The westbound lanes of 80 between 7. 80, in vallejo and highway 4 here in hercules contra costa county. That was shut down thursday evening on friday. They tore up the roadway and then all weekend they poured fresh concrete along several miles of the westbound lanes. And whats happening at the moment is there waiting for that concrete to harden. Certainly cant send vehicles onto wet concrete. So they harden up and then theyre going to paint it. We talked to caltrans about an hour ago and got an update on the project. Last night our crews were able to finish that last concrete pour. So now were playing the waiting game like concrete. Take here. Get our strikers and a stripe. The newly repaved weston corridor between 0, 4, incoming skyway, that 3 mile stretch. And so, hes right now as were on schedule reopen the highway at 05 00am on tuesday. All right. But for now in the east bay, Charles Clifford kron, 4 news. All right. Hopefully things go smoothly this evening. Charles, thank you. Im a story weve been following all weekend long. Tens of thousands of people remain trapped at the burning man festival in the nevada desert. Heavy rains created thick ankle, deep mud at the Festival Grounds making a way out a dangerous and difficult. One person died there over the weekend. Its still not clear if that was weather related. Kron fours amanda hari spoke with someone who was still stuck in the madrid and desert. Its a different experience now, but its still great. Heavy rains have left thousands of people stranded at burning man, including San Francisco, pride executive directors whose and fort i was going to leave yesterday i hope to i hoped i was going to leave today, but it rained again this afternoon. So probably not going to get out here till tomorrow night. Maybe the desert was hit with about 2 to 3 months worth of rain in just 24 hours between friday and saturday morning. You can see in the video that created a thick mud, difficult to walk or drive through. Event organizers closed the roads but some people still tried to leave either by driving in large vehicles are walking miles to the nearest town. Those who stayed were told to shelter in place and conserve food, water and fuel. Thank god. My friends who invited me very prepared. They were conserving a little bit. Were not were were not getting as many snacks the days we might have. And were were conserving our water like everybodys checking to make sure young of fuel the of probate ford was initially camping but is now staying in an rv with some other people. She says she had no idea. This weather was possible. But those who chose to stay are rolling with it for the most part everybody i encountered. Get on with it. You know, its part of being as part of being a burner. Ive been taught. Every year you deal with some kind of obstacle and how you deal with that popsicle kind df defines whether you should be coming here. Not festival. Officials are hoping to reopen the road monday say that i survived the 2023 burning man flood. That was amanda harry reporting for us. The and burn was initially supposed to happen on saturday. It was moved to last night, but that that got canceled this well. Its expected to happen sometime today, but i know a lot of folks are trying to make their way as they have a chance today. We do want to get you a check of the forecast. Taking a live look outside now. This is thats the man thats usually supposed to be burning that should have burned on saturday. Obviously still standing. Can see people out and about Walking Around today. Things seem to be a little drier for them. Credit for meteorologist kyla grogan here with more details on what theyre going to be dealing with over the next couple of days. Kyla. Yeah. So the good news is the low pressure system that brought all that rain is now tracked off. You can see its bringing rain to parts of utah down into even parts of colorado at this time. But i wanted to take you back and kind of show you how this happened. And to do show you kind of Black Rock Desert areas right there. Thats about 140 miles north of reno. And this is what happens starting thursday going through friday. You can see particularly on saturday. So those heavier showers that just rolled in there. This was a system that was from a low pressure system to the northwest. So its not impossible that this happens this time of year frankly monsoonal moisture is usually the bigger concern. But as you can see, that got going. And once one of those band sets up right where you are, it just keeps on going. So that was the once you have that kind of water in a desert, it does not seep into the ground quickly, lakewood in other places because the ground is so hard it can handle it. So you get all of this runoff. You start to get off the mud, but they should do a little bit better today. Now having said that take you to future cast and show you as we get into tomorrow morning, just a little bit of rain is set to come there. That will not help the situation. So hopefully they get enough drying today that this afternoon they can take a better run ad ed. I was just looking at the updated. It said they were kind of encouraging people to wait till about noon today before they tried to make what they call the exodus out of burning man. So think some good thoughts. And we have a lot of bay area folks that are out there and hopefully theyll be able to get out without any incident today. They are all pretty well prepared will say that. And that helps live. Look here at the golden gate bridge. You can see the marine layer is certainly present. We are cool today. A little bit below average. These are your current temps in the 60s and 70s. Ill be back in a bit. Well talk more about what the week holds for us after now. Send it back to the kyla. Thank you. The music world has lost another saying our breaking news this afternoon. And my patents say you know doc, it really works. Southern nevada is trying to get all their ducks in a row to build a baseball stadium for the as at the site of the tropicana. But its not a done deal yet. John langeler looks at the next steps. We hope that happens pretty soon. We think that it well, the next step for the as is Major League Baseball approving its move to las vegas. So far that meeting has not been scheduled. Lbc va executive director steve hill says that for our end of the deal, a lot of details still have to be hammered out. We have to go through the Stadium Authority process where started Development Agreement to lease not relocation agreement to legislation gives the Stadium Authority 12 months and then we have ability to extend for 6 months to get this deal done about 60 document had to be signed for allegiant stadium. And hill says he expects a similar number for a baseball stadium. One of the biggest will be the community Development Agreement committing the players to events like youth clinics, a committee of 7 people will oversee that theyll get appointed by the governor, Senate Majority leader, speaker of the assembly, clark county and the Stadium Authority. And if all those steps dont get done in time, all of these steps have to happen. If they than this move doesnt happen. But does las vegas need the as would say more than that. We need the stadium. We need the venue. We know if the lbc va that there events that were turning around that are not Major League Baseball. That need a venue to play in that stadium is going to be a Perfect Place for those events. Hill says he expects everything to go smoothly and baseball to be on the strip in 2028. I think trying to look towards the north bay here from our sutro tower camera kron 4 meteorologist kyla grogan here with more details. Ill tell you the drive in this morning. It was socked in on the golden gate bridge. Yes, and it still isnt there something a little drizzle out there, too. So if you are on the roads, just be careful, especially for the coast. You could see some slick roads out there. However, having said that, temperatures are going to be pretty nice. And you can see right its lovely, right . 77 in los angeles or 76 in bakersfield, sacramento, about 78 60s along the coast. A lot of 50s here to Half Moon Bay right now. Just 58 degrees. Same story in pacifica. But san jose. At 75, weve got some nice 70s. Definitely not. 32 degrees in concord. I can tell you theyre having trouble with that gauge today. They are about 75 degrees. 73 in right now as well. And today were going to say a little bit below average. So normally feel San Francisco, we should be about 70 degrees. And today were likely only going to get up to about 64 because of that marine layer. Oakland, looking out for 69, you can see some upper 70s in spots like san jose and some 80s in the inner east bay livermore, concord, even santa rosa looking for 82. But still thats below average, right . We should be a little bit warmer. So we look at the temperature trends here. This is a live look from the east bay. Were starting to get a little sunshine. This is going to the pattern were in for the next few days. And its kind of a zonal pattern, meaning it doesnt go up and down a whole lot until we get towards the end of the week. So these are our inland valleys where were looking out for those kind of low to mid 80s. And by the time we get to friday, thats were going bring it back up to about 90 degrees. So low pressure, which is what brought all that rain to burning man is now scooted off. Weve got a little High Pressure here off the coast, but really its the High Pressure thats going to be moving from the Desert Southwest. That will start to warm us up as we get into the end of the week. But between now and then, as you can see, its going to be all about the fog in the morning in the sun in the afternoon. And thats about all she wrote for our forecast. So taking a look at the numbers here. You can see warm up a bit tomorrow. Then well kind of stay there for the next couple of days. By friday. Were going to pick it back up, head into a whats looking like a really nice weekend rates. 70s around the bay low 90s, not too bad inland. Back to you. Kyla. Thank you. Well, like out there last night. Lets talk about our forecast this afternoon. Taking a live look outside. Theres a cruise ship. Docked there at the embarcadero today. Folks enjoy the weather that weve got here in the bay kron. Meteorologist kyla grogan here. More details what it looks like all across the yeah, hey, there are starting to get some sunshine out there. But notice if you take a look at Half Moon Bay still sitting in the clouds certainly see from the mount tam cam. Theres some of that marine layer that hanging out and at the golden gate bridge. Right . So we are getting the sunshine in here. You see it in the east bay hills and in san jose. But there are spots that are still dealing with that cloud cover. Were taking a look right now at the bay bridge run into the bay bridge we are going to that afternoon, sunshine for most of us except for think the coastal stay cloudy but below average temperatures certainly today tonight that marine layer will return a little coastal drizzle is possible. And as we look towards the end of the week, were going to warm it up and we can talk about next weekend already. Its looking pretty current temperatures right now. 59 in downtown San Franciscos are running a little cool. Certainly if youre out Half Moon Bay, same story there. 58. But 75 in san jose, 80 degrees in antioch. Were getting some nice low to mid 70s up in the north bay as well. The wind is relatively calm. Its return to that kind of classic northwestern flow about 15 miles per hour. Right now at sfo and an onshore flow is what were seeing as we take a look at storm tracker, you can see how everything has kind of calm down, right . That low pressure system tracked off to the east and now were getting just a very kind of typical bay area pattern where weve got a little bit of low pressure to the northwest and High Pressure over the Desert Southwest and eventually that High Pressure over the Desert Southwest will start to warm us up. And that will change things. But for now, its all about the kind of cooler temperatures and just the classic marine layer that hangs out at the coast and gives us a little said in the afternoon. So what im calling this is kind of zonal flow. Youll see why as the low pressure moves on, you see everything kind of gets flat here, right . And that means that we dont see a lot of variation in temperatures. But as we get into thursday, this High Pressure in the Desert Southwest, well start to move up and that will start to change our weather. And thats why were going to get some warming as we head towards that. So for today, 60s out of the coast, a pretty cool around the bay in the 70s inland. Low 80s for you. Tomorrow are going to warm it up by about 5 degrees inland. And then we kind of stay there. We kind of hang out there tuesday, wednesday and thursday by friday. Thats when that High Pressure is talking about the Desert Southwest starts to be more present in our forecast and that will take us towards next weekend. As you can see, the little warmth and a little sunshine. But today, if you have any festivities outside, i think should be just fine. Were looking pretty good for labor day afternoon. Back to you.
