Jim Adkins and Bud Krause have volunteered in Duluth for years, but during the COVID-19 pandemic, they’ve both turned it up a notch.

Jim Adkins and
Bud Krause have been recognized by Jacqueline Wacker, coordinator of the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency’s Meals on Wheels program. The men have volunteered in Duluth for years, but during the COVID-19 pandemic, they’ve both turned it up a notch, Wacker said. Adkins has been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels since 2013. He said he loves visiting with the people on his route. Krause began volunteering with the program in 2015. Before retiring, he had worked for The City of Duluth Water and Gas Department for 38 years. Krause also has volunteered with the city of Duluth Senior Programs by serving on the Senior Programs Advisory Board and assisting with parties, bingo and social activities at Morgan Park, Portman and Evergreen community centers. “Bud and Jim are the best!” Wacker said. “They are dependable and reliable with their regularly scheduled routes, but they are also always willing to help out and pick up extra routes when needed if another driver is sick or unable to volunteer.”
