Cal fire says its now about 20 contained and evacuations are still in place this morning. And the fire has destroyed 2 buildings and one person was hurt kron fours dan thorn has more. Flames chewing through thousands of acres as firefighters battled the crews fire. The dry brush crackling for a second day as the wildfire threatened homes and forced evacuations along kenyada road for this man thankfully his rural ranch home was spared. I was relieved, i was i was only able to make it up last night and i was able to tell couple the neighbors that there are places where intact. You can see behind me and also thankfully burn quite a few houses in north circular is. And headed out into the wilderness area thats bounded by interstate 80 on this side. Coming skyway to the north and highway 4 to the south and to the east. Well thank goodness, no one was injured and no homes were threatened firefighters will continue to monitor the area for hot spots. And no official word on the cause, but firefighters believe that a burning cigarette might have started this fire. Well staying in the east bay, theres also a fire near thats 50 contained now the Fremont Police Department Shared these photos of the fire that burned 150 acres so that fire is burning near 5. 80 and Patterson Pass road. And in the north bay firefighters have contained the Mountain Meadows fire it started yesterday afternoon near Mountain Meadows drive, it burned 5050 acres 30 homes were evacuated though so far no reports of any didnt damage or injuries. And the cause of the fire is unknown. And earlier on monday. Visit morgan hills live daraa grilled telling them that Outdoor Dining was not approved by the state because Santa Clara County have not submitted a request for a variance the countys Public Health Information Officer said that it understood that no request was necessary. The way people have interpreted state owner says that something is in the day when it is expressly prohibited that when the state is silent that is left to the jurisdiction to decide how to proceed. Well Santa Clara County Officials Say that it still has one of the lowest infection rates per 1000 residents in the bay area and the state and that has the county hopeful that its request to further expand reopening might be approved. There are over 28,000 cases and over 600 deaths from covid19 in the bay area were seeing the most cases in Alameda County with over 6 6800 and factions. This is a Tropical Storm cristina but it is projected to become a hurricane pretty quickly that follow its track and this is through the week ahead already becoming one probably by later today. Category 2 it intensifies to and then starts to drop down a category one of the good news is its going to parallel the coast. So its not threatening land at all, but it can pose a problem for shipping by this weekend, its still around as the hurricanes will we continue to monitor the little bit as we progress this week ahead want to jump all the way out so wednesday to see some of that morning fog that we get yeah well get somewhere in monterey bay, but not so much on the San Francisco bay area and by this point really start to see the High Pressure build in time for the weekend pushing those temperatures higher still heres a look at the future cast wind gusts started things off this morning. We start pushing into the 90s well get to the middle 90s probably far inland by weeks end and by the weekend itself we may be the grazing your 100 or so for some of those far east bay locations as we turn hot in spots. And meanwhile, maybe even some lower 90s along the east bay shoreline 69 San Francisco. Detectives say 6 yearold jace young was hit by a stray bullet as he watched fireworks with his family and friends in the Bayview Police chief bill scott called the killing an acceptable and now is asking anyone with any information to come forward. We we know where. We believe the gunshots came from in that piece is being examined heavily were going to do everything we can to bring this case to a solution or this child and for his family. Over to the east bay this morning Walnut Creek Police are looking for a man they want in connection with an attempted him a homicide. Shooting happened last night near the intersection of homestead avenue and ignacio valley road. The Victim Told Police that he was stopped in his car when a man walked toward him with a handgun and fired several shots. The victim is in stable condition this morning at the Hospital Police are looking for a man around 25 years old about 5 foot 5. They say hadash had short hair and a mustache. Theyre saying that any information that you have police call Walnut Creek Police. Well happening now firefighters in the south bay still working really hard this morning to get the upper hand on the crews fire. Thats burning mill near gilroy that fire has more than tripled in size in just the last 24 hours. We want to go live now to kron fours will tran hes in gilroy this morning. He has the latest on the firefight will. Its tripled in size unfortunately, the containment percentage did not triple. Its still on the hillside right now along the ridge and thats the good news, its talked back there which is why you dont see the flames but you might be able to see the smoke along the ridge lane it is slowly and steadily, however moving along. Yesterday i was along kenyada road which by the way is still closed this morning because of evacuations, its about 3 miles from my location that moved here to prove dale avenue which is in danger of obviously being on fire as well and evacuations along here. Let me show you some video marty so yesterday i was here it was only 15 contained at that time right now its 20 contained. Its around 5400 acres burned yesterday it was at 1500 acres, so its more than tripled in size it continues to move along. But the good news is still no fatalities, no injuries that we do know that 2 structures have been destroyed but those structures were not houses the difficulty with the fire because its such a dry area it whips around and gusty conditions every now and then but more importantly mardi in robin. The fact is isnt such a rugged area that they cant drive their rigs there to plug into fire hydrants so they have crews on the ground with their picks and shovels to clear a lot of the dry debris. But they are using air tackett mostly and those air tankers should be back up in the air in about 90 minutes or so maybe a little bit later once the sun comes up, but the fear factor is this they want to make sure that the fire stays along the ridge line along the hills of gil right because this is their fear. This is one 52 marty one 52 is such a major thoroughfare that they keep a close eye on if they dont want any damage to this road or its skipping over here and moving southbound. Towards hollister or other parts of gilroy so far so good you can see how busy one 52 is. As long as the fight is on the hillside, theyll take it. We should get an update in about 2 hours from now as far as the numbers, but again it did triple in size unfortunately, the containment percentage did not report just instill long now only at 20 could take several more days to get containment.
