A holiday meal for environmental services workers and for frontline COVID-19 nurses at CaroMont Regional Medical Center was provided on Dec. 21 through the efforts of the Gaston Regional Chamber of Commerce's Ambassador Program.
The Chamber Ambassadors recruited not only donations of meals from local restaurants but also financial contributions from local business leaders to purchase additional meals.
At a brief outdoor ceremony to accept the donation, CaroMont CEO Chris Peek spoke of the unique community which exists in Gaston County and of which CaroMont is a part.
"This is why we're here," Peek said. "We are a community hospital. We are part of a community which treasures love, compassion, caring, and acts of kindness."
