Local authorities tell us this morning they are ready to respond to the federal governments decision to dock this ship right here at the port of oakland. The ship has been sitting off the coast for several days while the cdc tested those onboard, about 2 dozen people onboard, mostly crew members, tested positive. They will stay onboard and move on to a different location. The other 2,000 plus passengers who did not test positive will be transported to different location locations foreign travelers will be transported to Oakland International airport and mayor libby schaaf and Governor Newsom say theyve been advised by the federal government passengers will only be on the tarmac, never in public space at the airport. The Vice President himself individually working. We had three conversations in the last 24 hours directly. Reporter the passengers who need medical help will come off first and a couple passengers who tested positive will be quarantined and treated at local hospitals. At least ten people are dead and another 23 missing. This is after a sudden collapse of a hotel being used in chinas coronavirus fight. That hotel had been housing patients from the epidemics hardest hit areas, all had tested negative but were still under quarantine. The cause of the collapse is under investigation. And more grim news out of italy where the number of coronavirus deaths spiked yesterday along with the number of cases. Doctors reported 133 deaths bringing italys total to 366. The government responded with drastic measures, onequarter of the entire country is under quarantine. Lots of cities in northern and central italy are on lockdown through at least april 3rd. And new Court Documents show juul labs contributed to campaigns of several state attorneys general. Juul met with Georgia Attorney general chris carr to discuss its pledge to end vaping in teens. San jose is mourning the death of former mayor susan hammer. Hammer was the 62nd marp of san jose and served two terms from 1991 to 1998. She helped to create project diversify, the conservation corps, and the mayors gang task force. The hammer theater also is named after her. Susan hammer died over the weekend at her home.
