That crash happened about 5 oclock this afternoon. Police say to parents are pushing their daughter in a stroller when an suv hit the father and the little girl. Police have not identified the victim say tell us the family was visiting from out of town. Kron 4. Sarah stinson has the latest from the scene. Were here at the corner of 4th and king streets where a driver struck and killed a 4 yearold girl crime scene. Techs are on scene trying to wrap up this area because its been closed for hours now. We know a driver struck this 4 yearold girl was in a stroller at the time. Her father was pushing her in the crosswalk. Here and the mother was alongside them. Now the stroller was pinned between a pull and the suv. Mercedes, the girl and dad were rushed to the hospital after they were able to get the girl out from between that poll and the suv were told the father has lifethreatening injuries. Were still waiting on an update on his condition. Police say the mom was not injured this crash. Happened one block from oracle park at 5. 15, an hour and a half before the game started. Crowds are really starting to grow here as they do right by the caltrain station. Muni Police Crime Scene techs have been gathering evidence. They really concentrated a lot of their efforts on the right side of the suv. Theres a lot of Traffic Cameras in this intersection. So im sure investigators are going to be coming through that video gathering the evidence they were not able to confirm what led up to tae crash, but they did say the driver stayed on scene and is cooperating. They also said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be involved at this time. Patrols were out here. Muni was quickly on scene since the game cause a lot of crowds. They commonly stay in this area and guide pedestrians through this busy intersection. We know it was chaotic situation where the vehicle may have been and was was unable to move for whatever reason. And just before noon, a big announcement, a tentative agreement that calls for sweeping changes for one wage increases in the first year by 6 with 2 more years of pay increases. Also an increase of one to 8 weeks of paid family leave more competitive, bilingual pay and an expansion on retention and recruitment improvements. Of course, everybody is always happier with higher wages. But i think more so that just shows aspects that are going to assist with the retention recruitment issues are going bring a lower the level of stress all the in place in the city of san jose. Santa clara county board of supervisors announced they will partner with the Salvation Army. Define more shelter for people in need. The ultimate goal is for the Salvation Army to take their 2. 3 acre property in downtown san jose and convert that into affordable housing. The Salvation Army with the help of Santa Clara County is planning on transforming there. And there will house Emergency Shelter in downtown san jose from 70 to 112 on tuesday. The county board of supervisors directed the county administration to come up with Funding Options this fall to help further support the Salvation Armys mission. Whats different here is that. The folks who participate in this interim housing. Well have an opportunity to get into a pipeline for permanent housing supervisor. Cindy chavez says in order for interim housing to work. There must be up at the permanent housing. And the goal is to permanently house men and women on the Salvation Armys 2. 3 acre campus in downtown san jose.
