president eisenhower signed is bill into law for veterans day, the focus had to be on veterans of all wars. and president biden arrived at arlington national cemetery moments ago where he'll lay the for one of america's unidentified world war i soldiers and two more unknowns from world war ii and the korean war were added in 1958. in 1984 president ronald reagan presided over the internment from >> hi, neil. we're learning more from israeli officials about the overall death toll from the attacks on october 7th. the israeli defense ministry says that 1200 people died, not 1400. they explained that investigators were looking at the bodies, a lot of them unidentified. now, finding that some of them were actually members of hamas. meanwhile, in gaza, the death toll continues to rise while there's no official verification on the exact numbers, the palestinian health authority there says as many as 11,000 people have died since october 7th. it is, again, worth reminding our viewers, there's no verifiable way to determine if the numbers are real because that's released by hamas. it's desperate conditions. the international committee of the red cross says at that the health care system really has reached the point of no return. doctors are without borders say they are shocked and more than 1,000 officials from usaid made an official plea to call for a cease-fire. israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu fired back at french president emmanuel macron who warned of the dangers taking place in gaza and the recent interview. while he says he supports israel's right to defend itself, he argues too many civilians are suffering. take a listen. >> day after day, what we saw is the bombing of civilians and i think this is the only solution we have, this is cease-fire because it's impossible to explain. we want to fight against, and killing innocent people. >> those comments not going over well here in israel especially when the idf affirmed it only entered the war because of the atrocious attacks we saw on october 7th. since then idf says the military has struck 15,000 times at hamas targets and also been able to confiscate as many as 6,000 weapons. back here tonight in northern israel to give you a look, neil, at some of the developments that we're seeing in the north and conflict with hezbollah, hezbollah's leader spoke in a major speech earlier this evening saying that lebanon is essentially another front to put pressure on israel and they will be using new weapons, new ammunition. the country here, israel's defense minister traveled to this part of the country today warning lebanon, warning hezbollah not to escalate, neil. neil: alex, thank you again. be safe. you and your crew. alex hogan there. general jack keane with us now. it's an honor to have you with us on veterans day. even while we're not involved in this war, we have u.s. soldiers, 1200 on boots on the ground in harm's way, attacked from iranian-backed entientitie we go after the rebel groups funded by iran and leave it at that. what do you think? >> well, personally, i'd just like to take a look at it strategically what it happening. i mean, there's a recognition among many of us in foreign policy and national security who wake up every day and this is kind of what we work on, that the united states has lost its ability to deter its adversaries. our adversaries for the last two, three years have gotten considerably more aggressive. we did not deter putin in ukraine. we have not deterred the iranians from what they're attempting to do here in using their instrument, hamas, to destroy as much of israel as they can, weaken israel politically. isolate them geopolitically, worldwide condemnation against israel and try to force a collapse of the government. certainly, they're trying to drive us out of the middle east, which has been an objective for 43 years and that's why they're attacking us now, i think, 48 times since october 7th. 83 times before that. but even more than that, we have president xi, you commented on it many times, we have discussed it many times, how he has stepped up his aggression against the united states, against taiwan, against our allies and partners for the last two or three years. we are not deterring these adversaries. they see leadership in the united states, they believe it's weak. this is their perception, and they think they can take advantage of us because the united states is, generally speaking, in decline and we don't have the same political will and they look at our military and they see the facts, that the military post-9/11 has eroded. it's current capability is not as strong as it used to be. still the number one military in the world, but when you put it in certain scenarios, it's challenged. all of those things are coming together here and that's why you see the attacks continuing to accelerate against u.s. forces in iraq and syria. you know, despite the fact that we've tried to tell them through two air strikes, to knock it off. they're not going to knock it off. that's the reality of it, until you put something on the table that they value more and you're willing to take some risk with that in escalation. and not be afraid that it's going to start a war with iran. the 43 years of evidence suggests that iran does not want the direct confrontation with the united states and that's why they've designed the brilliant strategy of using proxies in other countries, terrorist organizations primarily to attack us and drive us out of the region. we don't want direct confrontation with us, because that's the end of their regime. neil: but, general, don't the iranians know that we don't want a direct confrontation going after entities in iran and that is something from which they take advantage? >> oh, yeah, absolutely. and that's why i believe, after you take down the proxy's capability to attack us, that you put on the table, that the irgc training center which is based in iran where all of these proxies train. the hamas was there with 500 in september, for example. put on the table rigc basis which reagan did in the mid '80s, he took down platforms and irgc bases because they were interfering with the flow of oil out of the persian gulf, which is another one of their major objectives and also, put the irgc headquarters in iran on the table. these are things that will get their attention. we've had two presidents that have done this, reagan is one. the other one is certainly president trump, when he went after the leader of the r irgc cud force and killed him and back on their heels. did they conduct an attack in recrimination, yes. it was a measured attack and we've never heard from them since under the trump administration, i mean. yes we have to confront the iranians over this issue or it will continue. after all, we're trying to prevent americans from being killed and it looks like as they continue to conduct these attacks at some point, luck is going to run out and sadly to say we may have a tragic occurrence here. neil: all right. general, i want to thank you very much. we are going to go now to arlington, the colonel, they're winning that pr war? >> our role here in idf and my role as idf spokesperson is to convey not only what we're doing, but how we're doing and to address the huge challenge that these terrorist organizations, specifically hamas in our case, pose not only to us, but also to our life style. i was watching the ceremony just before you brought me on, and the silence of the ceremony of veterans day and indeed, the armistice day in the u.k. now, there is one thing in common or very, very strong connecting line between those dates and what we're doing here. we are fighting against an evil enemy that has no regard for human life and that is why it is a just fight. we have no choice. they came into our bedrooms, they butchered our babies and now we're fighting a war that is in the level does that bother you? >> iran has been pulling the strings behind the scenes, especially on the front with lebanon and hezbollah. in the last month, iranian involvement can never end up in anything positive, i'm afraid. neil: let me get a sense, too, what you can share with us. i understand you can't share much militarily and i understand that, i appreciate that, colonel, but we've heard from the prime minister that israel must have a role and it could last a while determining gaza's future and that that could take some time, never specified how much time. but we do know that other countries want in on deciding gaza's fate, egypt providing this passageway, but also, qatar helping in the passageway getting the relief in and some individuals out. and i cannot imagine, given the fact that qatar is a host to so many hamas operatives, that you'd welcome that. >> so our war effort and the directive we've received from the government to dismantle and destroy hamas as a governing authority and a terrorist entity in the gaza strip. that's what we're doing currently, i'd say with some great success. in the last few days we've destroyed and overrun over 11 command posts of hamas. we announced today that we killed one of the battalion commanders, who was holed up in a hospital behind a thousand people that were taking refuge in a hospital. so, we evacuated the hospital and encouraged people to evacuate and the terrorists actually evacuated and escaped with him. he and his henchmen ended up in a school and we took him out and we killed him as well. so i would say, we have to keep our eye on the ball and the idf is moving forward day by day in order to seek out and achieve our goals and achieve our directives. the end state, what happens when it all-- sanford, jewish, who had gone to high school in los angeles, lots of jewish classmates and she said that almost from the time they were in school, they were inculcated that israel was the oppressor and that there was a billboard put up or a poster that was kept up for an extended period of time listing israel as oppressor. so we shouldn't be surprised if there's been this kind of constant indoctrination by the educational establishment that israel is an oppressor and by the way, other groups that you and i would be surprised to imagine are listed as opressors are listed as opressors. so, i just want to say this is almost a conspiracy of the woke left using educational establishments to kind of establish that israel is the bad people. and frankly, so are some other groups that you
