>> hello. i am dana, along with judge jeanine shapiro and greg gutfeld. this is "the five." two dead after a power explosion at the u.s. canada border. video shows the moment a car went up in flames. a border patrol officer is being treated for minor injuries. all bridges are closed in the area. the fbi is on the scene investigating. let's go to alexis. she is going to give us an update on what she has learned. >> the story has changed throughout the day. originally sources on the ground who saw the impact thought this was a terrorist attack because they said they have never seen such an explosion if you look at this video. they did not think this was a car crashing, trying to flee and exit the area. we have these high level sources saying bomb techs alerted all authorities that it was an attempted terror attack. all government buildings were evacuated. the bridge was closed and they had heightened security, which were all steps they followed what they believed was a terror attack. they checked all cars. the driver and the passenger in the vehicle both dead. hearing this was a stolen car that left from a nearby casino i was trying to travel from the u.s. to canada, trying to avoid authorities and crashed. there are a lot of different reports coming through the day. the nypd is on high alert. we are going to see so many people coming in for the thanksgiving day parade. there are those ongoing terror threats and risks. more now than ever before. all of those federal, state, and local authorities working together, thinking it was a worse case scenario is because of the height and presence one of the border officials was injured. they are not sure what was in the vehicle because there is noinf the car. it is going to take a wild to identify who was in that veh vehicle. >> keep us posted. let's turn to the other news. the hostage breakthrough in israel. the jewish state and hamas agreeing to a pause in the fighting in a deal that would free at least 50 men and women. it was negotiated by qatar with help from egypt and the u.s. they say it will not stop israel from destroying hamas. >> the war is continuing. we continue the war until we reach all of our goals, destroy hamas and have assurance that no terrorist will be in charge of gaza. gaza will no longer be a threat for israel. we will continue fighting until the complete victory. we are doing this thanks to the bravery of our fighters and our sons and daughters, the hearers of israel, and their sacrifices. >> a lot of different angles to this. hamas is saying it is because we are so strong in israel is weak that we brought israel to this point. israel says it is their military actions that have brought hamas to this point. regardless, israel says don't think we are going to do a permanent cease-fire. the goal to destroy hamas is still going to happen according to what they are saying. >> this is why they have hostages to begin with. they knew they were outgunned and outmanned and they were in gaza alone. they were going to be under siege in some way. what strikes me is on october 7th, americans were murdered. we have americans held hostage. there have been 66 attacks on americans in the middle east that have left americans injured. we are at war whether we want to say it or not. we are in this war. the reality is, this is not just israel and hamas fighting. america is a big actor in this. when joe biden praises this and we hear qatar and the u.s. helped negotiate it, that tells me joe biden wanted this. when you watch benjamin netanyahu, they are going to stop aerial surveillance for four days for a chunk of the day for four days. they are giving up 150 prisoners and they have done things so much that israel says if you are a victim of what they have done, you have a certain amount of hours to appeal letting them go. benjamin netanyahu doesn't want to have to do this to get hostage back. this is a huge advantage for hamas that is on the defensive. >> one of the things we were reading about today, it struck us. the guidance that was given to the israeli defense forces for what they are supposed to say and do when they come into contact with the children in particular of the hostages that are going to be released. >> it is very touching and compelling. the guidance is clear. the idf would be the first to reach the children who are going to be transferred. these children have been in captivity, they have been hostages for seven weeks. the children being released on the other side by israel are children who were born of mothers who have been convicted of crimes. they are raised in jail with their mothers. there are people there they are familiar with. the people released today are coming out of. the guidance is you don't touch them, you asked them if they want something to drink, if you can hand if there is something. they have to be checked for health issues as well as mental health issues going forward. they are vulnerable. they don't feel they are safe anywhere and they have a lot of work to do it. these are days of high anxiety and my heart goes out to those families in israel because we have 50 or 150 of the hamas convicted women. if your family is not coming home they said maybe you can give us a few more days if we offer to let some other hostages go. they are trying to elongate the thing. it is clear that netanyahu is going to go forward with destroying hamas. this is a temporary lull. >> you can imagine the people who have been calling for a cease-fire, as soon as this happens, they are going to press hard and say we could have an immediate cease-fire. >> their opinion shouldn't matter. we have a protest movement trying to infect us with identity politics. if a country gets attacked by somebody from a different group, you cannot fight back. imagine if you were being mugged by a smaller person. you could not fight back because that would be bullying. the fact that you are in the israeli conflict in this realm of self defense, there should be no identity politics. it is based on historical context rather than what has happened. this breakthrough, i don't have skin in the game. it is good for hamas. they get time to regroup and they are torturing these families of hostages as they wrestle with this uncertainty if it is their kids or their mother but if you say it is bad, i can't say that to families who may get their children back. it is a challenge to figure out what this is because these are two different entities. israel is fighting to save lives. hamas doesn't care. they happily put palestinians in front of guns and become human targets. their goal is to create the biggest death toll. this hostage taking thing is built into the equation. they knew this was going to happen. it raises questions. how do you negotiate with monsters? who are you negotiating with and why are they still alive? if you can track hostage movements, why did they get three times as many prisoners if it is about israel's response. who is holding the cards here? who are we helping by applying pressure. are we helping israel by convincing them to do things netanyahu does not want to do. >> it is complex and complicated. it is excruciating emotional blackmail. you have children who are going to be left behind with hamas. >> i am thankful for a lot of things. this is one of them. this is a messy situation. this is what war is. we are more engaged because we have two unbelievable pieces of presence there. it is clear we are more inv involved. i differ slightly. for those who are in support of palestinians and believe being active is for better palestinian life, this should show that this has been in the hands of hamas all along. if they hadn't released the hostages, if some who were so active and loud, if hamas had released the hostages, it would have been easier for the u.s. and others to urge netanyahu not to respond as forcefully as they have. he has made it very clear he is not stopping. there is p.r. pressure that has mounted. he has not bowed to it. he is thankful the israelis are coming home. we want all of the hostages. i don't have any doubt he has made clear that is not the direction he is going. even combatants, when driven and pressured, the military pressure towards a humane goal, even combatants find their way. don't stop what you are doing. we are here because of the military presence in that re region. frankly, because of the enormous pressure that the society is putting on palestinians in the west bank. >> one thing i did want to say. it is very likely when these hostages are released, they have been given instruction to protect the family members left behind, saying i was well taken care of, everything was fine, they took care of me, everything was great. they are under incredible pressure. don't be full by hamas. there was no indication of a terror attack in the car explosion. liberal leaders think they know what is best when it
