[ laughter ] now i know what youre probably all thinking its day three of the hearings your favorite president must be melting down by now. But it couldnt be further from the truth. In fact, just this week, i was rushed to the hospital for my standard physical. [ laughter ] everyone said i was a perfect patient. I even got a lollipop. [ laughter ] you always get the lolly roy cohn told me that. [ light laughter ] as always, im joined by my attorney general bill barr at the bill barr bar bar. [ laughter ] great to be here, mr. President and on behalf of your staff this week [ light laughter ] thank you fantastic, thats fantastic. Its very good now, lets dive in time for the big news about the impeachment of your president. [ laughter ] at first, i was nervous about todays hearings, but vindmans testimony made it clear that i was totally innocent take a look. I was concerned by the call it was improper for the president of the United States to demand a Foreign Government investigate a u. S. Citizen jimmy yeah, you hear that . He said, he said, what i did was improper improper and he says it right there, folks, im proper. [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause but unfortunately it didnt stop there, because Intelligence Committee bad boy Devin Nunes Devin Nunes made a little misstep like i just did. [ light laughter ] and it happens, folks. People make mistakes [ light laughter ] but this was a very bad one. He called the witness by the wrong name take a look. Mr. Vindman, you testified in your deposition that you did not know the whistleblower remember, its Lieutenant Colonel vindman, please. I jimmy wow. Thats pretty embarrassing it says his name right there lit cold vegemite. [ laughter ] luckily, nunes came back, and i think he summed up the day pretty nicely. Isnt it strange that weve morphed into the impeachment committee. Presiding over a matter that has no intelligent component whatsoever jimmy you hear that . So, from now on when you think of trump, i want to you think no intelligence component. [ laughter ] and with that were out of time so lets check in on tonights drinking game. Steve oh [ laughter ] jimmy well, today was day three of the impeachment hearings, which means it was also the third day of americans turning on the tv to watch ellen and then screaming, you got to be kidding me. Come on. [ light laughter ] thats right, it was day three of the impeachment hearings and it was once again on every channel. On the bright side, after three days, the impeachment is already one of the longer running shows on Network Television [ laughter and applause three witnesses testified last week, four witnesses testified today and another five are scheduled for later this week. So good news, theyre just a a few more people away from an all witness version of guess who. [ laughter ] is your guy a decorated member of the army . [ light laughter ] yeah, it was a busy day today. Check out what i saw on cspan before things got started. Coming up on cspan at 9 00 a. M. , Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman and Jennifer Williams arrive to testify. At 9 05, adam schiff shouts, lets effing do this, and throws chalk into the air like lebron james [ laughter ] at 9 30, jim jordan tries to distract everyone by lighting his blazer on fire and finally, at 10 45, President Trump bursts into the hearing like the koolaid man and shouts, oh, no [ cheers and applause jimmy very interesting, right . Steve wow. Jimmy guys, four u. S. Officials testified during todays impeachment hearings but first, they had to swear under oath and i think they seem to be asked a few more questions than usual. Take a look. Do you swear that the testimony youre about to give is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth . I do. I do. Do you often text your friends almost there when you know youre still ten minutes away i do. I do. Do you think drake is the thingamajig on the masked singer i do. I do as well. [ laughter and applause jimmy that thing is cute af. Steve af man. Jf but the biggest name that testified today was Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman. At one point, vindman was asked if he remembered taking a photo of former National Security advisor john bolton with ukrainian officials outside the white house. This is the photo. Vindman was like, yes, that was taken the day john bolton auditioned to be the next kfc colonel. Steve oh [ laughter ] jimmy but things got a a little tense during the hearings when nunes incorrectly addressed Lieutenant Colonel vindman. He said mr. Vindman, you testified in your deposition that you did not know the whistleblower i want you to remember its Lieutenant Colonel vindman, please jimmy yeah [ light laughter ] then adam schiff was like, let the record show we just had a mic drop, yall. [ laughter ] luckily, during the testimony, there was a lighter moment who vindman joked that he speaks russian, ukrainian and a little bit of english then trump was like, omg, me too. [ laughter ] yeah, it was a very interesting day on capitol hill, which brings us to a new segment, impeachment hearings are better out of context. Watch. Do it do it hard do it dirty. Jimmy of course, the other big political story is that the Hashtag Hashtag fartgate was trending yesterday [ light laughter ] now actually, people thought representative Eric Swalwell may have passed gas on live tv take a look at this. The president used taxpayer dollars to ask the ukrainians to help him cheat [ farting in elections [ laughter ] jimmy i guess we finally know who the whistleblower is. [ laughter ] its pretty crazy but actually, to be honest, because it actually happens a lot on a a lot of shows you probably just havent noticed it steve really jimmy check it out [ farting [ laughter ] i understand your protest and concerns about our products, but i dont have time right now to [ farting talk to you about it [ light laughter ] oh, no, oh, no, oh, no. Yeah its going to be a bummer when people hear, sorry but your face has been declined. [ laughter ] heres some bittersweet news i saw that the u. S. Born panda bei bei is leaving its home in washington d. C. And heading to china. Yeah, its sad to see him go, but hell be in good hands and hell be reunited with his siblings you might be disappointed, but i think who can fill the void of bei bei here in the u. We love you, buddy welcome back thank you for coming back to our show thank you thank you, man thank you. Jimmy i want to say congrats, because i think the last time we talked was before Avengers Endgame came out and that went on to be the biggest movie in the whole wide world ever right right, right, right, right jimmy yeah, giant. And then, i was reading something about you and about, you know, black panther. And somewhere in the thing, it said that you auditioned for a a different superhero for marvel at first. I did, drax, yeah, yeah jimmy you auditioned for drax yeah, weirdly enough, yeah. Jimmy from guardians. From guardians. Jimmy let me just show everyone who this is [ laughter ] this is drax batista jimmy yeah, so you auditioned for that . I did i did. You know, its about going and playing. I didnt think i was going to get it and its weird too, because its a testament, i think, to marvel because after each film, you know, antman has a different tone and feeling and we didnt know what that was going to be. We didnt know what guardians was going to be. So i didnt know what it was and i only had, you know, a few pages at that time so it was just good to come in and play and see to see what they did with it. Jimmy and they remembered you from that. And they go, oh, we got to put him we have a role for him, but we dont want to tell him. Well, sometimes, thats the way it works as an actor you go in knowing youre not going to get it, but youre meeting the people that, you know, they might be like, hes not this, but well put him in this other thing. So i feel like that was one of the moments when they were like, hey, we could use him later. Jimmy and i know during the interview for sarah finn for casting director jimmy is that who did that yeah, yeah, yeah. Jimmy i love giving a shout out to casting director. Jimmy really worked well i love your interviews that you were doing during endgame, because you had to give interviews you were in the movie, but you didnt want to spoil anything. Right jimmy and you did something in your interviews that made me laugh. I think we showed it on the show once. But i want to show it to you while youre here. You have different scripts you have different scripts, you know, like different to throw people off jimmy wow. What are you going to do because youre filming black panther 2 now you have all this time you cant just tell everyone youre dead. You know what, i dont know what it is what its going to be this time, but ill come up with something. Yeah, i think it was a consolation. Youre dead, so let me bring you another movie. Jimmy yeah so and so, yeah, you know, they were like, we think youre perfect for this role. And then, i met brian kirk, the director i was like, were going to be a great collaborator. And we decided to produce it jimmy its a good movie. Its very i like the premise. Theres a lot of action. So basically, set it up for everybody. The idea is eight cops are killed im an nypd detective whos known for, you know, tracking down cop killers and so, i shut down the city of manhattan, like all of the entryways into it including the 21 bridges, so that we can trap the offenders and catch them jimmy theyre stuck on stuck on the island jimmy stuck on manhattan yeah. Jimmy yeah, you said 21 bridges i didnt know there was 21 bridges around manhattan. I didnt either actually, when we started, the script was called 17 bridges [ laughter ] you know were like they didnt build four bridges but, you know, im about to do a speech about 21 bridges. And i was like, about the 17 bridges and theyre like, you might have got it wrong we might have got it wrong. [ laughter ] jimmy right, yeah. We got to recount. Yeah, were going to rename the movie. If we cant figure it out, lets call the movie lockdown. [ laughter ] jimmy lets not even mention bridges. Like, we have to talk about bridges. I was like, figure this out for me. Jimmy the animation alone was crazy. Its beautiful. Jimmy what a great job you did working on it, but well talk about that. But i want to talk about westworld. Oh. Jimmy thats a totally different thats the opposite of frozen 2. Very much so, yes jimmy yeah yes jimmy you just finished season three, right . Season three, yeah. Jimmy you wrapped filming . Just just wrapped it, uhhuh jimmy it gets pretty intense doing those scenes how do you do you keep it light or how do you we try to, because it is very intense its a lot to take home with you after work jimmy yeah so James Marsden and i actually have a thing that we do, where in rehearsal, we read our lines as anchorman as Veronica Corningstone and ron burgundy [ laughter ] which works because teddy is always kind of just figuring things out, and so, hes always like, dolores, that doesnt make any sense. [ laughter ] jimmy yes. Ive never seen this man before in my life. [ laughter ] its our dream actually to do one take for every scene as a joke and film it, so that we can actually edit together an entire season as a comedy. [ laughter ] jimmy yeah like, because we always have these great ideas. And we never have time to do outtakes, so thats the dream. Jimmy so its going to be a whole blooper season exactly jimmy yeah i like what you do obviously on the big screen and hbo but also, what you do outside of acting. We talked about it a little bit last time. Yes jimmy you were you actually testified in front of congress uhhuh. Yes, i testified in front of congress for the Sexual Assault survivors bill of rights. [ cheers and applause jimmy wait, wait, wait theres more just wait, this is such a great story, and im so happy. There is more and that snowballed, and actually taught me that anybody can write their own law. Its our right to do that. But if you asked me a year ago and most people how a bill becomes a law, theyll say, well, i know the school of rock version. Jimmy oh, yes. Of course. How a bill becomes a law. Jimmy school of rock is the best so im a Domestic Abuse survivor and my [ applause ] i was not able to seek justice, because i fell through the cracks because of the statute of limitations so i created a bill called the phoenix act, which is set to extend the statute of limitations for Domestic Violence victims and i educated myself on all the laws and i assembled a small team, and we organized and we campaigned for about a year. And senator susan rubio brought the bill forward we passed through every committee unanimously. And it became law. Jimmy oh, my [ cheers and applause you wrote yes jimmy i love that you did that yes, and that is the first time the statute of limitations has been touched in the state of california. Jimmy wow. And we managed to move the needle we extended it jimmy that is amazing. Yeah. [ applause ] jimmy that is so cool to hear yeah. Jimmy i was so happy to hear that. And were not done. We want to try to bring it to all 50 states. So, you know, were just getting started. And so its kind of like a guy whos inside his own head, you know hes kind of, whatever introspective, introverted, that kind of thing and then it kind of follows this guy as he kind of gets to know other people, gets more comfortable and eventually engages with the wider world jimmy and how are the audiences . How have they been theyve been great. They dance and sometimes they cry. Jimmy they do . I hope theyre crying because theyre jimmy moved. Yes, moved.
