Road under mandatory evacuations that this is a fast moving fire. There are Evacuation Centers that have been set up for those wildfire victims have been evacuated with winds are high sehool located at 8695 windsor road. And Healdsburg Community Center Located at 1557 healdsburg road as well those that are zones are being told to go there and that is where theyll find the services they need to whether this wind and fire storm right now this ravaging the north bay. And we have kron 4 Sarah Stinson live out there right now sara whats the latest from where you are. Here in geyser ville you can see im wearing this mask and as because theres so much smoke. To turn off the lights we can zoom into the ridge. Were here live. And you can see into the distance up on the ridge that is where this fire is burning this. 1000 acres this is burned significantly just in the last hour. It jumped from 7,000 acres to 10,000 acres. We do know that this fire started last night at 9. 10 and theyre calling this the can kade fire. Right now its a 7th out or it was 7,000 acres jumped, its still at 0 contained. Firefighters say the wind is the biggest problem and we felt it while driving on one oh one. The truck moving were trying to do is you got to keep both hands on the wheel that a strong the wind is so someone on twitter described the wind is sounding like a rainstorm because the trees are moving the the leaves are shaking and the windowsp some of these gusts are up in the 60 mile per hour range. That we saw we had to drive past. The police we saw. And that they have to make. Pass river. Casino. And we just mentioned some of those orders a repeat them. The Evacuation Orders have been for read a winery road. All of the Alexander Mountain road. Highway one 28 from geysers road to you should evacuate. But those are for sure those mandatory evacuations where they want people to be safe. As weve said theres 2 Evacuation Centers. We actually have a reporter heading there. Winds are highway high School Windsor high school and Healdsburg Community centers so right now their main focus is making sure people evacuate, they say safe. With these wind gusts as i said you can see. How intense it is because of that ash thats in the sky. Going like crazy. All over geyser ville and its very area here its pitch black and you can see that glove and the sky right now is this is a live look of it so you can see its just completely blowing in the sky o just looks like a haziness and that is where firefighters are headed right now to try and contain this fire because it is still 0 contained starting last night at 9 oclock just growing growing growing because of were actually in the drive up closer about 4 miles up the road pass casino t this but here right now is where standing near a high school you can see it in 10, flame disrupted. Thus far basically just exploded. And youre seeing that smoke right there. Also even if youve evacuated, make sure you get those match sell because. And you can feel it you can series of basically inhaling and ash but you can see that his right there a glowing red and orange smoke. Were going to head. Plus updated information since this fire is growing. Live in guys are real Sarah Stinson. Thank you very much there and stay safe well check back in with you little bit. Well this morning. Were also hearing from the Sonoma County Sheriffs Office says matter of fact on the line with us right now is misty would shes from the Sheriffs Department there. On the phone misty thank you so much for joining us. This morning. We know you have your hands full against the fire broke out around 9 30 last night you guys have been doing Evacuation Orders. Whats the latest what people need to know to stay safe. If theyre under Evacuation Order they need to leave and not go back and about evacuation he most important thing right now. And people are headed to italy for one reason or another this is no joke. This is serious wildfire. So please do leave if youre under Evacuation Order. If youre under an evacuation warning area we want people to be rdy that is people need help with 3 fourths a door had questions were asking everyone to call 1, 1, and only call 911 in the event of a life threatening emergency. And what exactly is your role during the evacuation process can you walk us through what thats like for residents who were forced to evacuate right now. And the Sheriffs Office has the Legal Authority to require evacuation. When we issued Evacuation Orders are deputies are out near the fire they started close to the fire possible and move away from there. Knocking on doors and going to every single resident and business. If theres a business to get people out of there. In addition to doing those door to door evacuation. The Sheriffs Office issued 2 different next full alert. And that our partners at the department of Emergency Management in the county. Also issued whats called the soco alert and a wireless Emergency Alert and we try to get everybody and many ways as possible. Evacuated so far in those of are potentially impacted by this evacuation warning. We have about 276 people who in that mandatory evacuation down at about 1700 people who are in not warning area. Ok and when would you know if those folks in the warning area might also get a mandatory Evacuation Order as well as the fire moving in their direction. Who right now the fire is generally heading west to and having on the minute. So you know its really hard to say we want to make we want to make sure that people who are in that warning area are being alert. They have their phones with them. Theyre paying attention and ready to evacuate. But its hard to you know when that order would be left a when the warning would be lifted or what it would be changed to order really depends the fires movement at this point. And at this point you think the majority of us moving away from the most densely Populated Areas that youre concerned about. Thats what it appears right now have i get a part and that conditions change but at the moment, moving kind of lacked in northwest. But doesnt seem you know doesnt to be directly in the line of a lot of populated area right now but were just seeing that the list okay. And were you there for the big fires. We had a couple years ago. Yes, sir i what can you compare up because that was also very intense wind driven storm. Can you compare for us what its like this morning are the winds as strong do you feel or whats your sense. 90 seconds this is left significant that fired a years ago. Ago you could feel like you could. Well it. It was hard to keep it and it moves quickly that people really didnt have time to figure out what was going on. This is smaller so far our and although it a quick moving not nearly as fast as the tubbs fire was people quicker. That was going to be my next question what is the difference between the nua learning tools and what you guys are doing differently. I of course youve gone through some extensive training based on you tragedies like this that weve seen in the past so can you talk a little a little bit about the new techniques that you guys are using. Emergency management is in charge of lee alert warning them. So the Sheriffs Office. The court though the effort because it really is team effort to keep everybody safe during an evacuation. Though since the 2017 fires. We have the ability now to send out wireless Emergency Alert which come through on your cell at phone. And we have more staff train on excellent how to properly use next all. In addition, weve added highlow fire and you are patrol cars and those are the day to tell i went here in the u k and we only in an event like this where you need to evacuate immediately. And those 2 toes irons were tools you implemented this morning, correct. I lived the optimal time i have a for certain, but thats difficult chore that they would be using out of the old. Ok very good misty thank you so much for joining us this morning and keeping abreast of the situation out there great chatting with you hopefully we can connect with you again. During the broadcast one a little bit later on to get another update thats all right. Llight misty thank you so much and youre talking of the comfort of trashing the wind yes and what it was like lets find out what the winds are doing this morning weve got john following that part of this whole story from the Weather Center and john what we see and gust was you said it was pretty strong very strong at what ive been looking at a path there is definitely some high winds in the vicinity of this fire now there are surrounding communities such as guys erbil where sarah is that right now assay is just to the north. These communities asked the north the cloverdale gusting regularly as high as 38 Miles Per Hour now peak us in those hills around the peaking at around 60 Miles Per Hour and thats where you have this fire spreading so rapidly we had reports of being around 7,000 acres in that 10,000 acre update to coming in earlier this morning. Thats just how rapidly this fire is moving now is misty said compared to the tubbs fire just a couple years back. They are seeing growth that substantial which is certainly good news but with winds as erratic as they are this morning and as strong as they rapidly and its not just up around weather severe ss fire danger in some of the deepest of reds actually do exist around this fire vicinity this morning between cloverdale in santa rosa, you see some of those dark red hues low humidity, the warm temperatures which are already in the 60s and 70s around the blaze. This morning and then of course the very very strong winds that were talking about too not to mention that there are also other areas of the north bay that are experiencing these deep red such as just east of napa and youngsville this morning and we are going to be looking at that tapering off into the latter part of the afternoon this is a good sign winds will calm down on into the finish of the day today but as for much of the morning and even early afternoon ahead of us we are going to still be seeing substantial winds and very low humidity and another look at those peak winds right now Calistoga Santa Rosa petaluma between these areas there is a lot of variation but that tells you that even the winds may be calm and every at one point to the next. They will be picking up at other points throughout the day this is at 10 00am right here still some pretty substantial winds up in the north bay winds do eventually calm down this is at 03 00pm now midafternoon and look at this finally seeing some relief winds calming down briefly because theyre actually going to be picking up later on into the weekend ahead of us so we get a brief some breathing room after these wind gusts this morning then we are eventually going to see winds picking back up so warm and windy to start warming up quickly and then a hot and still windy early afternoon. Although good news as winds will be a starting to ease up on into the middle of the afternoon into the evening tonight back to you guys all right, thank you john that want to get a look at your. Morning commute and see how its moving out there checking in on the bay bridge 80 west, its looking good. So far no big problems to worry about here leaving oakland working way across the span to downtown so if you go and leave now your drive times a quick 7 minutes right on time off to reet. Heres 92 and its already getting a little crowded, but no problems so far working your way out of hayward over to the peninsula. 17 minutes and growing to make it off to one oh one. Rmally we have bridge work bit north bay merging on to the span but for now it is not southbound as you leave the impacting traffic 19 minutes novato check some more numbers and freeways coming up in just a bit. Again that pg outage map this was that map that we shared with you earlier showing all the different outages in the area as we zoom in to the north bay youll see that the majority of the outages in the bay area do impact a lot of wine country and then look at that along one o one right there and guys are filled. We do have a large area. Our lunch section of that area without power now the question is did this fire thats burning right there. At the moment spark inside or outside of the pg e power shut off zone thats going to one of the questions that investigators are going to be looking into as they analyze the origins of this fire. What e ville were ough is that within the pga power shut off zone and all those purple polygon that you see are represent regions around the area that are without power right now intentionally because it was shut off by pg so well have to wait and see again as investor years get a better look at the origin of this wildfire burning right now. Whether this was within or outside of the pg e power shut off zone. Well take a quick break a just to get to watch more coverage of the fire exploded over night from 9 30 last night when it first started to this morning. It again is burning youre geyser field mandatory Evacuation Orders in place right now impacting would last check 276 president s with more than 1700 people within an 3vacuation warnings also not mandatory for them yet but theyre being told to stand by and be ready to go at a moments notice and here we have more details map showing you where the fire is burning which is that area outlined in blue and all of the areas where pg e has intentionally shut off power which are all those red polygon you see surrounding that entire 1, 1, corridor from santa rosa north to the county line. Those 2 dots in green, those are your Evacuation Centers this morning and they are winds are high school and the Healdsburg Community center and that orange dot that you see at the lower section of the screen that is where people are being told to bring their large animals if theyre in an evacuation zone facilities have been set up there to build a care for those animals and the video shows us this morning. Exactly what people are dealing with in the dark of night as theyre trying to evacuate a lot of these Rural Communities that are nestled in the hills there of a northern Sonoma County and from the air. You can see just how widespread fire is right now as we said 10,000 acres in size absolutely just cant even imagine waking up smelling the smoke seen the flames like that. You know as we take a look at this video we can see just how how intense and is and once again we just want to go over some of the mandatory Evacuation Orders. Are in place, the red cross on scene and there leading people over to the winds are high school. Thats at 8695 windsor road, the hills berg Community Center of the red cross has set up there as well and then once again for and people with animals large animals you can take those animals to the Sonoma County fairgrounds thats at 1350. Bennett valley road in santa rosa. Including the River Rock Casino under mandatory evacuations and anyone who lives off of river road has been forced to evacuate as well. Right again were going continue to follow the very latest with this we have to take a brief break take a look at the image on your screen. This is a video from one of the higher peaks looking aut you can see the glow the fires and the smoke and just how quickly that smoke is blowing across the screen. Again this is one of the big issues that everybody was worried about fires spark you know these high winds that were seeing with gusts 3040 5060 Miles Per Hour. The higher up you go could carry those embers far forward continue burning miles in some cases ahead of the main fire and thats the situation were seeing this morning as this fire has grown from 0 to 10,000 acres since 9 30 last night. Well be back more coverage just a minute. And were back our breaking news this morning in case youre just waking up we have a fire storm in the north bay once again with a fast moving fire in Sonoma County. Kron 4 Sarah Stinson is up there will be visiting with her in our next segment so stay tuned for that live report. But we have to tell you there are mandatory Evacuation Orders. Place right now 276 residents currently being told to leave their homes and this is a map of the pga outages in the area again youll be familiar with this map. We showed it to the last time pga had that intentional power shut off as we zoom into the guys are ville area near healdsburg youll see that it is covered in those purple polygon all those areas. Power intentionally shut off by pg now we dont know what the cause of this fire burning right now. But the question will be did it start within or outside of the pg power shut off area thats something investigators are going to be looking into. But at this point we have about 276 people evacuated, 1700 more though inside evacuation warning zones, which means the a Sonoma County Sheriffs Department has gone through that area warned people they need to get their things together and be ready to go should it become necessary you can see from the aerial shots here just how not only widespread the fire is but you can kind of make out how to how rugged the terrain is to is follow the fire line is it sort of just. Zigzags back and forth creating that jagged line of fire and that kind of gives you an idea the kind of terrain thats burning right now and of course this answers a question for a lot of people they kept saying why its pg shutting off the power are we dont feel like this is a you know something that they need to do this is exactly what they were trying to avoid 24 ho john has been tracking the winds and even when i woke up this morning went outside i can feel how warm just here in the immediate Area Temperatures are already in the 70s. This morning, waking up so the warm temperatures combined with the gusty wind. That is why we still have that red flag warning in place for you this morning and dont forget these of those diablo winds so its not like the cool ocean breeze that comes in this is blowing from the inland valleys out to the ocean bringing all that. Hot bally air right across the peaks here in Sonoma County will be back with more fire coverage in just a minute stay with us. You can certainly hear the wind in that video as we look at these hills aglow with flames and smoke in Sonoma County. Right up along the lake county line there guys or fail amassed a w has grown to 10,000 acres in size because of that wind that you see there on the screen. The camera shaking around this is time lapse video of the fire actually have more video that we showed here from one of the peaks as it looks out over the glowing hills and look at all that smoke blowing from left to right across your screen. This is a piece of video tweeted out by the strate morning conditions that widespread fires. Should one of their lines sparked a fire and thats why the institute that planned power shut off. And you can see here despite that we have this fire raging this morning in this map really illustrates what the situation is the area outlined in blue, that is the current fire burn area and look at it surrounded on all sides by all that red all those republicans those are the areas that pg shut off power so this fire broke out right in the middle of where all of all that all the neighborhoods have been turned off for the power had been turned off. But for whatever reason that didnt seem to stop this particular fire are still waiting for word on the cause and the
