Hyper Energy Bar planned for Waukee

The Waukee City Council this week approved a site plan for a Hyper Energy Bar at 1025 S.E. Laurel St. The beverage retailer will sell coffee and energy drinks, providing only drive-thru or walk-up service. The drive-thru service will be provided on both the north and south sides of the 512-square-foot building, which is known as a California-style drive-thru, according to material provided to the council. The beverage shop will be constructed on a portion of land purchased in October by Waukee Towne Center LLC, managed by Michael Pierson of Burlington. Heart of America Group, a hospitality and real estate development company that operates numerous hotels and restaurants in the Midwest, was listed as the applicant for Hyper Energy Bar. Michael Whalen is the group’s president and CEO.
