reporter: the accident happened around 2:30 this morning on fremont boulevard. friends of the victim came by and left candles and flowers on the meridian near the accident site. and fremont police tell me they are now investigating whether alcohol may have played a role in this fatal crash. fremont police say a black toyota yaris was making a left-hand turn when it collided with a chevy malibu on fremont boulevard early this morning. shay marcellino was killed in the crash. her close friends called her shaney. tonight they came to the accident scene still stunned. i just wanted to pray and talk to her. reporter: david knew her from youth ministry at st. ann s catholic church. she was the funniest person ever. reporter: she was a senior, set to graduate next month. friends say she was a talented flutist in the school band and was just coming home from her senior prom when she was killed. shaney s 39-year-old mother was driving the toyota. she suffered major injuries
