Goetten faces new charge, his lawyer seeks dismissal

JERSEYVILLE — The DUI case against Jersey County State’s Attorney Ben Goetten continues to work its way through the court system with the filing of an additional charge on Dec. 21 as Goetten’s attorney seeks to have the original charge dismissed.
On Oct. 23 Goetten was charged with DUI and several other traffic offenses.
According to court documents, on Oct. 22 Goetten was driving a 2020 Toyota truck near the intersection of Hollow and Lincoln avenues when he was stopped by a Jersey County deputy for improper lane usage shortly after 10 p.m. The charges were filed the next day.
