down the alarm and state know essentially scheduling meeting today to vote to officially oppose that. Weve got video up on your screen so you can see why break it all this proposal came last week and that was when the port of oakland, which believes changing the name could bring more travelers to Oakland Airport. Adding that right now, most travelers who are around the world dont realize or know how close oakland is to San Francisco. Or even that its in the bay area. They say after the announcement was made, San Francisco supervisor aaron peskin posted to act woman known as twitter essentially saying intimidation or excuse excuse intended basically thing trying to name a temperate cisco. Its a form of flattery and that the idea isnt really neighborly. Adding that sfo officials also dont really like the idea. And they did say that weve got details on your screens. You can see with the current name is over to what the new name would be. No sfo. Officials say theyve been using the name San Francisco since the late 20s making it recognizable for travelers were trying to get to the city that if they added the name San Francisco to Oakland Airport, will just be confusing for people trying to get through and to sfo over the years we have seen airlines cut an ad flights to Oakland Airport. So if that name change does officially happen, the big question would be what travelers really know the difference. And back out here live. Keep in mind, nothing has been made. Official oakland commissioner still need to actually finalized that not meetings, not even set until the end of the month, but this morning were hoping to talk with travelers see if they actually intentionally plan to come to oakland if they know the difference between the 2 and hopefully we catch them. People who are either international or even just from across the country. So darya james, its a very you know, disagreement between the 2 sides of the bay right now. So hopefully well get some answers at some point. If this name change does go official and what these travelers have to say about it this morning. Live this morning in oakland, michael thomas, back to to live in the studio. Okay. Thanks a lot. Okay. 7. 33. Is the time more issues for United Airlines. We dont know the cause of it, whether it was caused a passenger who may put something down the toilet that shouldnt have gone down there or whether there was a problem with the lavatory that was not discovered before the aircraft left frankfurt, a united spokesperson said the incident involved a Maintenance Issue with one of the aircrafts lavatories. The latest in a series of mechanical and safety issues involving the airline. But it did not deter travelers like vincent wong for booking united for us. Were not really. Committee need. Airline, just whatever is easiest passes that our schedule. That seems to be the industry trend. According to heart of belt, he says that united Ceo Scott Kirby send an email to members of the airlines mileageplus. Loyalty is program acknowledging the recent Maintenance Issues and promising an increase of training for maintenance workers. And yes, united has unfortunately had a series of problems and many of them it involves flights to or from San Francisco. But im not hearing or seeing any data thats just people are quitting united north of. I think anyone should. Harteveldt says the ntsb will not be investigating the united flight that had the toilet overflow since they only investigate the most serious incidents. The faa has said that it will be stepping up its oversight of united sending more inspectors to airports reporting at sfo. In the meantime, the former president of the miami marlins, david samson says that sacramento could be a front runner for the as if it doesnt work out a stay at the coliseum. Kron fours Catherine Heenan takes a closer look. Crack down junk Health Insurance. The Biden Administration has just finalized plans to limit shortterm Health Insurance plans. 2, 3, months with the option for a onemonth renewal. This is a big uturn on trump era policy that allowed people to have those plans for up to 4 years. Last administration took that provision which is very narrow. For a limited emergency coverage and made a loophole. So maybe the the white house is spending the move as a way to protect consumers, arguing that short term plans. Do not offer comprehensive care. Theyre being told you can pay this incredibly low price and that good insurance. But it turns out its not. But turns, in fact, is not really insurance at all. But critics say the Biden Administration just wants people to stick with it on brand of Affordable Care saying it is taking away Consumer Choices and creating another problem. Creates gaps in Health Insurance. Some Health Policy experts are calling the rule change. Dangerous saying that people who get sick now, arlen shortterm insurance, well have no options if they hit their 4 months limit outside the Affordable Care enrollment period. The Biden Administration is throwing sick people out of their Health Insurance and leaving them an insured for up to 12 months. That same policy expert says most shortterm plans. In fact, do provide comprehensive coverage and labeling them as john key says, is wrong. Its not only garbage. Its dishonest because they are the ones who we can. Consumers here. So Affordable Care supporters have been worried for some time that shortterm plans would. Bring in younger, healthier people taking them away from obamacare policies and in the end they won.
