Ionia corn grower earns state honors in yield contest

ST. LOUIS — An Ionia corn grower earned state honors in the 2020 National Corn Yield Contest.
J.P. Clover, of Ionia, placed third in Michigan in the H:Strip-Till, Minimum-Till, Mulch-Till, Ridge-Till Irrigated Class with a yield of 284.9052 bushels per acre, according to a press release from the National Corn Growers Association. The hybrid used in the winning field was DEKALB DKC54‐64RIB.
The National Corn Yield Contest is sponsored annually by the National Corn Growers Association. Every participant in the contest “contributes to the body of agronomic research,” according to the release.
