She would die from her injuries. Then on 7. 17, of last year, the Asian American justice movement, they were asking the San FranciscoPolice Department to release the video so they could see as well as the public can see the attack that happened to will then on the 21st, according to the asian justice movement, they say their sources told them that the San FranciscoPolice Department was investigating this not as a homicide, but it turns out it was an accident. This is important to keep in mind because on march 4th of this year, more than a week ago. Well, they say there was another Asian American woman who was attacked as possible hate crimes. Well, in the east bay taco bell has closed its Indoor Dining rooms at multiple locations in oaklands had the that there have been having trouble inside the dining room with unruly customers. But other fast food chains have taken similar measures because of crime taco bell employees tell us it might be because trouble has been caused inside in the window of taco bell on 35th avenue in oakland. Large signs telling customers that the dining room is now closed. The same could be seen at this location on heggen berger. Road customers are being forced to order food through the drivethru. Even this person who didnt have a car tried to order from the window because they werent allowed inside people who go to talk about all the time say theyre frustrated by this change people who are on the bus. Instead they came. They do allow walkups. Yes, not cool for people to not be able to go through. The drivethru going to the dining room. Only have to go to the jack to a taco bell employee telling kron 4 the restaurant has had to do this because people have been causing trouble inside. Taco bell is not the first oakland restaurant to close off Indoor Dining raising canes on Edgewater Drive also shut down its dining room last year. In the north, a Fairfield School resource officer has been arrested. Now after being accused of sending Inappropriate Text Messages to 2 teenage girls. Fairfield police say officer james lewis was working at Rodriguez High School when he sent those messages. Parents of the girls alerted the department. Lewis was later booked into the slot, a county jail and is now facing a series of charges including contacting a minor with the intent to commit a crime. Now, in response to this ongoing investigation, the Police Department posted on social media, quote, we are simultaneously disappointed, infuriated and saddened by this information. Acts like these violate the trust and are wholly inexcusable and fail to exemplify with the fairfield Police Department stands for. In the north. A woman was arrested in vallejo in connection with a carjacking where police say she stole a van and dragged a person was detailing that car 20 feet. Police say the carjacking happened last tuesday. The dea taylor was cleaning out a customers Toyota Sienna when a woman jumped into the van. Police say it still had the keys in the ignition and she took off dragging that detailer about 20 feet before eventually stopping and ultimately surrendering to police. The van was later returned to its owners. Man was shot while he was driving on the bay bridge. It happened saturday night. On the eastbound direction of the bridge to close down those lanes for a couple of hours as police investigated. The guy was driving on the bridge when somebody pulled up alongside and opened fire. Multiple rounds when into the car. The man was struck by a bullet taken to the hospital and treated and the chp is still looking for the car that opened fire on. Theyre urging lawmakers to fund the Cal Grant Program to help reduce school. That for about 350,000 students. This is video from a rally in february. And last year lawmakers agreed to expand it, but only if there was enough money in the state budget, if funded about 137,000, californians would become eligible for a cal grant. The Uc Student Association is leading todays demonstration. Lawmakers, by the way, recently introduced a bill that would require california schools have armed officers on campus. Whenever students are present. Currently districts can choose whether to have them or not. This legislation remove that choice. The Education Committee could hear the bill as soon as march 18th and if it becomes law, the state would have to reimburse each district for the cost of having armed officers. Its 9. 17. That means in late april early may average electric bills will go up about 3. 65 a month and gas bills will increase just over a dollar a month. It is absolutely unsustainable. Have double digit increase. 5th year after year. Martone with the Utility Reform Network says this latest increase. Is on top of the 13 rate hike that went into effect in january. Thats all bills go up. An average of 34 and 0. 50 a month. People who are seniors, retired fixed income. This able. These are the folks to get hurt the most. By these rate increases. These bill increases. More than anyone else. They need a limit. Tony is hoping customers will pressure state lawmakers to cap eugenie increases since 2019. San francisco has been exploring another option having the San FranciscoPublic Utilities commission purchased the grid and take over the distribution of electricity in the city and county of San Francisco. Made a formal offer to pg and e to purchase their grid for 2. 5 billion dollars. They have told its not for sale. And that the price is too low. So far pg and e hasnt entertain the buyout. But San Francisco is pushing forward. We think we can provide the service at a more reliable costeffective rate. We are structurally advantaged as as a local government and providing that service under the local government model. In the meantime, another rate hike request is still pending before the California PublicUtilities Commission. This one would see another 7. 2 hike in electric bills. Dan kerman kron. 4 news. With San Francisco supervisor wants to revive a program now to help unhoused people return to their hometown. This comes as the city is seeing more People Living on the streets. Crump was Michael Thomas is live in mayor london breeds term uses that number has gone down. Called the homeward bound program. It was initiated back in 2005 by governor gavin newsom when he served as San Francisco mayor. The Program Provides people with both travel and Relocation Assistance with an end goal of cleaning the streets of San Francisco and allowing up to 1000 unhoused people to get the chance to go back to their hometowns and reunite with family supervisors not pay. He says in recent years the program is only assisted a few 100 people, which is why hes proposing changes today to make sure it gets used. Were now putting him back in the municipal code ensuring that the Human Services agency hes overseeing the program between itself and the department homeless port of housing. And they will be in your reporting. And so we feel like this way, theres no way it can be sidelined again, very in the bureaucracy or an afterthought. The past critics have said that this program is simply a wave sweeping the issue under the rug and pushing people out of the city. But the supervisor says thats not the case. Police in san mateo now warning parents about a trending tiktok game that police say could put teens in danger. Its called senior assassins players use an app called splash in to track the other people playing the game and then they shoot each other in real life with water, guns. But the tiktok trend takes it a step further with players painting their water guns, black in some cases to make them look more real. Police say they detained several teens around the Hillsdale Shopping Center friday night and found multiple fake guns like the one you see here on your screen. City leaders say after 2 decades of broken promises, its time for the way to end. Its going bring about positive change in a historically disadvantaged. Area of not just san jose but Silicon ValleyCouncilmember Domingo canned ellis says East San Joses lowerincome population. Has long had to deal with limited transit options through this new project can tell us says it will allow his district to have more access to jobs and resources. It opens up a lot of opportunity for residents and Small Businesses and and working class families to get reliably to. And from point a to point the 2 and a half mile extension includes an elevated light rail track along capitol expressway from the alum rock station to the east ridge transit center, which will connect to bart in milpitas. The total cost of the project is expected to be more than 650 Million Dollars, which is more than what vta officials previously budgeted. But the vote on the project was seen by city leaders as crucial to make the Transit System more equitable to the east side of san jose. This could be a gamechanger for residents in the san jose. Researchers say the education that would normally burn in dry conditions at lower elevations are still green and its buried in snow higher elevations.
