The Waukee City Council this week approved a site plan for a Hyper Energy Bar at 1025 S.E. Laurel St. The beverage retailer will sell coffee and energy drinks, providing only drive-thru or walk-up service. The drive-thru service will be provided on both the north and south sides of the 512-square-foot building, which is known as a California-style drive-thru, according to material provided to the council. The beverage shop will be constructed on a portion of land purchased in October by Waukee Towne Center LLC, managed by Michael Pierson of Burlington. Heart of America Group, a hospitality and real estate development company that operates numerous hotels and restaurants in the Midwest, was listed as the applicant for Hyper Energy Bar.
