Steve kerr has been active when it comes to politics and social justice. Its become personal for him. He spoke with our very own raj mathai why this years election is so important. These last six, seven months have been rough in so many ways. You know, from Worldwide Health standpoint to the social justice activity in the country, the Political Division that exists. What if theres pushback or some angst about, you know what, there are so many white coaches in the nba for a league thats dominated by blacks, whats your response and how do we get around it . We have to acknowledge were behind in terms of equal opportunity for black coaches. And there are many reasons for that. Most of which are sort of builtin to the world and the country that we live in. And the equal opportunity that is not there, you have to examine why that s the case, wy the opportunity is there for me and other white coaches and might not be there for minority coaches. Youve been championing social justice causes, not for months, but for years. But now so many people are kind of jumping on board. Is that frustrating for you or encouraging to you . Im cautiously optimistic. Knowing our countrys history, weve had a few moments like this in the past, but we havent been able to breakthrough. And i think the breakthrough has to come through the ballot box. People have to get out and vote for the change they want to see. And i think whats happening right now is the country is changing, demographics are changing, generational change is happening. And there is a real desire for change from a lot of the people that are now representing the majority, you know. Weve got to make our voices heard, but weve got to maintain hope regardless. On that note were going to turn it over to rob maeda to talk about some positive, very positive weather news. Yeah, trying everything we can to improve the odds of rainfall, including almost rainfalllike screen safer over my shoulder here. We have the climatological guide. This is not one of the bigger months for rainfall, but sometimes we do occasionally get some rain in october. Not as big as wintertime rainfall months, but there is an opportunity towards the end of the sevenday forecast, maybe we can kick start that rain season. Lets show you whats going on now. Air quality did improve for the end of the weekend. Were going to see that carry over into your monday forecast. Except in the north bay. These are the locations that well see locally unhealthy air, especially areas calistoga and yountville. Good to moderate in the bay area tomorrow and similar condition expected for tuesday. San jose today was in the mid80s. Were going to see similar conditions tomorrow. 66 degrees now, clear skies. Still in the mid 60s for dublin. And San Francisco showing you the glowing fog off to the west of downtown. 55 degrees. And more of those low clouds as we head towards the morning. Notice locally across the inner bay in the morning, off the coast exception to the rule, should be closer to santa cruz, more sunshine at times. Tomorrow likely to be the warmest day for the next five to six days. Notice temperatures at 9 00, 50s and 60s. Lunchtime kind of like we had today, 70s and 80s inland. A few areas will reach the 90s. Morgan hill, concord, fairfield. Notice livermore 90 was 98 degrees today. These numbers are starting to come down over the next couple of days. Interesting to point out, the first of our two weather systems coming our way have a bit of a tropical connection. A weakening tropical storm, remnant moisture from it will start to move to the north. Merging with this system that will approach the coast by late thursday and friday. So this will be our first opportunity to see showers arriving perhaps by thursday night on into friday followed by a second more powerful storm, though i think that one is likely to bypass us and mainly hit the pacific northwest. So late thursday night, friday into saturday. Theres your rain chances. And by sunday the next storm kind of gets blocked there by High Pressure building in as we head towards next sunday. Sevenday outlook trends cooler as we go through the week. The west, southwest wind as the storm approaches. It will be good for our air quality. And we hope bringing rain in the mountain areas especially to our north as the rain potential increases late thursday, should take us into the beginning of the weekend, clearing and breezy by sunday. So for all of us, the wildfires have really got kick started by the lightning strikes that began in mid august. Finally turning at least briefly the corner to better air quality and some real rain chances coming up towards the end of the its been six long months, but today the San Francisco museum of modern art finally reopened its doors to the public.
