So far its 2 contained more than 22,000 structures are threatened. Its destroyed about 80 homes in napa and sonoma and we have a map here showing just how widespread the fire is within napa and sonoma counties evacuation orders changing with the course of the wind. Some of the 70,000 residents in napa Sonoma County still can return to their homes. Santa rosa isnt much of a concern right now because the wind is actually blowing away from the city so at least some positive news there. But in Sonoma County people who live in northeast. Bennett valley. Oakmont stone bridge kenwood all those communities down to the valley of the moon just above glen allen cannot return home right now about all those areas are within that reddish orange mandatory evacuation zone. It falls just between west of fire road and across to skyhawk and if now to napa county and we have a map there showing you the blue on that map indicating the mandatory evacuation zones, some new evacuation orders there for state route 29 and highway one 28 foothill boulevard to the county line between Diamond Mountain and Petrified Forest road. That includes angwin in and around Robert Louis Stevenson a state park as well down to the south top of a Southern Nash say southern top of Lake Hennessey and south and west of highway one 28 as well as north calistoga by the fairgrounds right up to Greenwood Avenue section to the south is now downgraded to warnings. Thats north of petrified force road is shown in yellow. Theres also a warning for the Chalk Mountain area this morning. So if youre in that area. Youre under a warning now so be advised. Lets continue now with our Team Coverage of the fire this morning as its burning in napa county kron fours will tran is live near saint good morning. Well. Good morning james and ari im at highway 29 and deer park row you can see there is a chp officer right behind me we did not see this yesterday. The fire continues to burn i did not see a hard closure they did allow some people to move up and down highway 29 yesterday but because the fire still going its too dangerous. This officer is here not allowing anybody but authorized personnel to go beyond this point so this is deerpark road you can see the car here. Theres another car at this location right behind that van so hard closure if youre going from saint into calistoga i dont see any visible flames from my location, but of course we do know that the fire is burning as we speak let me show you some video that we got in the overnight hours the fire is moving through this community that the rugged dry areas and you can see. Just unfortunately how spectacular the flames are it continues to chew up. Dry land. It is threatening. Dozens of wineries they had been told either we already evacuate or get ready to evacuate causing millions of dollars worth of damage. Some of these are iconic wineries that just went up in flames. Firefighters are doing their best to slow down. The wildfire. But unfortunately because of the conditions, including the dry terrain it continues to go. Despite airdrops if theyre using throughout the day right now they are obviously trying to protect lives try to protect p operty. You talked about 22,000 structures threatened at this time i was here yesterday james and darya and at that time it was right around if you might recall around 8500 structures threatened so you can clearly no that is getting worse before it gets better as far as whats going on with the evacuations, many people have been evacuated. Highway 29, i was down here yesterday, nobody is here calistoga is without power. We will try to talk to First Responders to see whats going on. It is a cool morning and that is not good because they like like humidity high. So the fire. Can slow down just a little bit. Again there is hard closure right here. Im sure on the other side calistoga theyre doing the same thing back to you. All right, thank you very much well. And take a look at this video that a viewer sent us it shows the glass fire above santa rosa and calistoga and you can just see the smoke and flames coming from this they were flying over sfo and they looked down and saw these huge plumes of smoke and the fire looking at it from thousands of feet up really gives you an idea of just how much is burning this morning. Well we have Team Coverage again of the glass far this morning as it burns up in Sonoma County as well lets take a look at the map and exactly where kron fours reyna harvey is on brigadoon way near great hair and drive several homes were damaged there. Lets go to her for the latdst arena. Yeah good morning. Its really eerie in this area because you have houses on this block that are completely gone and then you have houses that are Still Standing near ivanhoe here are the fire crews as you can see theyre still on scene i just spoke to them they tell me theyve been here working. More than 24 hours here trying to make sure that they continue to keep those hot spots out from the homes that are still here. The like i mentioned polls are completely gone some homes are still. This one right behind me this is at 5, 7, 3, 3, and i know its really dark. Right now but were going to show you video of a neighboring neighborhood hear the hiss also been devastated by the fires. You can see here homes but throughout this entire neighborhood level to the ground. You know the most serious thing about all of this is just days ago here in my neighborhood that youre looking at your screen. Families were year people work says they were going about their normal daily routine and now completely leveled. Throughout most of these communities self right here on brigadoon way warehouses throughout the neighborhood. We have been leveled to the ground many families are going to coming home. In the next few days, wondering you know if they had anything left from their home if you live in a neighborhood like here on way were firefighters. Still here around the clock watching the homes front to make sure that no hot spots in tin you to sleep there are some homes even save here and not and there are some homes that have been completely destroyed levels as the morning goes on. Were going to of this neighborhood and see more of the damage from capitol are now often about people in the studio ok, thanks a lot. Rhonda well check back with you and we will continue our coverage all morning long of the glass fire of dating you on the details the numbers for that are affecting evacuates. This morning where you can go and the air quality in that area as well as here in the bay area too. Meantime happening today restaurants in San Francisco are going to start serving you. Indoors places of worship can also allow worshippers indoors. 4 Sarah Stinson on the story for us live in San Francisco with details good morning sara. And theyre good morning. Im live here on fillmore street where as you can see the twinkly lights behind me this is how restaurants have been surviving during this time setting up a Great Outdoor space for people to eat but now they can finally allow customers to eat indoors at 25 capacity thats going to get for some of those colder San Francisco days places of worship can also reopen at 25 capacity or up to 100 people take a look at your screen you can see some of the new of places that can reopen starting today of course there are Health Guidelines that they have to follow including each restaurant needs make sure that face coverings are worn by staff and customers at all times except when the person is eating or drinking it all these guidelines are very similar to the Outdoor Dining guidelines you have to wear it while ordering while waiting to order any time staff is at the table which ive never seen anyone do here in San Francisco. I guess i sean ive people just take off the mask when they get to the table but that is key to remember restaurants are encouraged to use reservation systems to ensure capacity limits as for places of worship they can reopen indoors with up to a 100 people but they can continue outdoors with up to 200 people as long as people can social distance that churches must conduct Health Checks of people before they enter the facility face coverings required at all times except to consume food or drink. Its essential to ritual or ceremony as we know gyms have been reopened a 25 capacity for the last couple of weeks indoor movie theaters, though theyre going to have to wait until october 7 so a little bit but we know another countys most movie theaters have already reopened still big progress here in San Francisco with Indoor Dining in places of worship reopening endorse reporting live in San Francisco Sarah Stinson kron 4 news. All right, thank you very much sara theres also good news for people who cant pay the rent in San Francisco. You wont be evicted until the end of november at least because yesterday the mayor authorized the 60 day extension of the citys commercial eviction moratorium. The original moratorium was going to expire today. Last week the governor signed an executive order allowing local cities to continue banning evictions on commercial tenants. The mocking answer the question why were said that he caused us to the says they are left would you shell out vision. Well coming up on the kron 00 04am morning news, a chaotic debate between President Trump and democratic candidate joe biden were going to show you more of what happened on stage. Heres a quick live look outside we have our camera. High atop one of the mountains here in Sonoma County looking down over the fires below well have much more coverage. The fires that are wrapped in the north bay throughout the morning show stay tuned, weve got more coming up in just a 5. 14 right now another good night of sleep in it was cool again, but im wondering is going to heat up again in my neighborhood. What do job. Yeah this afternoon getting hotter but then cooling right back down into the evening tonight. So at least well have that daria for those of us that are going to sleep a little closer to the bay or the coast you do have that nice cool down will come a little bit later the further inland you get as for conditions right now theyre foggy a little bit of a fog streaming into the bay overnight along with that cool coastal breeze that offered nice sleeping weather last night today gets to be another hot one and for some of the north bay, another hazy one too as we still see smoke put up from the glass fire up in the north bay as you can see winds in the vicinity of the blazer overall lot calmer than they were to start the week on monday, a continuation of what we saw yesterday are relaxing of those hot dry inland winds replaced by cooler and moister air from the coast that is really cleaned up their quality along the coast or worst of air quality is of course in the vicinity of the blaze up in northern ap an eastern sonoma counties. But also some hazy conditions in the east bay today winds pretty light overall they will pick up into the latter part of the day and thats going to be your cool coastal breeze that eventually pushes in that nice cool air all the way to our inland valleys and offers that good sleeping weather nicer conditions too. Have opened up the windows at times but make sure to check their quality beforehand weve got those spots where quality is not ideal. 60s and 70s for your highs and San Francisco as well as in coastal spots. Well its back to the 80s we go right alongside the day burlingame a 85 seeing carlos 89 Mountain View 87 similar to yesterday and the spots, south bay temperatures upper 80s to low 90s as well with san jose at 90 degrees freeman through hayward in the 80s while 90s in the tri valley on up through danville and walnut creek each at 99. Oakland at 82 very similar to yesterday as well just to triple digits on the map fairfield and vacaville being those spots well back to the 90s and areas like Santa Rosa Napa and petaluma tomorrows temperatures will be similar to todays with a few more triple digits showing up inland but after that the cooldown really kicks into gear and by the weekend ahead our warmest temperatures are only in the 80s with bayside areas in the 70s and well keep that Better Weather around on through the course of next week. Robin. All right, thank you john were off to the bay bridge toll plaza, im noticing busier traffic right now heading into San Francisco so were off to a really good start. No problems here, no hot spots so come on in now is your chance to beat the rush. Its only 8 minutes thats a really good average off to fremont street over to 92 are checking the drive across the san mateo bridge lots of brake lights filling in on the flat section but its still under 15 minutes for the drive to the peninsula. Were checking the nimitz because we have a stalled northbound at winton thats in hayward so watch out for that car in the left lane. Maybe just a little bit of a delay getting through but the rest of the trip looks good milpitas Fremont Hayward san leandro no other big problem so only 19 minutes from to 37 to 2. 38. Im not going to answer the question answered that he caused us the new just as were left would you who is on your list joe this on right just as i think be traced back to court. We knew that get the final word. Well its hard to get any word with this cloud excuse me this you know i mister how. And teachers an idea not an organization you got it not is tonight the fbi. Theres fbi director mueller said well you know i dont know that weve got were done sir every move on to the is there a shot an idea there is going be honest. Its a very up. Now i the answer to the question is now ukraine out i served with a billion dollars of you know when youre late not youre doing is youre going to true gentleman is i hate to resign to be a white knight be different than the 2 of you. The answer the question i couldnt hear a thing. Off they were shouting each other and i dont know what the questions or the answers were yes, i mean i guess you could call the debate but as more of a shouting match there President Trump and the democratic contender joe biden. Trump as you saw a interrupted by almost every turn as they debated several hot button issues we have adrianna robins now with more on the showdown. Tuesday nights debate here in cleveland has been described many ways but president ial isnt one of them. In the first of 3 meetings between the 2 candidates, they fought to call each other names and bickered over serious issues. You agreed with Bernie Sanders on a plan how salute legal light and we will at best at it you have socialize medicine. Mister president are you what. Even moderator. Chris wallace struggle to keep control, but its not going to be honest its a very up. Now i the answer to the question is now ukraine out i served with a billion dollars of you know when youre late not youre doing is youre going to have true gentleman is i hate to resign to be a white knight be different than the 2 of candidates, play the blame game more often than focusing on their own as the president has no plan. He hasnt laid out anything he knew all the way back in february how serious this. Crisis was. He knew it was a deadly disease. If we would have listened to you. The country would have been left wide open millions of people would have died not 200,001 person is too much its chinas fault and should have never debate that will be remembered not for substance, but for lack of style and and this button up this segment to give you a minute to answer sir. You have repeatedly answer is no. I think you have a stated lately have know youve been talking to an end life and im asking you i would not get i left you know you want to switch we would very quickly can do that. Coming into the Debate National polls showed between 3. 11 of voters were still undecided over the next few days well see if any were influenced by what they saw last night in cleveland, i major eruptions. Discussion on kron 4 Catherine Eden hosted a special edition of inside bay area politics and our political analysts gave us their thoughts on who came out ahead. I think its going to change anyones minds will probably reinforce peoples perception of both candidates from their respective viewpoints i would say this were talking about this during the break if the next debate starts like this after 5 minutes people are going to search train off the tv because youre not getting as much as you want and the substance that people do need at least for those that 10 not there and decided were not going to get it from this kind of former i think its a missed opportunity for the president with independence. And so and thats really the outcome that i does not mean much fossilrim voting. I wrote a whole book about that. So i think its a missed opportunity and that regarding president must do better the next time you better pick we will speak to michael yaki and Tom Del Beccaro again this morning at 7 3830 respectively so tune in to get their perspective on what we learned over 10 learned out of that debate on what that was that we all watched last night. Time now is 5. 20 to levi stadium in santa clara will serve as a Voting Center for the november election, the San Francisco 49 ers made that announcement saying the effort is meant to ensure that residents have a safe and easy accessible location drop up to drop off their ballots participate in early voting or vote in person on november, 3rd if they so choose early in person voting begins on halloween from 09 00am until 05 00pm on election day the stadium will be open from 7 in the morning until 08 00pm and there will be free parking at the Great America parking lot. Its 5. 22 and coming up next on the kron 4 morning news, its win or go home tour oakland today, they have one more chance. Stay alive in the playoff do and lets take a live look at the mountain camera thats been showing us the flames and smoke from the glass fire ever since it started this morning and now you can just see it settled there you can see those hot spots where the flames are on the right of the screen will have more on the containment. Efforts and what its damage so far and destroyed in just a and were back 5. 25 is the time the oakland as have their backs up against the wall they have to win today in order to stay alive in the wildcard round of the playoffs, the as are taking on the Chicago White sox at the coliseum again today yesterday. White sox pitcher lucas julie doe was still most perfect on the mount garnet as offense was shut down. They didnt get a hit until the 7th inning and the as pitcher cases luzardo he allowed runs the white sox win that first game of the wild card 4 to one. Heres what as manager bob melvin has to say. Were gonna have to do more offensively. You know we can score one run in think that you know were going to win offense. We have to show up we have pretty good numbers off lefthanded pitching to our records get off lefty says well so over that plays out for us. Yeah hopefully will because the as have lost the wildcard around each of last 2 this year. Its not a onegame deal though so they have another shot today first pitch is at noon. And then if they win then theres a game 3 tomorrow at noon at the coliseum. Time now is 5. 26 were going to take a quick break, heres a live look again from one of our mountain cameras giving us a view from above looking down at the flames and the smoke in the valley below all from the glass fire will have continuing coverag facing leaks takes strength, so heres to the strong, who trust in our performance and comfortable, longlasting protection. Because your strength is supported by ours. Depend. The only thing stronger than us, is you. Right now, aarps work is more important than ever. We hear Older Americans loud and clear, and thats why we fight for what they and their families need. Access to healthcare, affordable prescription drugs, opportunities to save for the future, ending age discrimination. A healthy, financially secure, fulfilling life. Thats what aarp fights for because thats what everyone deserves. Join us in fighting for whats right. 29 right now and we are checking out the weather. Im always wondering when you say theres going to be like theres a heat warning if it includes me, im one of those french people james youre usually in at yeah, i think based a hearing times were part of it what would what are the parameters of this one coming up john so what we are going to be looking at is mostly just those inland areas, but yeah, a little closer to the coast, especially in marin county and sonoma counties we will still be seeing temperatures into the 90s in some cases, so yes. Theres definitely a couple of hot days ahead of us before the eventual cool down just around the corner. This morning were spade spared by some fog that is streamed in across the bay also helping to clean up air quality right along the coastline. Air quality is at its worst up in the north bay where that smoke is really settled into northern napa and the eastern portions of Sonoma County currently right now were in the 50s and 60s ahead of our toasty afternoon berkeley at 57 nevado and napa each at 55 san mateo and alameda as well as conquered and fairfield each right at 60 degrees. Later today. It will be 90s for san jose well oakland in the low 80s, San Francisco at 79 today. Robin all right, thank you lets check in on your morning commute over to the bay bridge toll plaza not much has changed its really still a great trip into San Francisco. So well start off with 80 leading up to the toll plaza which remains nights and smooth and hot spot free were looking at 10 minutes and thats a great average off to fremont street. Were also checking the richmond sandra fell west 5. 80 picking up, but not bad 7 minutes to the north bay notice, some crowding out of the south bay for those of you who take one oh one north a little busy between 6 8880 not bad at all under 30 minutes for the drive and a foggy golden gate here but still 90 minutes rolling south nevado to San Francisco daria back to you thanks a lot robin lets get back to the breaking news this morning which is the fires in sonoma and napa counties and the devastation as they continue to burn out of control and you can see the cars and trucks and homes that have just been destroyed in their left smoldering and then you see look. Wine country theres a few wine barrels there that are still left fire werent complex of fires has destroyed 46,000 acres plus its only 2 contain and there are still many many structures threatened 22,000 structures could be in harms way thats why so many people are still evacuated this morning this fire so far fires have destroyed 80 homes in napa and sonoma counties. And heres a map showing exactly how widespread the fire is within those 2 counties evacuation orders are changing with the course of the wind of course and some 70,000 residents across both counties still cant return home this morning santa rosa isnt much of a concern at the moment thankfully because the wind has changed directions is now blowing away from the city in Sonoma County people who live in northeast. Bennett valley oakmont stone bridge can would down to a valley of the moon just above glen allen cannot return home that red mandatory zone falls between west of fire road and across to sky hawk and pitt, the end and then in napa county weve got another map here to show you and this indicates mandatory evacuation zones in blue. So that is where people have to be out right now some of the new evacuation orders have also been brought up as well for state route, 29 and highway one 28 foothill boulevard to the county line between Diamond Mountain and Petrified Forest road. That includes angwin in and around Robert Louis Stevenson state park down to the southern of Lake Hennessey and then south and west of highway one 28 as well as north calistoga by the fairgrounds right up to Greenwood Avenue section to the south is now been downgraded to just a warning area, north the Petrified Forest road its shown there in yellow. Theres also a warning for the Chalk Mountain area as well. Lets go to our Team Coverage of the fires and then in napa county lets take a look at the map first this is where will tran is right now downtown calistoga which as we said has been totally evacuated. Will what is going on there this morning. Or you can clearly see behind me it is a ghost town, the only people coming in going our media and Police Officers i had 2 Police Officers show up back to back they didnt talk to each other said they didnt know what was going on, but they thought i was a civilian they came up to me ask me what i was doing here, i said i was the media so they moved on. They are cracking down on this location james area we were here 2 days ago, and we did see civilians coming in going this time it looks like they have a firm grip of whats going on because you can call leora lee c there is no one behind me calistoga has been evacuated, not only has the fire on this get right to the video, not only has the fire. Wiped out this area as far as the acreage 24 hours ago we were sitting at 36,000 acres. Now were sitting at 46,000 acres and more than likely that is going to go up as cal fire should have another briefing in about 90 minutes from now as far as the structures threaten 8500 stock structures threatened at this time yesterday. Now you guys are talking about 22,000 acres, it is burning through areas that have never been touched by fires before they are merging into one another. This all started on sunday at 4 oclock in the morning, small fire about 20 acres and then it just exploded because its so dry the conditions were perfect for the fire to chew up. This particular area so far as far as the fire here fortunately, we are not hearing of any major injuries or any fatalities, but that could possibly change as far as the evacuation orders, mandatory evacuations for many parts of the area course, including calistoga but it is very fluid that many people have been told if you get the knock at the door you will have to leave. So far james and ari i have not seen firefighters from out of state, but that could be a possibility there are many Fire Departments that are local to the bay area helping out but as far as out of state, not just yet. Again you can clearly see calistoga not only is it wiped out as far as homes and wineries its also wiped out a lot of businesses many people already suffering from covid19 and losing money that way. It was in money once again back to you. All right, thanks. Well as continue our Team Coverage now of the glass fire this morning as we turn our attention to Sonoma County take a look at the map that shows where kron fours reyna harvey is and then they skyhawk neighborhood of santa rosa on brigadoon way near great. Karen drive, several homes were damaged by fire and destroyed there. Lets go out this morning and get a look at whats going on right now. And then its to truly devastating to see the homes here in the series part about it is not every home is gone, it was pretty sporadic. The damage that was done here in this neighborhood that you can see the clearly the firefighters are still here on scene theyve been working around the clock and their goal right now to put out all those hot spots that may pop up to continuously try to save whats left of this neighborhood now were also going to show you other areas out here in santa rosa. They have also been damaged by the fire this oak lawn neighborhood you can see this community completely level to the ground you see these homes. One study here and you were few days ago families are probably just you know having brought his here the gathering having family events and occasions and celebrating and now were going to be returning to these neighborhoods. I was nothing left so again in this sofa neighborhood once currently were not in oakland. One currently standing on brigadoon way i mean if you you can even see the damage that was done here. His target is it is that as soon as it gets lighter. Were going to show you the houses that were leveled here in the area and they said, lets look at some of the firefighters that some of the residents have been trickling back into certain parts all the neighborhood so maybe well get a chance to talk to those families as the morning goes on but for now. Well the devastation in this neighborhood. Its far spread. Its white also the air get a chance to check that. Its it well over a 100. So again the air quality is awful in this area you can steal absolutely smail the lingering smoke from the fire thats not too far off so well be in this area. For now send it back you both in the studio. All right. Thank you very much rain up and stick around all morning. Long well check back with rather live reporters in the field and give you the very latest on the wildfires. You can also go to kron 4 dot com and use our mobile app kron on. Still ahead here on the kron 00 04am morning news, a county in the east bay moves closer to reopening more businesses and schools indoors, well have details on that coming up. Its 5. 41 in the east bay businesses including movie theaters. Gyms and restaurants are soon going to be able to have customers inside in Contra Costa County theyre moving on into another tier, the red tier and if they stay in that for 2 more weeks and schools will be able to reopen to for in person classes. Welcome back, it is 5. 46 right now checking out the weather still cool in my neck of the woods were actually james actual net bad waking up this morning. Yeah weve got john stand by i know some places are going to get pretty warm though at some point john yapp today and tomorrow are going to still be pretty warm days ahead of us were heavily not out of the woods as far as the heat goes yet looking at fog this morning that has spared us some of that heat pushing through yesterday, helping to result in a nice little cool down what weve also seen as relaxing of the hot and dry offshore winds that really fueled the flames of the glass fire in the north bay earlier this week we are seeing calm conditions around the isnt some Cool Temperatures this morning too. With relatively calm winds a lot of the smoke is just settling into portions of sonoma and napa counties this morning. Well closer to the coast. Some of your better air quality in to the east bay, not so good with poor conditions for much of contra costa eastern alameda counties this morning winds will remain relatively light for the most of your day to push of winds into the evening tonight will make for another foggy start to the day tomorrow after that fog burns off tomorrow is when temperatures will start to get really hot. Today we have a few triple digits on the map tomorrow, were likely to have a few more and thats enough for heat advisories to go into effect for portions of the north bay. The inland east bay and even spots on the peninsula right along the bay temperatures will be running 10 to 15 degrees above average for this time of year. So that means daytime highs hotter than were used to and that is saying something because we all know it does get hot in the fall here in the bay area. 60s and 70s for your highs in San Francisco today while 60s and 70s right down the coast as well, happen bay at 78 pretty warm right there at the coastline. Well 80s for most of our bayside areas seeing 89 palo alto 84 today. Well temperatures in the south bay in the upper 80s to low 90s lot like yesterday was 80s 90s for the east bay to some of our hottest of temperatures in danville and walnut creek at 99, th Oakland Berkeley and richmond youre Still Holding on to those 80s as for fairfield and vacaville or 2 spots in the triple digits and im expecting a few more cities to be joining you in the triple digits tomorrow as those heat advisories, take effect after that is when the cooldown really takes hold will be back into the 80s for inland areas by saturday and sunday with 70s for bayside areas on those same days. Robin.
